Swans - Volcano Lyrics

Your lipstick smear across your face
Now toss your hair in dirty grace
Pink leather strap on your guitar
Now spread your legs - how bright you are
Mmmmmm... they all know your name
Mm - Cully, claw your way to - mm - fame

There's a star in her eyes and she knows it
There's a star in her mind yeah she chose it
There's a star in her eyes and she knows it
There's a star in her mind yeah she chose it
And every evening the sun comes up when she goes down
And every evening the mud fills up her bridal gown

The little girl inside of you
Has made her wish come true
And tonight you take the stage
You wear a dress of blood and lace
You left a stain where you have kneeled
But Cully you're still invisible

There's a star in her eyes and she knows it
There's a star in her mind yeah she chose it
There's a star in her eyes and she knows it
There's a star in her mind yeah she chose it
And every evening the sun comes up when she goes down
And every evening the mud fills up her bridal gown

Your lipstick smear across your face
Now toss your hair in dirty grace
Pink leather strap on your guitar
Now spread your legs just like a star

And I'd like to eat her breasts and know God
(There's a star in her eyes)
And I'd like to taste her flesh and grow hard
(There's a star in her eyes)
And I'd like to eat her breasts and grow God
(There's a star in her eyes)
And I'd like to suck her breath and blow hot
(There's a star in her eyes)

And I'd like to eat her breasts and know God
(There's a star in her eyes)
And I'd like to taste her flesh and grow hard
(There's a star in her eyes)
And I'd like to eat her breasts and grow God

  1. m.... ....

    Swans Grips

  2. N.... E....

I like that the description still says "From their final album"

  3. A.... D....

This is just begging to be used as the soundtrack for some psychological horror movie

    A.... D....

i mean it basically is perfect blue, I'd recommend that.

  4. j.... H....

Whenever I hear this song I picture an insane stalker going after a DJ, catching him and proceeding to profess her love to him. The DJ refuses her love and she proceeds to kidnap and torture him and starts cutting off parts of his body while she continues to tell him how much she loves him and then he dies and she starts eating and fucking the corpse.

    j.... H....

I get that this is SWANS, but what the fuck man

  5. C.... ....

This song make me feel sick to my stomach, yet I can't stop listening to it.

  6. s.... h....

My first time hearing this song I thought I was listening to Xiu Xiu. Does anybody else hear the similarity?

  7. J.... G....

Am I even allowed to listen to such great music?

  8. W.... R....

    That description didn't age well

    W.... R....

    And thank god for that

  9. M.... R....

Esta es la canción que pondria si llegase a matar una persona.

  10. S.... g....

This song is like drug withdrawal

  11. T.... ....

    Cursed song.

  12. e.... ....

This is one of the most weirdest, twisted and disturbing songs I've ever heard

  13. J.... ....

Anyone else get Björk vibes? Debut era stuff, like Big Time Sensuality and Venus as a Boy

    J.... ....

More like Homogenic, this is kinda like Pluto

  14. B.... ....

I clearly remember the time when I began listening Soundtracks for the Blind. This song was the most frightening to me, I don't know why. It just sounded so wrong, so out of place that I often skipped it. Now it's my favorite song in the album along with Animus.

    B.... ....

Nice to see someone else out there that considers “Animus” a highlight. I really don’t feel like that one gets enough love.

  15. f.... h....

i was so surprised when i first heard this song,it made me love soundrtacks for the blind even more

    f.... h....

feroui hamza This is an underrated comment I feel you on that

  16. J.... M....

this song reminds me of Perfect Blue

    J.... M....

Fuck yeah, good reference. I agree

    J.... M....

Holy shit, that's a perfect comparison honestly.

  17. C.... ....

    Bjork would be proud

    C.... ....

    eliminator jr. no it didn’t

    C.... ....

maxwellwt it did though, Homogenic is from 97 and Soundtracks is from 96. Still doesn’t mean it couldn’t have been influenced by Björk.

    C.... ....

Darth Jar Jar I thought he wrote “after” instead of before. My bad

    C.... ....

Darth Jar Jar Actually nevermind, I wrote that as a joke

    C.... ....

@eliminator jr. but it came out after big time sensuality, if I'm not mistaken.

  18. I.... G....

Suena como algo que Bjork haria

    I.... G....

pensé lo mismo, pensé en debut

  19. l.... ....

Cuando escucho esta canción siempre me imagino a mi a las 3 de la mañana en un antro underground lleno de yonkis dormidos y solo yo despierto viendo el panorama, y pensando en el suicidio

  20. e.... b....

I want to taste your flesh and know god

  21. J.... ....

    This shit is scary

  22. G.... S....

This is probably the most unsettling song on the whole album. And that’s saying something

    G.... S....

mmmmm i don't know... at least you can kind of bob your head and dance along with this track. i think tracks like i love you this much, her mouth is filled with honey, and the beautiful days are a lot more unsettling.

    G.... S....

drifting to sleep to this is fucking terrifying

    G.... S....

I agree hard. It's so different from everything else that it REALLY stands out as discomforting. The production on everything but the drums sounds like it's much older than the rest of it, and the industrial sounds and glitches cause massive contrasts in so many directions. That's not even mentioning the soul-crushing lyrics.

  24. s.... ....

    what in the shit

  25. z.... ....

Soooooo - in 96 I was big into DEATH IN JUNE, not so much CURRENT 93 and I didn't understand the comparisons being made by other fans with SWANS.

