Three Dog Night Out In The Country Comments
This is also my favorite Three Dog Night song.
Beautiful song
What a beautiful, peaceful song. Have always loved it. Ty, You Tube.
great stuff....
Paul Williams wrote this timeless one of the greatest songs ever made ! I have loved this song for over 40 year’s😎
Huge fan of this band. What a subtle brilliant tune they tried to slide by some of us. simply beautiful
I stand alone...and take back something worth remembering
One of Roger Nichols greatest melodies! and Paul Williams's finest lyrics!
I used to listen to this near everyday when I lived out in California, I love it
This is the song that woke me up to life
I was 15 in 1970, a HS sophomore. Three Dog Night, CCR, CSNY ruled the airwaves.
Three Dog Night just pumped out one hit single after another between 1969-74. Out in The Country was brilliant.
I saw TDN in 69 in CT. And now in 2020 going to see Judy Collins as well as Jesse Colin Young this June same concert . She's 80 , he's close. I'm 67 Ha
Leaving for college in a 67 Mustang. This song was haunting, so smooth and beautiful
the 2nd best song on the album...after "Mama Told Me"....
Brings back good memories.
An Ace!
50 years ago. When did I get so old??? GREAT song!
You haven't yet !!!
Music is memorizing and unforgettable that made this song; Thank You Musicians
Thank 4 the Heart
Sounds like freedom in a classic convertible driving down a straightway highway at high speed with your hair flying out the side Windows. Doin' 80! and no cops! Hopefully there's still nature to admire!
When I belted out "Never Been to Spain" to my young girlfriend (<------------), every word loud and clear, she got so excited and practically raped me right on the spot, she has looked at me differently ever since.
(I am a guy using her youtube to comment till I get my own)
Three Dog Night dominated the airwaves 1969-1975 selling over 40 million albums during this period. 21 consecutive top 40 hits still being played today. Not sure why they haven't been inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame.
I just get so emotional whenever I hear this song, one of my very favorites of all time. I'm in my sixties now, witnessing our culture walk away from so many good things we enjoyed in the 70's (and 60's too) But listening to this doesn't just take me back to a toe tapping memory. It becomes so much deeper than that, emotional. So fortunate are we that grew up listening to the music that could set you free from youthful, self-inflicted torments. A music that soothed the pain of uncertainty and conflict. I know the youth of today are feeling the same, or maybe even more of that same pain but have not the music to cure them of it. That is why I so reminisce "Out in the Country" and so many more touching songs of the past. Thanks. Plan on seeing 3DN in a couple months and looking forward to them playing this song.
From most all the groups of the 70s, I remember their songs the most! WAKY AM in Louisville 🎧🎶
Great song by a Great band. Never got the credit they deserved, vastly underrated. One of my favorites.
I had a bit of the lyrics to this song in my head for years, and couldn't figure out the song it was from. You all can't imagine how relieved I feel figuring it out. I love this song!!
Only fun if you don't listen to the words 😥
My all time go to song for telling life to go pack sand.
LOVE THEM soulful
This song was absolutely the one !
My Navy days when they were chart toppers ! Great music!
Sure is a time machine. Can almost hear the 7th period bell ringing in the background.
TDN a really great cover band
That strumming guitar still gives me chills.
This song remember me one old taberna here in Costa Rica which my girfriend in one pure kiss and kiss thanks boys americans one our memory
Best song ever!
My father and I used to listen to this song on 8 track tape in his 1969 Toyota Corona, summer 1975. Miss those days.
STILL HERE IN 2020
Before the sun is just a bright spot in the nighttime...
Beautiful... heartbreaking.... haunting lyrics...
That instrumental bridge. All of it; every note, every sibilance. THAT was the 70s, right there. Captures it perfectly.
They “owned” the Top 40 in the early 70’s. A great, unheralded group.
Not unheralded by us. :)
BELLA BELLA BELLA.........WHAT A BEAUTIFUL TIME !! THANKS 3 DOG NIGHT !!!
They use to dominate AM top 40 radio back in the first few years of the 1970s. They had that sound down.
