I listened to this song and then a few minutes later my history teacher started talking about the Trail of Tears. In case if you don't know, the Trail of Tears was a huge thousand-mile journey the Indians had to walk when they were forced out of their native lands. 1 out of 4 of them died from starvation, freezing to death, or disease.

I came across this song again after many many years just a few weeks ago. I need to listen to this song at least once a day now. So many great memories of great music. I miss those days.

Moved away from the hometown 22yrs ago. The guitar playin and jamming with the bros was over. And yes I'm stoned. The family of my own had started. Still rocked out to all my favorite bands from school n the good old days. I'm 47 and just a day ago discovered this song!!!!! Been listening to testament since the 80' n my book they're in the top of all metal bands then. And without a doubt the best at ballads. These guys got me through some tough shit back then. Very inspirational metal bad. Never give up or quit at life. This is just one more to add to the list of underrated tunes from testament. Kids are grown so I've picked up the guitar again and jamming to songs I never knew existed.

Imagine my surprise while applying for student aid in college they asked me about my Indian heritage. I said I had none. The lady said are you serious?! You need to ask your family, so I go ask my mom and she says oh yeah honey, Cherokee in your veins, didnt I tell you that? Why do you think you turn a pretty purple when burnt and everyone else turns burnt red. I felt so betrayed that no one had told me this. I refused to apply as an Indian out of respect for those that KNEW and lived with it their whole lives. Wife gives me hell now that I never BURN, I just become darker. i guess the Indian blood mixed with Viking and Irish heritage didn't know how to cope with the sun!

In memory of the Native American lives who were forcefully removed from their ancestral homelands and who suffered from exposure, disease, and starvation while en route to Indian Territory (present day Oklahoma).

I came by this title first time when reading "Empire of the Summer Moon" by S. C. Gwynne. Awsome book!
