Supremes, The - (He's) Seventeen Lyrics

Seventeen
I've got a guy that is seventeen
I don't care because I'm just sixteen
And my guy is seventeen
He's only seventeen

He loves me
And we're as happy as two can be
We have pledged our love eternally
And my guy is seventeen

I don't know what it is
That makes me love him so
I don't know if I shall ever let him go, go, go
Don't you know, know, know

He's seventeen
I've got a guy that is seventeen
I don't care because I'm just sixteen
And my guy is seventeen
He's only seventeen

Guess what girls
My guy is seventeen
Seventeen?
Yeah, guess what else girls
I'm just sixteen
Sixteen?
So come on

Don't you know, you know he's seventeen
I've got a guy that is seventeen
I don't care because I'm just sixteen
And my guy is seventeen
He's only seventeen

He's seventeen
Seventeen
Seventeen
Seventeen
I'm sixteen
Sixteen
Sixteen
Sixteen
He's seventeen

Supremes, The (He's) Seventeen Comments
  1. q.... ....

i can see why the first few yrs of their existence they went nowhere . The songs were pure garbage sounding like B sides of shirelles or dixiecups . If they went more for the Arlene Smith or Aretha gospel sound they would have sounded a lot better during the lean years

  2. B.... C....

The lead does not sound like Diana Ross.

  3. S.... ....

Early early SUPREMES,, cute,, Mary & Florence's are wonderful.

  4. T.... ....

Lol........You gotta love Flo Ballard wearing the original 'hoodie" at 1:21 in the video!
    Ms Florence Ballard.......THE SUPER SUPREME!

  5. T.... ....

THE SUPREMES ( Florence Ballard, Mary Wilson, Barbara Martin & Diane Ross) with Barbara Martin at lead!
Isn't funny like Motown / Universal still today in 2016 don't give singing lead credits to any member of THE SUPREMES but Diane Ross?
The Diane Ross Show marches on!

    T.... ....

Diana is singing lead. It's pretty obvious. Barbara does the spoken part.

  6. B.... ....

These songs were not hits, because Ross' voice was annoying back then, unpolished, and the music didn't fit them. IT's 1950s doo-wop

  7. T.... S....

Didn't Barbara Martin sang lead on this single?

    T.... S....

Never forget Barbara Martin who acually sang lead on The Original Supremes song: " He's Seventeen" Confirmed by Mary Wilson!

    T.... S....

+THERMON STEPHENS III ......Absolutely, she has accredited both Betty McGlown & Barbara Martin!
Ms Mary Wilson as one of the original founding members of THE PRIMETTES / THE SUPREMES and the only one that was in the lineup of the group from creation to disbandment and has taken upon herself to document and preserve all the historical facts of the groups trajectory.
The information can be corroborated at "The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame and Museum" and on her New York Times Best Seller publication of DREAMGIRL, MY LIFE AS A SUPREME"!

    T.... S....

Diana is singing lead. Barbara has the spoken part in the middle. Mary has said Barbara sang the song in their live act.

    T.... S....

@THERMON STEPHENS III Diana is singing lead on this, Barbara does the spoken part.

    @yandrsupreme yes

This is really their only doo-wop track and a winner. It shows her innate stylistic brilliance as a sophomore i high school. Listening to this, I can see why Gody stuck with them. Bright man!
