Titus Andronicus A Pot In Which To Piss Comments
Hold your breath and ....6:02
you ain't never been no virgin kid, you were fucked from the start :D. now that's classy songwriting.
That piano is so Springsteen.
It's not an insult. There is clearly Springsteen influence across the whole record. Have you ever actually listened to a Springsteen record? Perhaps you should gain a little knowledge on this topic before you make an asinine comment and make yourself out to be a fool. You do realize in the song 'A More Perfect Union', when Patrick says "tramps like us, baby we were born to die", is a play on the song 'Born to Run' by Springsteen in which he says, "tramps like us, baby we were born to run." I didn't "insult" them. They "insulted" themselves by clearly being influenced by Springsteen.
@Harrison Leone they reference Springsteen repeatedly. They're not joking.
+mybloodyboognish they legit bring him up on the album I'm p sure
+Harrison Leone I'm no springstein guy but stfu lmao
"And I've destroyed everything that wouldn't make me more like Bruce Springsteen" -The Battle of Hampton Roads. They consciously attempt to connect to The Boss. Blue collar "music of the people" that's obsessed with New Jersey? That's exactly what Springsteen was most famous for. There are much worse musicians that bands could strive to be.
What poignant storytelling this album is.
I wasn't born to die like a dog, I was born to die just like a man.
Yeah I figured it out a few months ago
yeah it's pretty simple
The whole thing is about showing parallel emotions between the civil war era America and contemporary America. That's why the other quotes are from Lincoln. It is interesting that they would show Davis too, but it does fit into the theme.
Easiest way to memorize historical quotes I've even come across!
does anyone know the chords?
7:31 - 8:05
The audience was large and brilliant. Upon my weary heart was showered smiles, plaudits, and flowers, but beyond them, I saw thorns and troubles innumerable.
Jefferson Davis
For some reason I just find it really interesting that they use a quote from Jefferson Davis
I've been called out, cuckolded, castrated, but I survived
I am covered in urine and excrement but I'm alive
And there's a white flag in my pocket never to be unfurled
Though with their hands 'round my ankles, they bring me down for another swirl
And they tell me, "Take it easy buddy - it's not the end of the world"
That piano is fucking epic.
you ain't never been no virgin, kid. you were fucked from the start..
5:31 - Doesn't it just bring tears to your eyes?
Incredible song!
Best song of 2010 so far.