I think it’s overdue for Three Dog Night, to be voted in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Go to The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Facebook and let them know.
This song just makes me feel good. Not just then but anytime I hear it. Should be in the RRHOF.
TDN, you're in my HOF
my brain can breathe out in the country and it is always 1970
Those songs will be played forever. Music today will only be for today.
When the sun is just a bright spot in the nighttime. ahahahaha.
am i unique ? born 55 divorced long time ago deep in love for 14 years now what greatly helped me heal and re believe in love was all the great innocent simple music of our era from midnight confessions to this song to tighter and tighter to couldnt i just tell you to a girl like you and on and on
this song is fresh, happy, carefree and eternal!
before the breathn' air is gone-may be sooner than we think
Living it!!
Anyone "Out in the Country" in Jan,2020 ???
Met these guys loading up their plane Sunday morning after their Sat. Night show at Greensboro, NC airport. Really nice guys. 1974
politics...it touches and ruins everything
As a seven year old I used to confused Three Dog Night and America since they were both trios. I don’t think either gets the recognition they deserve.
Riding my Harley Road Glide from LA to Monterey on Coast Highway 1 with this on "repeat".
Listening 12/28/2019. And loving it still
Didnt appreciate this when I was fourteen. Now it’s one of my favorites.
More relevant than ever
The sound of vinyl is so-o comforting. This was one of the first singles I ever bought. It's fascinating that the three "most hated" bands (by Rolling Stone) were arguably the three most popular in the early 70s. TDN, Chicago, and Grand Funk Railroad. Also kind of neat that you could see the nation's vibe of "getting back" to basics: TDN had "Out in the Country", Chicago II had "In the Country", and the Funk had "Country Road". Rock on, boys!
My favorite Three Dog Night Song!!!
Love this
Just close your eyes
And you are out in the country...
Sure America was at war in Vietnam then with protesters and all but America sure was a better and happier place then, I miss that America so much.
1970 I was a 2 yr old but good music was played a lot in my childhood.
Paul Williams ! thank you …..
A GENIUS
vastly underrated….thanks for the memories….
". . . the time passed away with us, and also our lives passed away like as it were unto us a dream . . ."
With the first note of this song I am transported back to the 70s.
What a great, great song so meaningful love it
I’m no tree hugging wacko. But I still get the gist of this song. My favorite by a group that had a ton of great songs
Absolutely FANTASTIC song......close your eyes, smile and enjoy!!
ONE OF THE BEST SONGS EVER PRODUCED THIS IS SO FUCKING GREAT
Gordon Berg (R.I.P.) taught me to play the simple organ solo, on the piano in the Band Room 1970
several years back,i met the band and chatted about 8-10mins.i told them they were my pre party days, band and will always be with me until i pass on.i made the comment, ''i wish i could be like you guys'. one of them said,''well a lot of folks want to be in a popular band.the fame, the money, fans, but the travel gets a bit old.'' i said,''no,i am not talking about you being a star on stage or fame or money...i am talking about something more important...you and your music, takes people back to their younger days, you know, they feel young again..you just make people happy.'' when i said that, you could have heard a pin drop.they all looked at each other and one of them said,''wow,i feel humbled..thank you.''
Youth is such a flitting thing.....
GREAT!!!!!!!!!!
Love this song!
One of the great songs of one of the great groups
old tune here
still stands time
First heard this song while hitchhiking back to San Francisco from camping at the Navaro river in Mendocino county.Met a pretty girl named Christy and we hitched all the way back to the city together. We even stayed in touch for a while. I hope she's well.
I'm old now, what happened?
This is my dads favorite group
Going to see them next month. So excited! Always one of my favorite bands growing up.

Joe Ann Not to nitpick but it’s “From the beginning “ and yes it is an awesome song as is many from that era. I was very lucky to have been a youngster back then. So many great tunes👍
You are so right! 1970’s were the best baby!!! So glad I got to live these years as a teenager. Lots of heartache but so many good times!!! 70’s rock!
I want to invite all of my brothers and sisters who read this to read The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. Thank you
The show must go on.
I love the Hammond B3 organ! So great!
