Teenage Fanclub - The Darkest Part Of The Night Lyrics
Do you think of me when you're turning down the light?
A world away I'll dream of you tonight
I would do anything just to see you come alive
I long to see that sparkle in your eyes
Been lost to the light
You've been living in the darkest part of the night
It's with a heavy heart every time I go away
And I think about you each and every day
And when you're on your own I hope you can see
In time with you is where I want to be
You've been living in a bad dream baby, I know
Been lost to the light
You've been living in a bad dream baby, I know
Been lost to the light
You've been living in the darkest part of the night

Just listening to The Beatles and now this. My pop heaven....
Such a consistently brilliant body of work. This is right up there with their very best and its a long list. And that guitar break is perfect pop heaven.
Ace tune
Simply vintage Teenage Fanclub, on the new album.
could so easily fit alongside tunes on '....Northern Britain'.
This is awesome , a great , great song from a fantastic album!

Normans finest writing since "songs from northern Britain "
Powell Pressburger eh?? naw!
You like this one better because it is new: supporting their past work doesn't help them, but the chorus lyric isn't exactly strong even if the tune and solo are charmers. Flowing was a mini-masterpiece.
Powell Pressburger respect your opinion but i can only speak from my experience of being with the tfc most of my adult life (since 1990) and i can honestly say that this is one of normans top 3.. peace :)
love flowing too
It is a beauty, true. I bow to your experience and thanks for sharing that with me. I do tend to want more from a TF lyric, and for me, Flowing really delivered in a series of short phrases that together verged on profound, as well as the song providing the great melody. When I stop drifting like a cloud to their music on "Here", pulled up by focussing in on the lyrics rather than letting them just wash over me, the weightlessness seems a bad rather than good thing. Then again, the words on this one at least - The Darkest Part Of The Night - can melt the heart if you let them.
"You've been living in a bad dream most of your life". Another wonderful lyric.
Perfect harmonies
Pure class, have to say the Fanclub are on fire songwriting-wise with the melodic and lyrical content of the new album.
FFS this band have been on the go for nearly 30 YEARS and they're in no way a heritage act - they're still evolving and writing and releasing great new material. Unlike so many others of their time who have either long since left the building or are just trading on former glories...
My favorite track on this one I must say.
Agreed!
Sounds glorious, perfect music, Teenage Fanclub at their best!
