Well thank you Connor, and yes it is, and yes they are. You see, This is an Open C tuning. Which basicly means the open-string notes form a C major chord, which is the triad C,E,G having the root note C, the major third C,E, and the perfect fifth C,G. In this case it is CGCGCE. Only mister tallest man changed the E to a D. (He does that quite a lot, if i might add) But basicly when you strum the guitar without fretting you hear a C Major. Back to you Connor!

Clark Pham I love playing in DADGAD and it's now what I mostly write in nowadays, I just recently learned the gardener by him and the only difference between it and dadgad is the G goes to an E and you capo up to the 7th fret I believe. But yea it's totally different in most cases with open tunings which sucks but I enjoy figuring out what notes make cool sounding chords, but that's just normally how I write my stuff most times.
You can play some chords by fretting the same notes on the same fret if that makes sense, I couldn't tell you the name of any open tuning chords to me its just a matter of playing and finding out
