Sweet - Cockroach Lyrics

You crawled into my bed like a cockroach
The things you said made me lose my head
Like a waterfall
You've got a mouth like a VC-10
But I love you

You've got me in your arms
And your special charms
Ah yah ah yah
You, you got my head in circles
Ooh, loved ya
But I don't want nobody but you

Your mocking laugh at my inhibitions
You made a fuss broke my oedipus on my mothers side
You feel your way like a Sherman tank
But I love you

You're gonna take me there
I don't really care
My yah ah yah
You, you got my head in circles
Ooh, loved ya
And I don't want nobody but you

Turn around to me and bring your Mama
The way she freaks gives me the creeps
She's a mainline mess
You've got to know what you're doin' to your Daddy
'Cause I love you

You've got me in your arms
Ooh, your precious charms
Ah yah ah yah
You, you got my head in circles
Ooh, loved ya

Cockroach shows how Sweet could be a real hard rock band with in very interesting way, but do not compare Sweet with Zep or Purple. Sweet had some similarities with those bands and they also admitted, that especially Purple were their big idol.
Nevertheless, Sweet has/had their very personal way to make heavy material, like Cockraoch shows us. Long Live Sweet

  2. a.... ....

They were probably not underrated in the 70s but they are now

Mick Tucker has a great groove and right up there with the great 70's drummers Bonham, Paice, Palmer, Powell and Downey. For me The Sweet were 2 bands pop singles and this great rock band. Anyone thinking I missed Moon, I didn't.

    H.... A....

He was good but not Palmer good.

    H.... A....

@Tony Powell what about keith moon and bill ward?

    H.... A....

@Alfred Dorner They were great but not as good as Carl Palmer IMO.

  14. M.... N....

Brian is the best Singer all over the World

    M.... N....

    Brian was great

  15. M.... C....

this is the sweet not queen zep

  16. j.... a....

These guys were not to be out winked

  17. b.... ....

    DAMN I MISS THESE GUYS........

  18. C.... H....

Clearly inspired by Zeppelin, Purple, Queen (who weren't really a pop band yet) maybe Sabbath! It's where they wanted to go!

    C.... H....

Erm! Queen were about after The Sweet were big, in fact listen to Bohemian Rhapsody and see if you can find where Queen ripped off part of the Sweet sound

    C.... H....

Douglas Davie what do you mean?

    C.... H....

@Silver Dragon Douglas Davie means that Sweet's vocal harmonies are all over Queen's music and he's correct. Sweet influenced Queen 100%. Nothing wrong in that, bands are always influenced by what's gone before. Queen may be a more respected band than the Sweet but it changes nothing, the influence is there for all to hear.

  19. C.... H....

Clearly the boys didn't want to pussy foot around being a pop band anymore they wanted to get more down & dirty hard rock! & nothing wrong with that!!

  20. Y.... C....

A Different Song from the Masters... style by last times of the Zeppelin sound...

  21. R.... G....

    adoro the sweet.

  22. E.... I....

Fast 50 jahr alter Rock.Und immer noch gut.sie waren eine gute Band

  23. B.... P....

Mick Tucker OWNS this track. His Bonham-esque drumming is impeccable and pummeling. I also love the searing vocal from Brian, the amazing guitar solos from Andy, and the great percussive bass from Steve... just stunning.

    B.... P....

yup bonham drumbeat ala led zeppelin yea!)

    B.... P....

Hey, hey... Mick's bättre än Bonham.

    B.... P....

Of course - Zep were at Musicland the same time they recorded this - So he obviously adapted some karma!

  24. R.... J....

This band is so fucking under rated it's pathetic. They have so many great songs not to mention some great hits. Yes some of their songs sound like Zeppelin but who gives a shit. They rock!!

  25. g.... d....

Lato b di ''the lies in your eyes... un ritmo incalzante, potentissimo.

    g.... d....

Yes, right! flip-side fromThe Lies In Your Eyes.
Molti dei B-lati erano grandi canzoni

    @Ellen R. Bella!!!

  26. A.... U....

Cochroach from the album Give Us A Wink (1976) showed they could do more than pop//rock as they created maybe one of the coolest and hardiest Rock album in 1976, more or less a heavy one.
Great Album and well produced by Andy, Brian, Mick and Steve. AS soon as Louie Austin and Mack worked with Sweet, Queen wanted the same team to work with them....was it enviness or to be afraid of, Sweet would catch up them.

    A.... U....

Given the heavyness of this track and the album I am wondering if we could call Sweet one of the first Hard Rock/Heavy Metal bands of the era? They were heavier than Zepplin imo and harder than Queen, also one of the first bands I remember seeing that used twin base drums in the kit.

    A.... U....

mjarbar definitely. I consider them on the forefront of glam, metal, progressive, and punk. They may have looked silly at times, but fortunately, they had the attitude and abilities to pull it off.

    A.... U....

Give us a wink ...kicked ass straight out the gate!!!

  27. J.... E....

Another mad song by the SWEET

  28. E.... S....

    This was good !!!!!

    E.... S....

    Still good nowadays!!

  29. E.... R....

Good song. First time hearing this.

    E.... R....

    E.... R....

Ellen R.: There's a paperback book called 'Give us a slosh'.

    E.... R....

    Thanks for your info.

  30. d.... p....

they became a bit "bubble gum, but this song showed their hard/rock ability.Peace

    d.... p....

They started a bit bubble gum, but then became hard rocking and tight unit. Peace.

    d.... p....

    @Inside Bilderberg Indeed.

  31. E.... O....

They really were a great band.....totally underrated!!!

    E.... O....

You sir are so right !!!

    E.... O....

Underrated is better than over rated. Like bands like *cough cough, puke* nirvana

  32. D.... M....

great song! First time hearing it. The Sweet had a great sound. Wish they were still around and playing at a casino near me.
