its funny how so many people love this album but a lot of these songs are children's songs

None of these songs are children's songs per se.

objection, children hate songs like this. They do write songs for kids but this album is targeted at an older audience, teen/adult, I believe. You know, with the songs about death and life's meaning stuff.

My kids just won't shut up about how they want to hear more songs about Istanbul. Or is it Constantinople? I can't remember.

Taiki Jitoku I think it might me about whistling in the dark

My take on this song is that most people walk through life making their decisions and who they are based on rules of society and what people tell them, instead of actually being themselves. They're essentially "whistling in the dark". People will come up and "poison your mind with wrong ideas that appeal to you", although, they're not necessarily trying to be unkind, it's simply the best way that they know. People will come up to you and try and change your mind of things, the way your true self really wants to be, to how they feel it should be, and essentially put you in a metaphorical jail, where you live with them, and you never really end up just being yourself, you're just having a wonderful time whistling in the dark.

It's supposed to be about ignorance. But frankly, who cares?

Well, "whistling in the dark" is apparently a way of saying "pretending to be brave when you aren't," so make of that what you will
