She is a great singer, but didn't anyone explain this is a song about a mother protecting her son? Going a sexy route is... kinda creepy, honestly.

How is she dressed sexy? She has a long sleave dress on. Plus she actually is a mother in real life unlike Amber.

Long sleeves do not matronly make. (do mom's have to be matronly? Of course not. But when the song has her, out of the gate, frustrated she has gained some weight and gone a bit gray - a perfect blond bob wig and gorgeously fitted dress seems like an odd choice) If you watch her other videos of her own music, this one is basically like those. It's... it's in the movements somehow. The over the shoulder slow wiggle. And being an actual mother isn't needed to convey a maternal energy. And moms can be seriously sexy. There is also the weird juxtaposition between perfectly coifed & tailored with the setting. Mothers can be anything and everything and are not expected to be 'mommy' 24/7. But when discussing your child, the tone DOES go from 'night out with her partner' to 'mom talking to/about child'. She looks and sounds like she stopped off after a recent video shoot of her own, wandered up to this stage and sang.

I like Amber and Tamar. The difference between the two is that. Tamar's version feels seasoned, like she's really singing this for her baby. Amber's feels like she is trying to find that emotional attachment to let's say giving birth and feeling that feel for her own baby. We can imagine, but until you have one or have raised one. You can't really embody it. If I'm making sense. Tamar's own is more mature, been through this, serving us huxtable momma realness. Amber's in more of imagining what it would be like to have that talk with your son who's gone off.

This is so good! I do prefer Amber's version to watch though. Amber's version is more humbling to watch. Tamars is a bit more sassy. This is more like a music video to me, while Amber tells more of a story in my opinion. I don't like NOT like it. I really do but I prefer Ambers ultimately. Every time I want to listen to this song I always end up playing both anyway 😂
