Three Dog Night Cowboy Comments
Absolutely Chuck! Strong voice! Up there with the HOF voices. His strong , powerful lead vocals and subtle accessory background vocals lead 3DN through some classic rock and ballads. His soft, subtle, but powerful vocals as in "Pieces of April" show he can do soft flowing melodic parts, then switch to heavy vocal, but still sing beautiful meoldic parts with great feeling. He's one of a kind. HOF vocalist anyone?
Nice song 'n I like it
Randy Newman was known for his silly songs. More spotlight should be shined on songs like this. Just stunning. And it certainly helped to have Chucks beautiful voice doing it justice.
I get very emotional when I hear this or When It’s Over. Chucks voice is mesmerizing.
One of the best ...
Didn’t have extra cash for singles and lp’s when I was young, so I’m just discovering some of their songs that were not frequently played on AM radio. Thank you to all who are posting them on YouTube. Makes me feel young again.
I wasn't born yet when this song came out...but this is one of my most favorite song ever...this man's voice (I don't even know who he is/was!) is amazing...a man's manly voice...
Chuck Negron
Chuck Negron bersuara emas.
WOW WOW WOW!
From a mad keen 76yo Aussie fan.
Mantap...
Chuck Negron had a wonderful voice. One of the best I've ever heard. Combine his vocals with Cory Wells and Danny Hutton and you had some of the best harmony in all of 60's rock and roll.
What!? How did I manage to not comment on this ... I Love this song. Love & Peace to All
Chuck is a friend of mine I want to do this for him but ...not available!
Poor cowboy. A sad situation for him.
In the early 70's, after leaving the farm, I first heard this song. The pain of leaving such a wonderful life was sure highlighted by this song. Not only the cowboy, ranchers, and farmers, but anyone that made their life from the land would probably have pains from this song. So many of the people that truly loved this life off the land were true stewarts of their land, and took great care of it because it was a part of them. But big business, special interest groups, and government have pushed the true stewarts off the land, and the rape is on. For big businesses, the land is just a tool, and special interests just want to keep it away from you. And those good stewarts who would care and share this wonderful resource are aliens in town and cities, far from their true home. This song is for them and their plight.
Your message made me cry, and I’ve always been a city girl. But my mom grew up on a dairy farm, and I believe she always missed it.
I love u Dad...
the best song
This is one of Three Dog Night's best songs. It's so beautiful.
A little over a year ago, I sang a cover of it. Here's the link of the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdtnxTJ7dUo&t=14s

I heard this song the first time in the early 70's and loved it. Found it here today! Beautiful song!
The Great Chuck Negron! TDN is NOT! the same wthout him.
Agreed! I loved Cory, but Chuck was the sound of 3DN. “When it’s Over” is another great one with Chuck singing lead.
great song one of the best

A great non-single from Three Dog Night! A song that's as good, if not better than any of their hits. Written by Randy Newman. From the TDN LP "It Ain't Easy" (a great LP!). Thanks for posting it!
Bravo, Danny Hutton, Chuck Negron & Cory Wells!
that's what I liked about the albums from the 60's and 70's......some of the songs on the albums were greater than the ones they released as 45's....there was no fluff on the albums....no "filler" songs....
