Three Dog Night One Man Band Comments
  1. R.... S....

    My fave 3DN song

  2. B.... R....

I did not realize it was their 5th album

  3. R.... M....

Mike Allsup and that fuzzed and Leslied guitar. He owns that sound. Saw them twice (71 and 73). He was amazing!

  4. b.... ....

Not enough Cowbell but a totally Groovy song ! I miss those days 😍

  5. B.... R....

I was in junior high when this song came out, 8th grade

  6. B.... M....

Na, Cory has that voice inflection and nuance that makes him the perfect late 60's early 70's classic rock vocalist. Example- 'Shambala', a reletively tame tune but with Cory's delivery style gives the song more of an 'edge' and cool than the song indicates. Another great example is 'Mama told me not to come', a Randy Newman composition which is a DUD, now compare the TDN version, see what I mean? How bout' Eli's coming', or another 'mellow' one in 'Sure as I'm sittin here', Cory takes tame stuff and gives it some punch. Chuck is great, but you can keep your falsetto singers.

  7. B.... M....

I'm a tenor singer listener and I consider Cory Wells the Coolest sounding early 70's rock singing tenor, sorry Chuck.

    B.... M....

Bob Malack Chuck Negron has the best voice of this group, Bob. Sorry.😊💒

  22. A.... M....

I remember this song when my mother's sister came to live with us to go to school i was 9 years old.Thank you Mama and Reni for all the great music I Love you Both.

  23. D.... T....

This song is for 1949-1967 VW Bus, Westfalia campers Panel trucks, and pick up trucks with 6 volt electrical system. Actually it's 1950 VW Type 2, 1949 VW Type 2 is only a prototype model. For 1968, VW Type 2, including Westfalia Campers are totally styled and numerous changes, such as: bigger windows including one piece wraparound windshield, improved one piece sealed beam headlights; glass cover over sealed beam headlights eliminated, 12 volt electrical system is standard, padded dashboard, redesigned steering wheel with angle spokes for added safety, sliding door replaced swing out doors, and back up lights are standard.

  24. d.... f....

I saw Uriah Heep and 3DN together in '71 at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio...unbelievable...

  25. J.... W....

It's SO great to hear this song again--I hadn't heard it in years! Chuck Negron has the best voice, of any of these three guys, but together they made perfect music.😊💒

  26. J.... W....

It's SO great to hear this song again--I hadn't heard it in years! Chuck Negron has the best voice, of any of these three guys, but together they made perfect music.😊💒

  27. m.... ....

I knew the co-writer of this song Billy Fox in his golden years. I was a joy to be around, may he RIP.

  28. K.... S....

    What a tune ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡

  29. A.... ....

A good friend of mine thought he was hot shit because he briefly dated Chuck Negron's sister in the 70's.

  30. d.... ....

I hear this song... from this wonderful album, and all i can think of is brownies... oh lord, the magical brownies, and the magical music that went with them

  31. p.... t....

Hall of Fame music at its very best, one of the greatest groups of all time

  32. B.... M....

This and 'Family of man' are my 2 best tunes, their stuff after '72 gets mushy, less punchy and more commercial. Cory Wells is coolest sounding singer of the 3 in my opinion.

  33. B.... R....

This song came out in my last year of Junior High, 8th grade, love this song!

  34. p.... t....

    Magnificent Hall of Fame Masterpiece

  35. L.... W....

Check out "Into My Life"off the "Cyan" album.Chuck Negron incredible voice.

  36. L.... W....

3 dog night should be in the rock n roll hall of fame (if they aren't already).

  37. L.... W....

My fav group of all time

  38. J.... S....

Late autumn 1970, I was in 8th grade, and it was a miserable school year, however the music of the time was great. Hearing this in you tube is the first tine I have heard this song in 30 years.

  39. C.... ....

    Hooray for Three Dog Night!

  40. J.... M....

Who had all their 8 tracks back then?

  41. R.... L....

GREAT rock song !   Great album cover too     I've loved this song since 1970, and I've loved the band since there was a band.   Thanks for the memories.   Ron L.

  42. T.... P....

    Floyd Sneed powerful drummer!!!!!

  43. M.... R....

I was just reading about someone saying 3 dog night was not a good band so I had to come and listen to one of my favorite songs by the dog I love this one and try a little tenderness and lords knows the world need that. and the ending oooooooooo

  44. D.... S....

Ooh, I forgot about this one!

  45. m.... t....

i had 3rd row seats at the denver collisium in 1970! but i didn't know this was their 5th album!

  46. J.... L....

I remember having this album. This was one of their best songs. Underrated band.

  47. B.... O....

One Man Band.,.followed by I'll be Creeping!!!! Good sequencing!!