I was familiar with their earlier stuff and passed on this and the great annihilator. Now I'm really sorry I did.

Amazing lps, and this is one of the most ungodly, bizarre and unsettling things I've ever heard.

Really unwholesome, and that's from a BRIGHTER DEATH NOW and WHITEHOUSE fan.
    Wow.

  26. D.... R....

This song would have been perfect for the end of Requiem for a Dream.

    D.... R....

    ass to ass

    D.... R....

Daniel Ressler I can see that

  27. M.... ....

Remember that time that swans had a drum&bass song half way through their postrock drone album?

    M.... ....

    which one

    M.... ....

    no, when?

  28. k.... c....

even swans made an edm track

    k.... c....

kennedi cotarelo wow I actually found you by chance lmao. Hi ken

  29. K.... G....

    This song is so freaky.

  30. d.... ....

This song actually gave me nightmares the first time listened to it.

  31. J.... G....

    This song scares me

  32. M.... B....

    This song is so unsettling

    M.... B....

Actually? It's kind of pleasant for me.

    M.... B....

It's just the atmosphere on the song, and the lyrics too. It makes me feel like i'm in Studio 54 or some shit about to overdose on cocaine. It just pulsating too.

    M.... B....

KingSpook great fucking music taste Spook

  33. T.... ....

WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS FUCKINGGNGNGNG SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITT FUCK ME

    T.... ....

    it's gay

  34. S.... M....

This is the most not Swans song by Swans

    S.... M....

+Stan Man so in a way it's the most swans song ever

    S.... M....

you havent heard their cover of love will tear us apart

    S.... M....

    Agree
The burning world it's anti swans somehow

  35. E.... ....

Works in great contrast to Yum Yab Killers, where Jarboe just goes berserk, but also within the context of the album. Genius!

  36. b.... ....

    god these lyrics
    what the hell

    b.... ....

    I agree

    b.... ....

    Aren't they great?

    b.... ....

Really fucked up and make a compelling point, as pretentious as that sounds.

  37. M.... B....

Amazing medley of styles; some electronic influence obviously, but also kind of post-rocky.  Great song, great vocals from Jarboe.

  38. W.... ....

Guys! What style of music is volcano?

    W.... ....

sounds like a pop song from the nineties, but all syncopated and with strange, primal, spiritualish lyrics... i dunno, man. it's swans.

    W.... ....

Gosh i know whats going on in the song i just liked that reverse effect there i DONT CAAAAAAAre

    W.... ....

    Dance, IDM, Electronic

    W.... ....

    Industrial Pop
I just made up that genre but I want more

    W.... ....

*Technically*, the album falls under post-rock/art-rock. But this track in particular is a bit of an anomaly

  39. S.... N....

This song rocks my socks off

  40. E.... 7....

Shit when I got this album and got to this song I thought there was a mix up with the music

  41. a.... ....

It´s catchy in a wierd way and very thacky, in a good way. Varey good and interesting track though.

  42. M.... ....

Listen to 'A Hanging', from Holy Money. Dear *God.*

  43. m.... ....

This isn't the weakest song off Soundtracks

  44. k.... ....

this song is like some teen pop song corrupted by darkness and nightmares

    k.... ....

    shadow pop

  45. P.... a....

~I'd like to eat her breasts and grow hard~ <3

  46. V.... ....

I am positive this is by far the weirdest song I've ever heard. ;D

  47. L.... ....

~there's a starr in her eyez nd she knows it~ <3

  48. c.... ....

    Mellothumb is the weakest.

  49. l.... ....

This song makes me want to be a cannibalistic drag queen.

  50. m.... ....

if you're not a Jarboe fan then you're not a Swans fan.

    m.... ....

maosaytounge49 yeah most of the bullshit misdirected anger towards Jarboe comes from a misguided misogynistic place. Jarboe is as much a part of swans as anyone else and her contributions both vocally and stylistically to the band are undeniable. Her voice is incredible and she has an amazing range for vocals. Her solo stuff is absolutely incredible too. I'd love to meet her someday.

    m.... ....

DJ Nevling Absolutely agree. Plus, a lot of the sound collage stuff on soundtracks feature her work with field recordings. In short, this album owes a lot of its eerieness to Jarboe.

  51. t.... ....

Such an awesome song. It's like a demented parody of electronic pop music.

  52. f.... ....

I like listening to Clay Man, and then this song.

  53. m.... ....

screw the Jarboe detractors on here.. she was an indispensible part of the band.

  54. e.... p....

@Loudynoises you must go to private school

  55. c.... z....

I think it's great this crazy experimental thing ended on the album

  56. P.... ....

I...don't really like Jarboe. I always appreciated Gira's lead, as it gives them a sort of apocalyptic feel; more power to the music.

  57. p.... m....

    well cool

  58. k.... ....

    i'm not Jarboe's fan.

  59. u.... ....

@ErebosX try spending five minutes in Hollywood, then you'd get it (let alone 15 years in this shitty town)

  60. u.... ....

    the sacred and the profane!

  61. D.... S....

@ants4rocket definitely not the weakest song on that album.

  62. E.... ....

i think it's the weakest song on "soundtrack for the blind". it's hard for me to get in touch with it.

  63. A.... ....

Hahahaha good luck man. Let me know how that works out.

  64. L.... ....

You know what? I'm actually going to try to get them to play this at my school prom.

    L.... ....

    Loudynoises How did it go?

    L.... ....

    updates?

    L.... ....

@Soup Man It didn't happen, obviously
