Supremes, The - Color My World Blue Lyrics

My love is blue without you
So color my world blue
I still thank the Lord above (for you baby)
Oo-ooh, yes I do

'Cause when you came into my life
You set everything right just to make me happy
(happy, baby)
You served me hand to foot
And did everything it took just to keep my happy
(happy, baby)
But I, like a fool, (fool)
Did you wrong (did you wrong)
Now it's hard for me to carry on

Without you, color my world blue
'Cause I'll never, never, never live without
Without you, color my world blue
'Cause I'll never, never, never live without
Without you

Can't live without you
So color my world blue
I still place no one above you
Even though you're gone (even though you're gone)
Gone, gone, gone

'Cause I remember the times I thought I was dying
No one can help me straighten out my life
You stood by my side with tears in your eyes
You told me day and night how much you loved me
I got on my feet, told you to leave
(please start walking)
And now I'm living in misery

Without you, color my world blue
'Cause I'll never, never, never live without
Without you, color my world blue
'Cause I'll never, never, never live without
[repeat 'til fade]

Supremes, The Color My World Blue Comments
  1. H.... S....

Miss Scherrie Payne reminds of Shirley Bassey...DYNAMIC; A TORCH SONG BALLADEER. Always appreciated her wonderful talent.

  2. M.... N....

Terrific recording, awesome vocals. Love the 70s Supremes

  3. e.... b....

The Supremes had great lead singers
Diana Ross. Jean Terrell and Scherrie Payne
But Susaye Greene was great too

  4. B.... ....

Best trio of Supremes after the original three - and the most beautiful, too.

  5. L.... J....

The last couple of albums by The Supremes were FLAWLESS, their time like most artist just eventually ran out. Motown and Barry Gordy should be ashamed of themselves for giving them such great music, only to under promote those projects. The Jean lead era albums were great as well.

  6. m.... ....

Superb track from their very ''under promoted'' album. Berry Gordy really shot himself in the foot with this one! It was a great L.P

  7. C.... ....

This song is reminiscent of the early Supremes'/early Motown days had Berry wanted to go in that direction for the Supremes at that time. If so, the song probably would've  gone to Florence Ballard for her soulful vocals. Scherrie's vocals on this song could've garnered her a solo career on Motown records in the mid 60's.

    C.... ....

I totally agree, Florence would have been superb on this track. Sherrie's vocals remind me of her at times.

Actually, I think Scherrie Payne is the most talented vocalist the Supremes had. (Yes, better than Diana and Jean).  Listen to her range on "Let My Heart Do the Walking". Now, don't get me wrong: I didn't say Jean and Diana didn't have beautiful voices - because they do! Scherrie just happen to come along at the wrong time, the disco era. Besides, Berry wanted a pop sound for the Supremes during the 60s and Scherrie would have been too "soulful" if you will.

    J.... A....

Wow I just made a similar comment on the "It's All Been Said Before" video about Scherrie Payne being the best vocalist ever in the Supremes. Then I went searching for more songs led by Scherrie and I saw your comment here, LOL. Yea, she is great.

    J.... A....

Don't apologize - you're right. If you consider pitch, range, and dynamism, Payne is the best singer ever in the Supremes. She deserved much more.

  9. J.... N....

Same here and Scherrie Payne was a great lead vocalist with The Supremes. I always though Mary, Scherrie and Cindy sounded great together.

@theSUPREMEscene - so was I and really enjoyed their music from start to finish. A lot of critics say this album was very disjointed but it was one of my favorites. How can you go wrong with Scherrie, Mary and Cindy?! Loved them.

  11. w.... ....

@theSUPREMEscene i was too. i did what berry said would happen. i bought the supremes in the 1970's and also bought diana ross. double the pleasure as they say.

  12. t.... ....

@wonderboyjoy i was with THE SUPREMES from beginning to end and i loved the journey!

  13. M.... M....

One of my favorites from this album . . . . I love lots of background vocals . . . and Cindy and Mary are excellent here . . . not to mention Scherrie's lead.

  14. w.... ....

i loved the final three albums of the supremes.
