Thursday Ladies And Gentlemen: My Brother, The Failure Comments
100k club. Here's to 900k more!
My brother is a failure
So…no one’s gonna talk about those bugs
My Chem’s doing a show with Thursday and I’m happy.
Thank you, brother.
Holly molly! That is badass 😅 And Geoff is sooo freaking cute and talented ❤
Is this a Dostoevsky/Kafka reference?
Still a timeless masterpiece in 2019
My Poor Brother *------'

Tim Kasher backing vocals are a nice touch.
I see a lot of complaint in the comments about a lack of melody, and harmony in the vocals...I think that's the point. There are 2 singers, 1 in the first verse, 2 in the second both with two equally discordant sections. This song is meant to sound....chaotic so it makes sense that the vocal melody (and yes there is one...actually several) is slightly off kilter. To say Geoff can't create a melody is ignorant of, not only the intentions of this song, but their music in general in which Geoff crafts some very unique and effective vocals. This is not a band for people who like mainstream music really. They purposefully set out to not make "hooks" and "singles" but to write a song that makes sense artistically, not economically. If you don't like it, maybe you're just too used to cookie cutter bullshit.
if you wanted non-mainstream music listen to hella or piglet...maybe even aphex twin or death grips
@Gimme Gamma You missed the point.....
Dominic Gallegos I didn’t
Inspired by Franz Kafka?
Best song by Thursday ever! I'm listening to it the whole day.
This chorus in this song is so damn epic.
this is an old song? lol cant believe people are just discovering it! its amazing though... also cant believe it only has 500 likes
I'm a huge fan of Thursday, how have I only heard of this song recently
No idea, I remember when this came out in 2007.
Why did I just discover this song today? Where the fuck has this song been??? WHat the holy fuck!!!!
You have to read Kafka's Metamorphosis to actually get this music video.
totally agree... that book blew me away- like this song
shoutout to the bass guitar and the keys for making this song sound so miserable (and so good). also nominated for best song/video combination. the video perfectly encapsulates the misery in this song
sad song
man Thursday really started sucking in the later years :\ No Devotion is way better so much more original.
Naw bro, Thursday has remained consistently good through out all of their years of making music. Each album has a distinctive sound and style. To each their own.
This song rings so hard in my heart. My brothers I love to death but are total fuckups.
An absolute perfect portrait of my brother. There's no way I could have said this better myself. I played this for him the last day I saw him. he cursed me out and walked away. I haven't seen him since and I'm a better person for it.
I remember this song changing my life in high school lol
That makes me feel SOOO old.
is this metal? i just wanted to know
+lautaro asis it's post-hardcore. Sort of an offshoot of hardcore punk.
+PlayingOnThyme thanks
I am the brother.
This song is definitely a hidden gem of Thursday. Quite possible the best song/video.
Samsonuel. Don't forget jet black new year
if you want to understand this video read Kafka, if you want to understand Kafka read Camus,.... im serious
BEST SONG BY THURSDAY HANDS DOWN
100% Naked Lunch
This song is a masterpiece because everything about it fits both Thursday and the genre. If you actually pay attention to Geoff's vocals closely, in a variety of songs, you'll find he's actually quite a talented singer. Personally, being a long time Thursday fan, his voice is a breath of fresh air compared to the same old melodies you hear today
I beg to differ sir. Geoff has expressed his vocal expertise on many songs that I would be happy to point you to. Admittedly his voice is one that takes some getting used to if you are a newcomer to Thursday. However, once you get a feel for his range/style, he is in a league of his own.
I just saw them live. Geoff delivers a stellar performance and captures the sound of the record perfectly. He may not fit the classic sense of what society/people think a "good singer" is but he is definitely consistent and very talented. Lots of heart and what seems like imperfection on record is executed perfectly live. Totally recreated. I have a new found respect for the guy.
And as for the "untrained ears" comment.
It's OBVIOUS to point out what you're pointing out. It's a lot harder and takes a lot more experience to differentiate and uncover what is truly above average and what is below. There are so many factors and variables. Just because he doesn't fit your criteria doesn't dub the ears of someone who enjoys Geoff as "untrained"
Kevin Li I'm a music major and I still believe he is an amazing singer. Definitely not in the classical sense, but as a normal performer he is above par. I saw Thursday last Tuesday and they were even better live then recorded. The man is a true performer, something a trained or untrained ear can pick up on.
We were at the same show! Saw them at The Wiltern last Tuesday :D
Great show. Agreed!
@***** you're totally wrong, though. He's definitely a frontman. Plus, he's obviously doing better than you when it comes to music, so I'd really doubt it.
