I didn't see it as either talented or funny. I'm not saying that out of anger. I watched it and never quite figured out if Rundgren was mocking the president or the media. Because the media monkey was wearing a tin-foil hat...while depicting the president of wearing one, I got the idea that the media was the object being mocked. I'm not really aware of any particular conspiracy theories the president is pushing; in fact the left is pushing them all while the president just keeps saying they're making stuff up-and that makes the supposed point backfire even more. I'm no Trump supporter but holy shit this song is just bad. Lyrically it's very weak and doesn't do a great job of condemning the guy you're going after. The production quality of the music video is horrendous, too. Todd in a suit with a monkey face that's on the same level of quality as a Snapchat filter with crappy jpgs, Trump footage, and flaccid jabs at the administration does not make a powerful music video. I find it surprising that Rundgren and Fagen would write a song attacking Trump considering that a large percentage of their remaining fan base are most likely Trump supporters. They aren't attracting a new wave of millennial listeners any time soon so I guess this song is just running with the "If I say Trump is bad then I'll look good" mindset. Again, not a Trump supporter, I just couldn't leave this video without leaving my take on it.
