Todd Rundgren - Cold Morning Light Lyrics
I believe if I was all alone
I would be better off in a world my own
I'd forget I ever knew of you
And this dream every night that you put me through
And you dance once again with me
We are close, we are friends
And our love never ends
But in the cold morning light I see
That you won't be back for me
The wound you left is healing and then
It starts itching and I scratch it open again
So the pain comes out and I give in
We sit and drink Victorian tea
And your face wears a smile for me
I was yours, you were mine
Our hearts bound, lost in time
But in the cold morning light I see
That you won't be back
For me there can be no peace
For me there can be no rest
I believe though I've tried my best
I'm condemned it seems
To a life of restlessness and broken dreams
We are close, we are friends
And our love never ends
But in the cold morning light I see
That you won't be back for me

Fantastic song!!
Excellent song
Divorce on HBO brought me here. Real music. So glad I found this gem!
Maybe the best album never. At age 59 listening with headphones. The memories flooding back from 1976. The girls. The love that was too intense to describe. But Todd found a way. God. What a talent.
The most amazing solo produced double album, ever, Todd, you're amazing and this is your testimony to great song craft, production and playing, amazing stuff!
! ! !
Thanks for the upload! Are you ever going to edit the lyrics? Lol. The last line is (100% confirmed) "... Restlessness and hopeless dreams"
great album please check out Essential Classic Rock Vinyl Records

Hopeless Dreams.
I miss you marciele Cappucetti.
My vote for the most underrated musician of ALL TIME....
I do agree Emily
Agree he should of been in the rock n roll hall of fame a long long time ago!!!!! It is absurd he isn't!!!!
This is something u can listen to in the morning gem
Got the album when it first came out
Well. I am to young for that. But I happily found this brilliant music recently.
Favorite Todd album.
Phenomenal song that so accurately describes the futile dreams that accompany unrequited love. One correction though: Todd actually sings about "a life of restlessness and HOPELESS dreams" -- not "BROKEN dreams."
We are close we are friends and our love never ends but in the cold ❄ morning light mmmm
Great old memories !!! 1973?? Love Todd 😍
nothing not to love babe , he almost invented love or at least was one of the 1st to try to bottle it !
wow. pertinent. wonderful.
Amazing song
wow this is what i call music love this track!
Fantastic.
Brilliant album. One of the many highlights from it. I have most of his and Utopias albums from the 70's. A musical genius and workaholic who arguably spread himself too thinly. But his best was about as good as it gets.
My favorite Album!! Love every song on Something Anything 😚
