  2. J.... W....

I know through the decades every teenager thinks theirs was the best.... but I just can't imagine teenies from 2010's could have a millionth of the fun, love and fecking great music as we had in the 80s.

  3. F.... k....

  9. P.... ....

When this song was first played in the US, the yanks werent so 'peachy'..it sounded too Middle Eastern for them...but with time they came to like like it though it wasnt as popular s their other songs. Later, Aladdin came out and the rest was history...lol

  10. L.... ....

    BanderSnatch

  11. N.... M....

    Bandersnatch?

  12. J.... N....

vim pela referência em Black Mirror

  13. R.... B....

This song was a warning about the nasties in that country that have been trying to take over since their arrival. And l assume that is why the person below asks if the UK understands now!

  14. J.... B....

Whoo! This was so cool to hear again! Thank you for sharing! I haven't heard this in about 30 years I'd say :O

  15. M.... A....

Phanominal tunes ahead of their time

  16. C.... M....

The Thompsons were at the very top of their game wth this title track of the best album of 1984. Sadly their rise was as rapid as their decline in record sales. They should have been huge for years....

  17. M.... C....

I remember seeing How Leeway in Manhattan Beach CA. I blocked his car from pulling out as I was singing "passion planet" way too funny!

  18. M.... K....

Oh to return to the Exchange hotel on Oxford St Sydney in 85, Billy Idol hair dancing on the small elevated dance floor and podium and a sea of New Romantic, Goth, Rockabilly, Punks, Drag queens etc etc we had an amazing underground scene all but gone in 2018 :-(

  19. W.... W....

Wish I was born in this decade. MUCH better music

  20. g.... ....

One of the best songs of 1984 hands down!

    Very nice song from TT's.

  26. M.... M....

Alot of people missed the point of this song.
Do you get it now UK?

    M.... M....

I get it. They knew about those nasty people over their who had evil plans. But could not be to blunt. And yes it has been the plan by them before and during the arrival of every mosque built in any country. This song was a warning.

  27. C.... S....

    entered Billboard Nov 10, 1984 ..reached #69

  28. A.... K....

    Z.... B....

Proves what that shit site knows about music.... I bet it has every track by talentless idiots like Jay Z or Beyonce. ...

    Z.... B....

I was able to play this song's album at work through Spotify, but yes Spotify sucks.

  32. M.... A....

    immortal single :-)

  33. m.... ....

  39. T.... C....

The Cold War was certainly good for music.

    T.... C....

The threat of annihilation seems to bring out the best in us.

    T.... C....

This song wasn't inspired by the cold war though?

  40. K.... B....

    Luv it❤️

  41. r.... p....

I hear this song amongst their other hits and It brings me back to a time where if I could snap my fingers to be in the moment again back in time it would be awesome ! Fun times in the 80's there was nothin better 😁

    N.... R....

I agree! I love this song and all the different exotic sounds in it. I actually just discovered it (sorta by accident) and I'm glad I did!!

    N.... R....

Me, too - thought they were quite underrated.

    N.... R....

Alley Keosheyan Back in the day wherever they played their shows are usually sold out they had a lot of great songs that still sound good now

sorry for not respoinding sooner..this is NOT spam..it would be on my personal channel. The unknown song and artist of the song was played on SFstation the Quake back in 1982/83 along side this song and Yes- leave it. You can search teh string quake unknown song or go to my channel it is in there, any help is appreciated it is a pretty friggin cool song very progressive..

    R.... ....

    Loved The Quake!

  73. L.... E....

Know what I miss? Actually hearing this and all the great stuff from the 80's on VH1; Yeah, I know, they got that 'Totally 80's' thing going on now, but it's just not the same as when they were dedicated to playing music 24/7. And VH1 was INFINITELY better than MTV, because MTV had already degenerated into an almost exclusively rap and hip hop format at that point...and I just couldn't get behind that crap.

  74. T.... S....

My first concert! They were amazing!

  75. R.... ....

I love these guys! I need help with a song if anyone can please view the unknown song video and see if y'all know it or not? Myself and many other dj's have been trying to find this for over nine years. I was recorded by me off the quake around 1982-83ish and the gap came out shortly after. Any help would be appreciated! thx!

  76. R.... ....

@fery2 but was it a 12"??? Id be interested in that as well...

  77. m.... ....

Once when I worked in midtown Manhattan I would play this on my walkman whilst crossing Fifth Avenue as my lunchtime ritual.

  78. r.... ....

They performed this on SNL when it was still watchable.

  79. B.... ....

@Myworld1916 *India* ? That's a bit odd. This song uses *Middle Eastern* music, and *Aladdin* is Middle Eastern as well, not *Indian*

  80. w.... ....

@Pinballpete007 i loved the 80's, grad 83! hollar! anyways i like rap when it first came out, curtis blow, sugar hill gang, etc...rap now..sorry...too vulgar 4 me and i'm a grown woman if i had kids it would not come into my house. like i said went to all black school but mtv opened my eyes to different kinds of music which i STILL love today especially UK, Germany, anyting overseas really. :)

  81. N.... ....

i really wish i was born in the 80's when depeche mode and the thompson twins came out..........but nooooo i was born in the 90's and now i have to deal with the stupid shit songs out now, what do i have to look forward to when i get older to relive my teens? stupid ass lil wayne and transvestite lady gaga, i HATE the music out now

  82. d.... b....

is it just me or is 80's music so much more well produced.

  83. T.... ....

@bluejeckett I totally agree! I love listening to 80's music because it's when I was a teen. However, each decade has its merits. I love a lot of modern music as well as music from the 50's and 60's and everything in between. Great comment on your part!

  84. j.... ....

it'll be a sad day when this song is used to promote the vile clothing store chain, please dont sell-out this song

  85. j.... ....

@30301500 can i join you? the more the merrier

  86. n.... d....

is very similar to arcadia of duranduran the voice of him is very similar to simon lebon

  87. g.... ....

Is it just me or is this track more relavent now more than ever? It was about the Soviet Empire, but listen to the lyrics. Even the eastern melody fits..

  88. B.... ....

3 people live in the North and the South

  89. H.... D....

    @bottletree33
Her name is Allanah Currie (Curry) unsure of spellilng right now but it's def Allanah not Hannah

  90. t.... ....

They used to call this music "new wave" back in the day. Anyone listen to WLIR 92.7 FM Garden City Long Island during the 80's? I was into metal back in those days but I secretly indulged in a little WLIR from time to time....at least I knew who The Smiths were in '84 ;)

    t.... ....

tommybass40 - I was living and working in Norwalk Connecticut in the early 80s and we could get WLIR there. It was such an excellent radio station in those days. There will never be another decade as excellent as the 80s. I was stuck listening to drab music of 70s from my older brother’s record collection until the 80s came along and the explosion of new wave music. Finally something that I could call my own. The music of today is shit. There’s nothing that can compare to that era.

  91. j.... c....

me too, love the gap as a single

  92. f.... ....

    @bottletree33
Well, Into the Gap was released as a single in 1984, but only in US, Germany, other European countries, but not in the UK. You can check it in discogs.
