Thomas, B.J. - Two Car Garage Lyrics
I used to be Mr. Free, Tall, Dark and Cool
I did a solo act
Made up my own rules
Then you came along
And Changed my point of view
Just look at me
Looking at you
I can't believe the things
I'm looking forward to
Would you believe I'm thinking about
A two car garage
And a two story house
And a couple of kids
We can brag about
And too many bills to pay
And your two arms
Too make me happy living that way
I used to play such a game
Of hide and seek
I'd go looking for love
And hide if it saw me
You could find with my friends
Hanging out on the street
Now they're wondering where i could be
Well it's Saturday night
And it's just you and me
Snuggled up on the couch
Just watching TV
Would you believe I'm thinking about
A two car garage
And a two story house
And a couple of kids
We can brag about
Give me a two-toned Chevrolet
And too many bills to pay
And your two arms
Too make me happy living that way
If we don't get to Paris
It won't break our hearts
We'll just pack up the kids
And go to Yellowstone Park
I want a two car garage
And a two story house
And a couple of kids
We can brag about
Give me a two-toned Chevrolet
And too many bills to pay
And your two arms
Too make me happy living that way
All I want is you baby
And your sweet love
All I want is you baby
And a two car garage
All I want is you baby
And a two story house [fade out]

This is my husband and mine song. He said this song is what made him want to get married to me In 1984. It is my ring tone for my husband calls n texts... Thank you so much for posting it
Yes, this is a song that came from an era where people cared more about essence than money. Today all songs are written by algorithms and sung by people who can just "carry a tune", but have no talent.
God Bless BJ and your wonderful family....
Thank you Guy. Great God Bless !!!
I heard this on the radio
Billy Joe hit #3 on ACC, 2-18-84. God bless ya, brother B.J.! Thanks, Guy, for postin' it.
Thanks for posting this. Loved this as a child !
Absolutely classic Country! Mr B.J. Thomas ladies and gentleman!
One of the BEST songs EVER. I played this at my wedding because it meant that much to me. Thanks for the memories B.J……. Captain T, U.S.M.C.
Revisiting my Dad's LP's and ran across this tune on "Hot Country Hits Vol 19" Almost forgot about some of these songs from my childhood.
Looked for this song for a while.. thank you..
Thanks for the tip Irwin.
@ steven39211: The only place that can order cd's and vintage music like this is Earnest Tubb Record Shop in Nashville, TN. I got family in Antioch, so I am in there every Christmas and find some amazing music. (I would check the one on Broadway first.) The other one is by Dollywood @ the mall.
This is what REAL Country music is all about!! Thank you for another great song from a real country legend.
Wow....I love hearing all these old songs....this was the #1 song in 1984, when I was just 6 years old!
awesome tune!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember this from when I was a kid! Thank you so much for this. Great memories. :-)
ACC's #81 song of '84. God bless ya, brother BJ. Thanx for postin' it.
Fabulous song!
love !!
awesome song
To paraphrase BJ, what ever happened to old fashioned country?
wow.... how long since I heard this one? It's been over 20 years now. Though at the time I was just a kid and had no idea what he was singing about.
Awesome! I have a VERY special request for another of BJ's early 80's country hits, from the same year in fact that he also hit with this song and "Whatever Happened to old-Fashioned Love?"-1983. It's called "The Girl Most Likely To". If you have that and could post it, that would surely be a YouTube first, as it is does not appear anywhere else on here. That would be awesome! Thanks!
It is great hearing this song after all these years, I have always loved this song. Awesone
I loved it. BJThomas is the best.
Hit #3 in Billboard, 2-18-84. God bless you, brother B.J.!
this is the song my dad love play
@omg747 I, too, remember the video for this one, VERY well. In fact, not only was it one of the first country videos to be given an MTV-Friendly look and budget, but also recieved VERY HEAVY rotation on CMT early in their existence(Hands up, who remembers when CMT signed on late '83/early '84!)
omg747... i remember the video, in fact, I still have the entire video from Great American Country channel on videotape. It was one of my cherished music video cassettes, I always kept this tape positioned to this song so I could drop it in the VHS recorder and play right away.
Thank You this is his best. There was a video to this song but I have not seen it in over 20 years.
Bravo for posting this , one my favs by BJ,, been looking for it forever! Thanks so much:))))
