Supremes, The - My Heart Can't Take It No More Lyrics

Stop hurting me
Now don't you think you're overdoing it
I still care I must admit
I know that if we ever break up
I know you'll never make up
And I'm sorry, so sorry
But my heart can't take it no more

How the times you lied
You know how many times I cried
Lonely tears brought me misery
Maybe one day you realize
Just how I really tried
Darling to make you happy

I gave my heart
You only took it and destroyed it
And now you say it's me you love
Yet you cheated and deceived me
And now you say you want to keep me

And I'm sorry, so sorry
But my heart can't take it no more
My heart can't take it no more
My heart can't take it no more

    Very nice... Early Supremes

  2. h.... ....

Further proof of why Diane Ross should not have been the soloist of the Supremes.
Listen to Buttered Popcorn" and hear the real star. And, yes, this is my opinion.

    h.... ....

h8jf1 Florence was a great back ground singer just listen to her solo work after the supremes now you go sit down somewhere... she didn't have what it took to become Diana Ross ... Miss Ross became the great Diana Ross.. case closed !!!!

    h.... ....

i suppose the 12 #1 singles they had with her as the lead is ''proof'' of this too?

    h.... ....

You can't say just because of the songs they gave her tbat she wasn't a good solo artist we never got to hear the real solo artist she could have been. And just because they never sold records doesn't mean she wasn't good so many singers don't get hits when they first start sing like the Supremes they hadn't had a hit until where did our love go. And wasn't one of the songs that was a hit around Detroit buttered popcorn. Yes it was

Great song, but I wonder how it fared had it been sung by someone with a little more chops. No disrespect to Diana, but she had clearly not found her voice yet and it shows on this one.

I always loved this song as well as the half dozen or so that they recorded before Where Did Our Love Go. Never understood with it took them so long to really make it.

  5. K.... P....

This is one beautiful record...Love it

  6. J.... S....

This record never went anywhere. However, I always loved it. I also thought it was one of their best.

  7. J.... b....

Sounds like a steel guitar in the background

  8. K.... B....

Whoa...is that a pedal steel guitar for real? Knowing the broad abilities of the Funk Brothers, I am not surprised somebody there knew how to play! And did this ever get turned around by a C&W artist? Clarence Paul wrote a very convincing country tune.

    K.... B....

+King Bee yes it is a hill-billy steel guitar.

  9. D.... M....

Thanks.....I love this darn song so much!

They couldn't find "their sound" yet they had it in '61 with I WANT A GUY. Oh well.

@Choock5219  I swear I've never seen this album before. My RnB shop was sheltering me (probably a good thing)
