Sweet - Spotlight Lyrics

You know you're going to the dance tonight, my dear
'Cause I'm working you're going with the boy I hear
I won't be able to dance with you
But I'll know every little thing you do

I'm on spotlight, baby
I'm working on spotlight, baby

I can see you moving like a candle flickering bright
In my eyes I see you, in my mind it doesn't seem right
I may never be right for you
But every thing I do, I do for you

I'm on the spotlight, baby
I'm working on the spotlight, baby

I'm on the spotlight, baby
I'm working on the spotlight, baby

You know you're going to the dance tonight, my dear
'Cause I'm working you're going with the boy I hear
I won't be able to dance with you
But I'll know every little thing you do

I'm on the spotlight, baby
I'm working on the spotlight, baby
I'm on the spotlight, baby
I'm working on the spotlight, baby
I'm on the spotlight, baby
I'm working on the spotlight, baby
I'm on the spotlight, baby
I'm working on the spotlight, baby...

    .... ....

    прожектор,вроде

    .... ....

    .... ....

    @tatyana march да, прожектор.

  33. b.... ....

I first heard this song on Sweets Biggest Hits which I got for my 10th birthday. I'm 50 now and have been a Sweet fan all my life. This song is simply outstanding, Andy's solo on this is one of my all time favourites of his..

sweet never played charlton rock with the who in 74 they.never capitolised on it no reading rock or the whistle test i asked andy he said we were never asked they must have had shit managers they should have been screaming at them to.get them these gigs it wasnt to be
as good as anybody out there a that time great memories from a great band

  39. W.... ....

I was crazy about The Sweet back in the 70s. Hell Raiser especially used to drive me wild.

  40. D.... ....

Heard the original of this many years ago.. The 'B' side to 'Coco' if I remember rightly. Brilliant track.. Thanks for posting!

  41. T.... ....

GREAT VERSION! With 22 SWEET c.d.'s I must have it somewhere. My Boys !

  42. m.... ....

never heard this, and it is brilliant/

  43. v.... ....

bravísimo, una banda de gama alta!

  44. s.... ....

No way does this sound like a song from the very early 70's - love everything about this tune... the acoustic guitar intro gives me shivers up my spine each time I hear it!
Lovin' Andy's solo shots throughout and the main solo is great, and play the song loud enough and Mick's double bass beats go right through you.... Fantastic

  45. T.... ....

Never get tired of this song. I spent some time with the boys in the 70's in the U.S. Andy told me that Brian was thrown down a balcony [or two] in the fight and was kicked in the throat during the fight. I never asked more about it but I could tell it was a sore subject with them.Every time I was with them, Brian got drunk real fast .The other guys would drink but not at his level.

  46. c.... ....

Slade are one of my favourites, but I have to agree, The Sweet were much more original, doesnt surprise me they had hits in North America and Slade didnt.

  47. s.... ....

    @YamersLexx
pretty much what the rumours say - he got into a fight with some local yobs after going (alone) to his local pub in his roller. Whether it was jealousy that he was who he was or that he flirted with their girls idk, and neither does the author of the book. But the general consensus is that Brian's throat injury seems to have been deliberate!
Thanks for watching my vid :)

  48. A.... R....

WOW! I have been looking for that book but it's hard to get in the bookstores here. Ill have to go online. What did it say about Brians throat injury?

  49. s.... ....

I've just finished reading a book called: 'The man who sang Blockbuster' - fantastic look a Brian Connelly's life, and Sweet.
Some funnier moments - each time the band had a hit, Mick had a new T-shirt made (now we know why he's seen with a T-shirt saying 13 hit wonders!) and . . during a particularly looong solo from Andy, Mick was heard to shout 'Bloody Shut up!' from the control room, and this was left on the actual recording - (B side of Lady Starlight - where'd ya go)
    - worth a read :)

  50. b.... ....

This is a great song and features one of my favourite guitar solo's from Andy Scott. I've been playing guitar for 34 years and Andy is my main influence. A fantastic band, I coult myself very lucky to have seen them live twice, Hammersmith 1978and again after Brian had left, at the Lyceum in 1981... fantastic band who were so underrated it's untrue, and way ahead of their time

  51. s.... ....

    Sounds like The Thamesmen.

  52. J.... ....

Great song choice and excellent collage of pictures! *****
Funny how easy they've "sold" their talent to Chin and Chapman and didn't listen to Wainman more. From one side they made fame and money from the other lost a lot of credibility. This song is proof how Co-Co was Funny Funny in the year 1971! :)

  53. J.... ....

It seems it's all about guessing?!
Brian and Tucker were in the band Wainwright's Gentlemen in the 60's, yes. Glover was not the member but Gillan. Brian did replace Ian Gillan who joined Episode Six, where he met bassist Glover. Tucker was already in the band but left the band together with Brian after three years touring the clubs and pubs, in 68.

  54. J.... ....

I would doubt that info, credits goes to Connolly, Scott, Priest and Tucker, while the song was produced by Phil Wainman. It is all written and well known.
This song also prove that Sweet should have sticked with Phil who knew what sound would fit to band the best.

  55. s.... ....

    I agree -
They'd have made an awesome stadium band, don't you think.
They were supposed to support The Who at a football stadium venue in London, but because Brian was beaten up - they couldn't do it.
It's a shame, they'd have been the greatest and the loudest.
We might have been talking about Sweet now, with the same reverence shown to Led Zepplin!!!
Thanks to the guys and gals who take the time to put up the videos - we can all watch the Sweet we know and love, as often as we like!
    BRAVO!

  56. M.... ....

I played this awesome song hundreds of times since the 70's.
All people who hear it a few times hear the brilliance of it.
If Sweet had become famous with these kind of songs people would've taken them seriously from the beginning...

  57. s.... ....

    Didn't know that!!
    It's credited to Sweet . . .

I wonder why Roger Glover didin't claim on a lawsuit or something - though it wasn't released as a single was it - maybe that's why he didn't bother to dispute the ownership.

Great fact - thanks for sharing.

  58. s.... ....

    Isn't that a lovely picture at 01:06

  59. l.... ....

    Luv this song!!!!
