Supremes, The - You're What's Missing In My Life Lyrics

Ooh, I thought my life was happy
(thought my life was happy)
I thought that I was fulfilled
Then you enriched my life (oh, what a change)
My whole new world was revealed
I never really lived (never really lived)
Till you show me how
You changed my whole life
My heart knows it now
That you're, you're what's missing in my life
(in my life, in my life)
Darling, you're, you're what's missing in my life
(in my life, in my life)

I had a hunger I never knew
Until we love and you fed it
Like the book with a missing page
Oh, I never knew it until you read it
I never really lived (never really lived)
Though I had good intentions
In just a few hours, you showed me new dimensions
You're, you're what's missing in my life
(in my life, in my life)
Tell the world that you're,
You're what's missing in my life
(in my life, in my life)

You're what's missing, You're what's missing
In my life, in my life
(sweet love, sweet love, sweet love, sweet love)

Ooh, I never really lived (never really lived)
Till you show me how
You changed my whole life
My heart knows it now
Whoo! You're , you're what's missing in my life
Tell the world, tell the world
You're, you're what's missing in my life
Every day in every way, darling
You're, you're what's missing in my life
Every day, every day
You're, you're what's missing in my life
Every day, every day, every day, every way
You're what's missing, baby, in my life
I want to talk about it, believe me

  4. d.... h....

  5. S.... W....

    @Vincent50 So right.

  6. V.... ....

I guess all the fighting with Berry and Motown caused Mary to make bad choices Pedro was making for the group. She needed some guidance and felt that maybe, just maybe Pedro can help out. NOT!!! Didn't she take note at how Florence allowed her hubby Tommy Chapman help destroy her career that never got off the ground. Though I loved all the groupings of the Supremes this grouping was full of fire and viction with Scherie and Susaye on board.

  7. C.... ....

@stawberry19919 Even though you asked this question three(3) yrs. ago, the answer is yes, Susaye was dubbed in this song. I believe she only did three of the album's songs;"High Energy"," I'm Gonna Let My Heart Do The Walkin' ", and this one.

  8. T.... ....

@AkuaRising Darling, Mary was wearing that tent as you call it because she was pregnant, really pregnant!!!!!!!! Hip-O-Select later this year should be coming out with a limited edition CD call "The Supremes This Is The Story The 70's albums Vol.2 The Scherrie Payne Years" Volume 1 is out is the Jean Terrell years, if is as good as this one it will be a great Christmas present!

  9. C.... ....

This is one of my favorite songs by the Supremes and the duet between Mary and Scherrie was just executed perfectly. Their voices just blended very well together.

  10. C.... ....

@stawberry19919 I believe she did. Susaye only had a chance to sing in at least three(3) songs and that's the title song;"High Energy", she was dubbed in "I'm Gonna Let My Heart Do The Walkin'" where she also did the HIGH ad-libs and even though this song was completed, I believe she was dubbed in this very last song on the album.

  11. S.... ....

I just noticed that Susaye Green & Keyshia Cole look VERY MUCH ALIKE! Especially at 1:37

  12. m.... o....

SHE LOOKS PREGNANT.. THAT IS MARY

  13. d.... h....

cant wait for the upcoming cd,LET YOURSELF GO due this fall with all the Scherrie payne /supremes lp. 2 cd set w/bonus tracks

  14. M.... ....

Susaye only added her vocals to "I'm Gonna Let My Heart Do The Walking" and "High Energy." Cindy was everything else, including those two songs

  15. M.... ....

It is Cindy. Cindy recorded all of the "High Energy" album. Susaye only added her voice to 2 songs

  16. C.... ....

That was the beauty of this song, especially, that Mary and Scherrie's voices blended so well that you couldn't tell where one singer begins and the other ends! Cindy and Susaye were also providing a full strong background of consistant unison and three part harmony. This was a well arranged song and still timeless to me.

  17. d.... ....

This is the best dance song on the MSS album. Luv this performance. Especially the kooky moves and facial expressions of Susaye Greene! Looking forward to Hip-O-Select releasing volume 2 of the "0's Supremes: the Scherrie Payne Years" But when?

  18. R.... v....

I think she was with child honey!!!

  19. r.... j....

Check out G.C. CAMERON version of this song..

  20. A.... ....

Great clip! What a shame Cindy wasn't still there though - it's her voice harmonising you hear as Susaye wasn't overdubbed onto this song.

  21. m.... ....

it still blows me away how seamlessly they blended their voices.

I first heard this song was 1992, when I was 16- I borrowed an old cassette copy from the library. I fell in love with this song, but couldn't figure out if Mary or Scherrie were singing lead...turns out they both were...

  22. J.... C....

    this song is beautiful!

  23. m.... ....

    my gosh
mary looks GIANT compared to the other two. she towers over them!
love how they cover her pregnancy

  24. b.... ....

Thank you for this great post. Bruce L.A. California

  25. M.... ....

Susaye is such a doll, she is so sweet, and Scherrie is wonderful, and Mary sounded alot better in the 70's her voice really got better

  26. s.... ....

Cindy is on THIS version! This IS the original recording! It was not redone! And she is clearly heard in the background! Especially "Sweee-eeeeet love..."

  27. S.... W....

Sadly, he took EVERYTHING over, he hired and fired, chose gigs (usually where there was a casino)...

  28. S.... W....

Totally agree. But it wasn't entirely her fault. Her then husband thought he was going to be the next Berry Gordy, took over as manager and the rest, as they say is history!

  29. H.... D....

I thought Scherrie had by far the best vocals of any Supreme singer, the High Energy album I though was fantastic. I miss that Cindy was not pitured even though she did sing on it, I always thought Cindy was the prettiest Supreme. Anyway AWESOME song.. and great rare clip THANKS for posting.

  30. J.... D....

Great video of this song. This should have been a hit single-one of the best they released in the 70's! They all look great on this video and I love how effortlessly Mary and Scherrie changed leads-they sound great trading off lead lines. Visually stunning and vocally refreshing!

  31. S.... W....

Oh of course - silly me. I had a "senior moment" when I wrote that comment...

  32. S.... W....

The High Energy Album was finished. I think all she did was "Let My Heart" because it was scheduled as the first single release. The rest was Cindy. You can ask her if you kept her email address.

  33. o.... ....

    Wow... Thanks for posting this!