  48. B.... O....

Surprising, but the Dogs maxed out with only one or two Top Tens per album!!!

    B.... O....

    so what??

  49. D.... C....

Every 3 Dog Night song on Youtube should have a reference to The Mothers - Do you like my new car? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5RFzWUC5nM

    D.... C....

That being said, 3 Dog Night were the sound track of of my adolescence.

  50. J.... M....

Would some one please bring back the 60s and 70s. The music today just sucks.

    J.... M....

I'll try my best this way it's the only way there is right now so we can go back will get that machine built

  51. J.... Z....

Leo Sayer sang One Man Band better,

    J.... Z....

John Zyp Leo Sayer? I'm gonna have to look that up

    J.... Z....

    oh please

  52. R.... O....

Saw TDN at the Nassau Colosseum when I was 12. My first concert.

    R.... O....

what yr? I say Humble Pie there in 74... my 1st arena concert.

  53. T.... P....

the rich texture and layers of this one is badass!!!!! even got cowbell ha ha

  54. G.... A....

See you upstairs to Corey did a good job brother you deserve your reward

  55. t.... ....

The songwriter, Thomas Jefferson Kaye, did his own version on his 2nd album in 1973. I put both in my TDN playlist. Thanks for the upload!

  56. C.... G....

Love the harmonies on this track! Thanks for uploading and sharing.

  57. S.... W....

LOVE THE FUZZED OUT GUITAR WORK ON THIS TRACK!

  58. B.... M....

...and although they did mostly 'covers' of others material, it was their mastery of rearranging the compositions into solidly composed structured pieces, which for the most part was far superior to the original. Example-Randy Neuman's 'Mama told me not to come' is practically a dud, now compare it to the TDN version, see what l mean?!

  59. B.... M....

This is badest, tastiest 3 dog night tune of all of them, 1969-71 their core best years. I was in high school then. 'Mama told me not to come', 'Eli's coming', 'Liar', and 'Family of man' my other favorites. Cory Wells to me was the best/coolest sounding vocalist of the 3, but they were all good.

  60. D.... N....

One of THE most versatile rock bands ever!!!

  61. T.... C....

I play and sing and play bass lefty. play a little piano guitar right reverse . One Man Band.

  62. s.... ....

The intro to this song always blows me away. First, that beautiful organ. And for the longest time I couldn't figure out what instrument was being played during the second part of the intro. I finally realized it's a screaming Leslie-driven sustained and distorted guitar. And then back to the organ. The last part of the song makes it obvious concerning that guitar. What a sound and what a band!

    s.... ....

Wow you really know your music!

  63. b.... ....

This is one of those songs you wish would go on a lot longer.

  64. b.... d....

    Love that intro........

  65. D.... E....

Amazing grove, funky left and right!

  66. T.... C....

My Wfes just. Passed away in 1992 and the wake was on same Day but TDN was playing at the fair . i took my little 11 yr old daughter to the Fair to see them. They had original. Lesley. Organ and sound with 3 minus Chuck Nehron but kicked Ass.

    T.... C....

    Sorry for your loss.

  67. R.... L....

    one of the best rocker

  68. d.... j....

My parrot loves this song. She dances to it too :)

  69. J.... C....

One of the best from the day !!!

  70. N.... S....

Craig ,feel the same way.Don and Mel(Grand Funk)need to get over the rift with Mark Farner and vice/versa.

  71. M.... F....

I love this song haunting organ sounds ! What a great song !
Thanks 3 dog night and Jimmy Greenspoon !

  72. p.... ....

This is an oddly-underrated Dog track. They had hit singles thanks to covers of others' work (Argent, Nilsson, and a few others among them), but recorded a bunch of other songs and then some, covers or not.

This is one of those 'under the radar' songs. "Joy to the World' pretty much carried this album upon release, so the rest was (unless you're an oldies / classic rock die-hard) ignored. That in mind, thanks for bringing this one back out front. The band and harmonizing vocals are tight here. They also knew how to mix their recordings where be it mono or stereo (this being in the latter format), it all sounded good and full.

  73. C.... M....

Thanks for posting this great song from a legendary group. Gotta get Negron back with Hutton before it's too late. Work it out, guys! You have too much left to share with the world.

    C.... M....

    You're welcome!

    C.... M....

Friends just saw them in Boise

    C.... M....

Hate to tell you this, but Chuck Negron doesn't exactly sound the same as he did back in the 1970's. I guess all those drugs didn't help his voice--what a shame. He had one of the most beautiful voices EVER!😒💒

  74. S.... E....

We were fortunate to see Three Dog Night just before Jimmy Greenspoon and Cory Wells past away at a show in Fort Pierce, FL. They were spectacular. I would like to see Chuck Negron rejoin Danny Hutton on stage with the band again (before it's too late) but he would have to drop his corny Vegas act and sing the songs true to the way they were recorded to make it work..

