They managed to take everything that MIA did with the original that made it so groundbreaking and brilliant, and throw it out the window. They turned into common hip hop drudgery, even if they are playing real instruments.

The original riff was sampled from a Clash song called Straight to Hell, that sample was used in an M.I.A song called Paper Planes, and this is a cover of that track. AR Rahman had nothing to do with this song, aside from appearing on the Slumdog Millionare soundrack alongisde M.I.A's track.

The guitarist is Carl Restivo and YES, he did help with the album. The Bassist is Dave Gibbs. They're also part of the "freedom fighter orchestra" when Tom does his Nightwatchman gigs. They've all been a part of SSSC since they toured for their first album.

@SPGameBroadcast SSSC's music might be in-your-face but the vocal delivery between Boots Riley vs Zach Dela Rocha is completely different. The rhythm section sounds nothing like Brad Wilk/Timmy C, and overall the two bands only sound similar because they have the same guitarist. SSSC's lyrics are just as political, but they are far more laid back. Boots doesnt scream like Zach does. However, Boots uses a clever sense of humor to get the point accross. Love 'em both but they dont sound the same.

@toxicbiscuitj28 Because Tom Morello is the only member of that band in this one. Entirely different group of people, making a somewhat familiar to RATM yet at the same time totally different vibe. RATM was in-your-face about their political issues while SSSC is more laid back and with a sense of humor.
