As awesome as these guys were....they have such a horrible studio sound....it sounds like there's too much background noise and it almost seems like a very cloudy white noise effect which kinda cheapens their effort

Isn't this just brilliant?! I love the faster, heavier, more aggressive stuff but sometimes you need something melodic but powerful and this fills that need for me.

I wanna ask the old school Metalheads in the US who saw them in action. How come Testament while having Awesome Ballads & Thrash tunes, a record label, video clips & tours , never got the same hype & recognition as the others , i'm seriously asking because theres no logical answer , i'm a 32 yo Egyptian who discovered Testament by pure chance & only bec. i was looking at other metal videos , but what a find it was , Testament are pure Magic specially this Masterpiece

I love the long intro, They dont do it like that anymore.. Why? Is everything now a thing of the past? Just think that music is a true emotion.. I cant help to feel that my youth is over and Death is near and i dont want to die...

This song brings back a very weirdly specific memory...
The year is 2008, I am 6 years old. It's 11 at night and my dad is driving me home from my aunt's house. I'm sitting in the back seat of his car, looking out the window thinking about god knows what, as he plays this song. Life was good.

My first listen to this track. My reaction is,

Combine 1 Megadeth and 2 Iron Maiden

Add Metallica as preferred

In this track you can clearly hear Alex Scholnick's writing style which was more of the Blues/ slow metaphoric type of writings. You can also hear it on the Ballad track on Practice what you Preach CD and Return to Serenity on the Ritual CD. Now what about when the song speeds up and goes full force at 100mph. That's Eric Peterson playing cause that was his style of writing songs for Testament. Hard, fast pace and exceptionally loud. These writings can be heard in tracks like Faces in the Sky, Souls of Black, Absence of Light and Malpractice on the Souls CD. Why did Alex split on the Next album ?? Him and Eric were having problems with creative differences when it came to writing styles and how to write songs the right way where both styles could be heard but Eric was hell bent on keeping his way of writings being the style that Testament went in so Alex packed his crap, left the band and did not return until after Formation of Damnation was released.

Loved their slow songs. They would just come out of no where on their records

And the music still kicks ass.

This song is one of Testament's most underrated gems. Perhaps my favorite metal ballad ever written, sang & composed. Testament was and still is one of the best bands to ever exist. Thank you for creating this song that I have so horribly sang & butchered countless of times.