    S.... E....

I too, saw a pared-down Three Dog Night lineup with Danny Hutton & Cory Wells in Davenport, IA in 1989. Both Chuck Negron & Floyd Sneed had been absent from the group for a few years at the time, & Jimmy Greenspoon wasn't in TDN at the time, but I believe Mike Allsup was. Today, TDN consists of original members Danny Hutton (vocals) & Mike Allsup (lead guitar). The reason Chuck Negron isn't in TDN now is because Danny Hutton won't let him back in, & it hasn't a thing to do with Chuck's past rampant drug use, either. The reason Danny won't let Chuck back in TDN is because 1) if Chuck were to return, that means less front & center time for Danny & 2) Danny will have to split a bigger cut of the money with Chuck, which Danny does not want to do, especially now that he has complete control of the group, as well as being the one out in front and not in the background like he was during TDN's heyday. BTW, Chuck's solo shows are not a "corny Vegas-style act" - they are a truer representation of Three Dog Night as opposed to the group that plays under that name now!

R.I.P., Cory Wells, Jimmy Greenspoon & Joe Schermie.

  75. j.... m....

    captured live at the forum!!!!!!!!!

    j.... m....

jeffrey mcglone My cousin had that LP

  76. e.... ....

Three dog night WAS the 70's.
The quintessential sound of their time.
Their vocal harmonies were unparalleled. Even to this day. You know it.

    e.... ....

    Gotta agree.

    e.... ....

    Totally agree.

    e.... ....

there band was way underrated too...they shredded.

  77. J.... D....

Saw them in 1988 when they were down one man and they still sounded great!

  78. D.... A....

Still just as Fresh as the first time I listened to this fantastic group with all of its raw talent! One of the best ever! Maybe even better then the you know who, a hint it had four members.

  79. f.... ....

    Timeless- thank you

  80. J.... C....

One of the best bands of all time !!!

    J.... C....

    Yes !!!!

  81. D.... F....

Why are saying they are underrated? they sold about 100 million records... They aren't underrated.. they were and are loved by tens of millions of people all over the world.

    D.... F....

+Doug Fergus With all due respect, not being in the RRHOF flatly, roundly, archly and by any measure qualifies as underrated.

  82. D.... F....

Hello Daryl: Three Dog Night should HAVE been....

  83. J.... G....

December 1970. 45 years have passed since this song was on the charts but it sounds as good now as it did then. An underrated song by an underrated group that was in its heyday back in the early '70s...

    J.... G....

Rowdy, you are totally right! This was one of my favorite groups from those early 70s years.

  84. C.... C....

    Great underrated band........what a shame.

  85. M.... F....

What a great song this is !

  86. D.... S....

Three Dog Night should of been the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame a long time ago.

    D.... S....

Both 3DN and GFRR should be in the Hall.

    D.... S....

    Yep, Grand Funk LONG overdue!!!

    D.... S....

    Daryl Spetz indeed

    D.... S....

Can't we just enjoy their music, without griping about their not being in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?😒💒

    D.... S....

    No creo que lo logren
    Porque son buenos intérpretes
Pero como músicos poco hicieron composición
Aunque que les diré que fueron buenísimos

  87. H.... ....

    Rest in Peace, Corey Wells.

  88. M.... M....

One of the first LP's I ever bought as a kid.  Still love all these years later.

  89. S.... J....

TDN, Chicago, BS&T and EW&F. Ahh . . . that my friends was music! Used to go to sleep every night on "Golden Biscuits" and the Stylistics' "Chapter 2" albums. Good memories.

    G.... H....

    Tight ass drumming from Floyd

  91. J.... C....

    awesome keyboards!

  92. J.... V....

This is my second favorite song, next to "Out in the country". They are such a talented group, with songs most of us can relate to!! :)

    J.... V....

Joseph Vulich yep, I agree! Out in the Country is number one (Still gives me goosebumps) followed by "Liar" and then this song:)

    J.... V....

My number one favorite by them! It's another "I gotta have more cowbell" song at 1:41, and later all the way to the end. Great job F.S.! (The rest of them too.)

    J.... V....

What about "Easy To Be Hard", or "Pieces of April", or "Celebrate"? You left out alot of their hits!!😒💒

    J.... V....

Out in the Country. My all time fave. 💖

  93. D.... H....

I love this song. My 3DN favorite.

  99. F.... C....

"one man band" was written by Tom Kaye, who later produced former Byrd,Gene Clark's album, NO OTHER.

  100. q.... 1....