USALKT OUT NOW!!!
NEW ALBUM FROM CHOIRS
WATCH NEW VIDEO FOR "SUPEREGOID"
ON CHOIRSOFFICIAL CHANNEL
the singer looks like the mexican rock singer Saul Hernandes
I've always tried to like Thursday, but this guy can't string together a melody...
oh man shut the hell up, What the hell are you talking about?, Hes completely talented, but at the same time there music is meant to be what i call Demented and insane. Its beautiful
nah fam you're wrong
do you have anything to back that up?
Yea dude you're an idiot
The Naked Lunch connection is strong with this one
This song is eerily similar to chiodos.
Wow...no harmony at all in this
The intensity they produce and emotion at there shows is more powerful than any of these new bands by far ,
Any band that can tell a simple story so powerfully deserves recognition for that alone. THIS is a masterpiece in its genre, love it or hate it, it did what it set out to do and did it very well. 22k views is merely a sad commentary on how shitty our music tastes as a whole has become.
are you fucking kidding me.... this song is amazing.
One of my favourites, wish they could have made an entire album like this song!
love Thursday but this song is terrible, sorry
In one year it only went up to 22,000 views.
His voice is so melodic yet so raw at the same time.
I was never a huge fan of Thursday, but this song is great. That final part is so strong and conflicted, and I get chills from it.
I'll never get to see them live.. being young and liking good music sucks :(
There’s still plenty of good music being made if you care enough to look for it, sweetheart.
note to self, don't watch this video before bed. or do, and have some screwed up dreams.
probably one of my favorite tunes from them ever.
I really need them to come back. :(
This song has it all..!
damn this is intense. i feel like this is more intense than bands who try to be excessively heavy because this is somehow more "real" sounding
They were just way ahead of the curve. A lot of people didn't get it. I'm just glad I saw them when I could
haters gonna hate. this music is intense, complicated, intricate, insanely emotional and hard to digest, but it speaks to some people, BRO. green day's for sure one of the biggest sellouts in music history. and least geoff rickley channels his emotions into something unique & creative and not whiny little bicth-fits against i-heart radio.
cause it's vevo :p
it's better than green day
thanks thursday for making good music.
Worst song ever? Are you fucking kidding me. This song is perfect
This world is corrupt but I'll be calm. That sellout beiber came up as a related video... I'M LOSING IT!!!!
He never sold out if he didn’t make good music to begin with, lol
13.5k, things are getting better. Road to 100M, Justin Bieber should be scared.
One Direction GTFO...
why would they even put that on the side bar, i trying to listen to real music-___-
One Direction isn’t *that* bad. Yeah, they’re cheesy, but I think that’s the point. They’re fun and energetic. I’ve never cared to listen to any of their albums; but from the songs I’ve heard, they’re just a really good time.
its so sad how i found out how good this band was actually is, at the worst time after they broke up
looks like that was a fun music video to make
@jpdrummer1000 - because it isnt any good
How does this only have 8,000 views?
omg HD :D
7.5k views, seriously... best posthardcore band ever, please.
Marry me geoff?
God its been years since I've seen this.
7,123 views WTF! Fuck everybody who doesn't know of this band and dislikes them!!
woah did not know that album existed thank you so much
Kill the house lights, was released 2007 from what I'm aware.
im totally brainfucked what album is this song off of?!?!?!?
Kill The House Lights.
HA! Geoff said shit @1:28! Fuck VEVO!
Tim Kasher FTW!!! Oh yeah and Thursday. lol
@jpdrummer1000 because the video was uploaded to YouTube like a year ago
If you understood this video on the first viewing, you created FLCL.
im glad i saw them and recorded their final new york show =]
2139. Fucking. Views.
Are you kidding me?
I'm so happy I got to see them live before they broke up
@Coopermaee The original music video had much, much more. All of Thursday's got pulled down and replaced by a Vevo channel dedicated to them. New video = less views.
i'm sitting here trying to figure out why this only has 1,585 views.....
This song is the fucking shit!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thumbs up for the "Naked Lunch" references!
jeoff sounds an aweful lot like tim kasher at 1:25-1:29
@cheatcommandos14 We’ve talked about turning Thursday into something else: a non-profit, a band that only records sporadically, a collection of other projects… Underneath it all, the personal circumstances involved make it impossible to continue Thursday in the spirit that has made it special. So, we stop. For now, at least
@forevermusic2000 hahahaha i knew why as well and was going to tell him the same thing, but you beat me to it.
RIP one of the last good post-hardcore bands ;_;
@jpdrummer1000 probably because it was uploaded oct 2 dick
Love Thursday. Love this song.
