Tin Machine Prisoner Of Love Comments
Just stay square.
I was lucky to see Tin Machine in LA in 1989 and Bowie in Detroit in 1983, in Anaheim 1986 and LA 1986!!!
Good work by madmen. "Melvins". It is a gem.
Terrific song and album. "I'll break any thug - who maps out your passage to ruin."
I'll break any thug
Who maps out your passage
To ruin...
Best line.
"I seen the best mans of my generation lay down in a cemetery" - A hidden reference to Allen Ginsberg's "Howl"?
Raw......loaded. No borders.
Critics have always disliked Bowie's releases, calling then pretentious, half-baked, uneven, plagarized... Even Ziggy Stardust wasn't received well in the U.S.... The songs of Tin Machine are less Bowie-esque in their lack of bigger 'theatricality' or sing progressions like , those songs on Ziggy, Alladin, Hunky Dory... but they have the Bowie touch as well as not being songs written for a bigger concept or character... Hey folks... he's gorgeous just Presley... can sing the phone book
How could I have missed this brilliant song all these years. That 'King Crimson-esque' guitar of Reeves Gabrels! Glad I found it after all.
The album wasn't that popular. So it was easy to get the half Sales band at a half off sale.
I like what u did w that..
dynamite!!!
Don’t be fooled by fools who promise you
The world and all that glitters more fool you .... - Bowie -
Great quote indeed, especially/still for these times
Frankie Boyle namecheck Tin Machine in his biog. Passed me by in my youth, but criminally overlooked I reckon
makes no sence but it does
This song has a Scary Monster album feel. (Teenage Wildlife)
Such a great song.
Bowie's Tin Machine era was as vital as all his chapters. This was such a knockout punch after Never Let Me Down. It had balls.
Raw, beautiful and genuine. This is Tim Machine and this is Bowie.
great song! No one has to like this. That is Bowie! Assholes!
41 today
I just can't seem to get into this no matter how much I try.
Oddly, I was never a DB enthusiast. Yet when I first heard this disc in '89, I was gripped by the dark, lonely, and anguished vision of life at the extremes. Thank you, DB......
Ok, you may like or not, but you can't say the work of such superlative artist is plain bad, like they said...
Raw and passionate.
Well, if this is considered one of the worst Bowie's work, then he really was a genius.
It is one of his best albums
agreed it was so far from Bowie and why people didn't get it. which is why i like it. especially Heaven's In Here. and Amazing.
He was, but I think it's Tin Machine II that people talk about as being his worst, not this one. Tin Machine is a very good album, Tin Machine II not so much.
Genio total... !!
He just sounds like any middle of the range 80s singer on this album. Tin Machine II's better.
Great track one of Tin machines Best.
Just stay square the Bowie Unbleevers!
Bowie Essence!
Style of this song it would've fitted well into the, Tonight, album. Very evocative of that period in Bowie's work. Strange, for first half of this song, it doesn't seem to know where it's going. Then the chord change, the backing vocals and the chorus kicks in, ah! there you are. Gotcha!
Are you crazy? Tonight album is a dance record, it couldn't be more far from this.
I loved this album from day one but always knew I was in the minority .Have to admit it's hard to listen to whole album right thru without a break which is the usual convention I know lol
No big deal, just David Bowie inventing 90s AltRock in 1989. Godspeed you StarMan!
A great album...dark, powerful...
Rest In Peace.
Love the lyrics in this one... "I'll break any thug - who maps out your passage to ruin..."
I was surprised when I heard that Bowie's work with Tin Machine wasn't regarded well by music critics. I think his work with the band was dark but beautiful and powerful. To each their own, I guess.
I read a music critic who said "1.Outside" was a terrible album. I already knew the album well so I knew that critic didn't know what he was talking about. I never read him again.
nostromo79 the pop stardom of 1983 backed him into an artistic corner he didn't want to be in. Tin Machine was his escape route; when it worked, it was as vital as all his work. This song was a nadir or the first release, hands down.
@JonMatt62 Aladdin Sane was stomped into eternity.......oh well
This is one of my favorite albums of all time and one of the most unknown. I had the tape and listened to it on head phones constantly. I have no idea why people don't get it.It's shear brilliance
FOR ME TOO
mattroosters Same here. The hate for this album truly mystified me. I remember seeing an extended promo video on Mtv's 120 Minutes that contained a medley of the best tracks. I fell in love with it and immediately bought the cassette. It was a defining contribution to the soundtrack of my turbulent high school life. But hey...this underappreciated gem belongs to peeps like you & me. :-)
What a creepy, surfer music/Echo and the Bunnymen, gothy feel. Yeah. I like this.
Thanks men.
I've never been a Bowie fan but I love tin machine
My first time hearing Tin Machine. Doesn't sound all that bad.

I'm a blackstar...
Hey Doc put the whole album on. There is not to many Tin Machine vids on here. Thanx TheEWFX29.
