Todd Rundgren - This Is Not A Drill Lyrics

This is not a drill, pass it down the line
Keep your voices still, could happen any time
Word came down last night, our enemies advance
You're itching for a fight, well now you get your chance

This is not a drill, we're taking live fire
Shit has gotten real, threat level can't be higher
The clank of armor plate, rolling down the hill
The horde is at the gate, coming for the kill

This is not a drill, this is the big show
Our destiny fulfilled, that's all you need to know
We're moving out at dawn, so clean your weapon well
The happy days are gone, we're headed into hell

This is not a drill, the blood is not for show
The sound you hear is real, the fire is down below
If anyone is captured, we take the poison pill
And curse the bloody coward who doesn't have the will
This is not a drill

This is not a drill, we're taking live fire
Shit has gotten real, threat level can't be higher
The clank of armor plate, rolling down the hill
The horde is at the gate, coming for the kill
This is not a drill, the blood is not for show
The sound you hear is real, the fire is down below
If anyone is captured, we take the poison pill
And curse the bloody coward who doesn't have the will
This is not a drill

  1. G.... W....

The guitar intro is so cool.

  2. s.... c....

    Pure love!

  3. m.... ....

I was thinking about this song just the other day...

  4. R.... S....

Okay, so I’m looking for you know, Joe Satriani. Knowing good and well THATS Todd Rundgren but just pressed play and then, that’s when I said shit, read the lineup, yep,....Rundgren.

  5. R.... 8....

Versatility of Todd's ideas goes wihout saying. The MAN never stops reinventing. Always interesting. Idea after idea.

  6. B.... H....

such a shame - listening to Todd's three most seminal albums, "Something/Anything" - "A Wizard, A True Star" and "Todd" one can only lament the loss of songwriting and performing genius Todd had since 1980 or so. Sigh.

  7. R.... 8....

    I said, DAYUMN.

  8. N.... 4....

Song of the year! Fuck the Grammys!

  9. C.... K....

He and his band were fantastic the other night in Baltimore (with Yes and The Carl Palmer Band). They played this great. (Prairie Prince is in his touring band ... very cool ... perhaps they originally met on XTC's Skylarking.)

  10. D.... K....

Sounds like a track from Arena. That is my most favorite release by Todd since 2009.

  11. C.... G....

    Boring snooze fest.

  12. R.... P....

    Make America Great Again!!!!!!

  13. m.... ....

Todd could have titled this album "Nearly Anything, Mostly Something". Love it Todd!

  14. r.... m....

todd you better watch out at your concerts in florida and texas you might run into some of the good ole boys. they might not like your views on trump.

  15. K.... O....

I would've loved to have seen this song performed at the show, but it nearly gave me a seizure, since the strobes never stopped. I had to be hurried out to the back of the venue with a hand over my eyes. Major bummer.

  16. E.... B....

    THIS NOT A DRILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. d.... ....

Is Todd Rundgren in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame???  No.  Then why not???

    d.... ....

Cos' the RoRHoF are a bunch of chodes.

  18. h.... ....

I like this, but every time I hear the middle part chord progress it reminds me of Garbage's "Queer." That's not a bad thing, I love that song. Try singing the chorus with it. Fit's perfectly.

  19. D.... H....

Always on the cutting edge. The lyrics are outstanding. Forget that it's part techno, it's what Todd does best, experiment. I enjoy Satriani's guitar work!

    D.... H....

There's nothing techno about it. This is straight-up balls rock and roll!

  20. A.... L....

Love it! Wait till you see the video that goes along with this at the concert! I could have listened to this for another 20 min.

    A.... L....

Really - experiencing this song live is mind-blowing. One of the highlights of the entire night (in a bunch of them.)

  21. M.... L....

Jessie must have been on a break...?

  22. S.... T....

    Awesome with Satriani epic!!!

  23. G.... S....

I very much like this track [ let me try that again.... this friggin rocks !], not so much the others from WN that are on YouTube [I've listed to a few more since I posted this - and like a few -Tin Foil Hat), not so much others]. Very much want to hear the rest though. Prefer rock/blues. IMHO Arena was the last good album [ outstanding is how I rate it]. I have been a fan since '73, and like some albums far more than others. I will continue to be a die hard fan because I appreciate and fully support that TR goes in the direction he chooses. I don't care for techno/dance music, but really like the track Evrybody [Global]. Just sayin'.... rock on. Peace

    t.... ....

well said, not into the techno, but will always love Todd

    t.... ....

tmdeanna -- the new album is great, his best since (IMO) Nearly Human. Let's Do This, Come, this song, Sleep, Chance For Us, Deaf Ears ... its a great mix of song -- and a fantastic offer from a 68-year-old who is about the last bastion of the great songwriters. I hated Individualist, With A Twist, and State, and loathed the techno-Global. but I went to his White Knight show on June 3 .... and it was a great show. Todd was Todd, in a "show," not a concert. The band was sharp, the songs were appropriately arranged, the Global Girls were hot, and the visuals were snappy and attractive. A great work.

    t.... ....

IMO, this track works BEAUTIFULLY live. Pure power. The studio track pales by comparison.

  29. k.... w....

    Brilliant! Long Live Todd

  30. M.... T....

No shit!!!! With the Satch no less.

  31. J.... M....

    This is fucking awesome !!!!

  32. T.... F....

Now that's what I call the ever popular tortured artist effect! :P

  33. m.... l....

I heard about this song on my local classic rock radio morning show. The list of people involved with it sounded amazing, and I could not wait to hear it. Now that I've heard it, I wish I never heard of it. I didn't know that people are making alarm clock buzzers as music now

    m.... l....

agreed however his songs have a way of creeping up on me where i think, you know its not that bad. im just glad its not pure edm again. arena was something i didnt like at first but its growing on me

  34. t.... m....

    TODD..wat else can I say...
