My friend"s older brother gave me this album for 2 joints in 1981. I was 15 and I already liked Utopia. To this day (52 years old) it is my favorite song in the world.

Possibly I'm guilty of taking Todd for granted. If anyone else wrote with such finesse, I'd be raving ! But it's simply yet another Rundgren composition that I never tire of. He's up there with Lennon/McCartney at times.

I found this LP in a pile of my parents' old records. Finally managed to buy a turntable and play it. This album is a treasure! Another cool thing is how the record sleeve has all the lyrics for you to read while you listen. Anyways...this is my favorite song of his. The lyrics are brilliant. Thank you Todd!

Indeed. The Metropole version is even more lush than the original. Lesser known tune is as beautiful as any of the great TR ballads.

Margret, you've probably seen the Metropole Orchestra 2012 concert. But if not, Todd does a beautiful version of this song toward the end -- 1:26:10.

Hey there Richard...most ALL of Todd's work makes us think. He's a master lyricist! From "an elpees worth of toons" (hilarious) to "God Said" (soul-searching) his challenge is to spur us all on to do exactly that.......think. LOVETHATTODD!

Richard....o.k. ..to be fair I listened (and sang along with) Todd on this track. Known the lyrics since the LP burst forth...so..what EXACTLY is so "disturbing" about them? I'm curious.....

It's a brilliant song, no doubt about that, but listen to the lyrics again. They're a little more disturbing than they might at first appear.

I find them sort of calming. Death and entropy approach relentlessly, but you and I will be together forever.

i remember in my college years ( yikes), when Todd released this 'old time todd' closely after his seminal OPPS WRONG PLANET with his prog rock group UTOPIA which we loved at the time.
