You know what? TesseracT is music for the soul. Songs like this make me reflect about my own existance. Only TesseracT can do that.

What blows my mind is that Tesseract use amazing parts like the 4:10 one just once,wow.other bands would have used that 4 or 5 times to have a kick ass chorus for their song.

“I’m half crazy over the love of you?” Is this like some kind of weird ironic humor?

As solid as this song is, I really don't understand why it's labeled as one song when it is clearly intended to be two separate songs. The music even completely stops at about 6 minutes in. There's even two separate titles for the separate "songs". It just feels forced that they made it be one song just for the sake of having a 10 minute song on the album.

Beneath My Skin and Mirror Image are two different songs on the CD. I'm not sure why it isn't the same for the digital release...

Tesseract's best songs are groovy to me. As in, that have an excellent grooves. At about 2:00 is my favorite, in this song, but Exiled, Concealing Fate Pt 1 & 2, Dystopia all have great groove parts. I think it's the drums and bass that really set the stage and then the floating guitar parts overtop of that that makes Tesseract have such a specific sound, and it's that sound that I love so much

Anyone else have some confusion over the lyrics in the 2:00 groove? The lyrics and spoken word don't seem to add up to me. What is claimed to be said and what it sounds like he's saying are so different

Ryan Wilkerson I think somehow the syllables in antiquity and antipathy are squished quite a bit.

I feel like this album is TesseracTs equivalent to BTBAM's Parallax double album, as far as sound progression goes. Definitely more in the ambient/artsy vein, but gloriously carrying forward many parts of their sound and songwriting that made us like them in the first place. Hopefully TesseracT has their Coma Ecliptic out of the way already with Polaris

I liked a few of Polaris's songs (Cages and Seven Names are great, I don't care what anyone says). I still think their first album was the best, I think it was the most ambient and groove sections of any of their albums. I didn't like the singing as much on Altered State, but the music was amazing nonetheless. This album has some good songs (this one is great), but some of the other shorter songs just feel like filler songs.

I swear, those explosive drums in Beneath My Skin are driving me insane!

Considering Tesseract is my favorite band...it's really difficult to pick tracks to make a "Best Of" mix. Very difficult. This one jumps out at me from Sonder. Absolutely brilliant and a definitive TesseracT song

Play Concealing fate, part 6, and play this song right after it. I swear, it feels like they ripped Concealing Fate out of space-time and implanted modern Tesseract. It's part 7 and 8 incarnate.

I'm either going insane, or this is a genius display of what this band was, and is. I fucking love these guys.

If anyone remembers how Concealing Fate ended, and they listen through these two songs to the end of Mirror Image with that expectation... it was simply core-shaking to me. Goosebumps from the structure and almost in tears from the lyrics.

the last few minutes of mirror image are... absolutely ..MESMERIZING.....so beautiful.

The entire build-up from 7:45 is probably my favorite aspect of Tesseract. They're so skilled at building tension, and it makes the massive culmination at 9:28 so powerful. Straight chills down my spine.

Anyone else find that last riff to be beautiful/epic and yet a bit frustrating? I feel like I get what they were going for but it slightly misses the mark throughout its entirety. It's like its bouncing all around the point of perfection without ever aligning correctly. And yet I understand because I can't quite make it work out the way I want it to in my head either haha.

The end of Mirror Image? I get what you mean about the alignment, the timing of the whole song is funky. I'm not an educated musician, but the beat count is 6, 6 and 4, which leads to the feeling of incompleteness at the end of each measure. Also, they love polyrhythms, so you have the kick drum playing 4, 4 and 3.5, which further messes with the mind. I'd like to think that the structure was intentionally written to evoke those feelings you mention, but it may have just been a happy accident.

Honestly, the ending is one of my favorite parts of the whole album.

I love it for exactly that reason! Every time it gets to those 4 hits, for a total of an extra half of the quarter note rhythm, it draws me in with tension and then it releases with every chord change! It does with rhythm what is usually the job of harmony!

I love tesseract's polyrhythm's, and this one is fantastic

i'd almost say it's cathartic, but I don't think that's quite the right word. It's just such a tesseract-like sound: the high flowing, meandering guitar, the rhythmic bass a drums, and the soft, almost cautious vocals. It's beautiful and it's what I love about tesseract (and I still love their heavy rhythmic portions too, Exile is one of my favs)

+Jeff Neeley So you basically want HEAVY HEAVY HEAVY with barely any melody? One is a great album but it's the past. This album encompasses an element from each album that makes it perfect. It has the screams and breakdown outros of one, the ambience of Altered state but the groove and tone of Polaris. One is definitely not their best album and they've grown up and matured in their songwriting since then.

I just hope they can lengthen it up next time

No substance? I never really listen to the lyrics with this band (except April...that gives chills), but Singularity, Eclipse, and especially Exile definitely have substance and groove to me. Maybe explain better what you mean by 'substance'?

Intro reminds me of Interstellar, alongside that theme of astral space with "Orbital".
They did amazing work integrating sounds together to create an experience of sound, music, and art. Blended together with soul and passion and talent.
I hope to be able to see what sounds they used exactly and what they were of

Sk8foxx It would not surprise me if they took that riff from Interstellar. Being a musician myself, the first time I saw Interstellar, I loved that melody and thought it work great in a progressive song like this. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one. See also: the riff in the middle of Phoenix from Polaris. I think this is a variation of the same riff, probably both based on Interstellar.

This song is a masterpiece. It starts off slower and sets the mood, and then tension increases and the song blows up. I love how Dan is talking about how hard people hate on love and say that it hurts them, but he is trying to portray that love is a good thing that we need more of. The entire band blends so well and is so expressive. I love me some TesseracT. Music for the soul.
