Strait, George - Milk Cow Blues Lyrics
Well I woke up this mornin', looked outdoors
I can tell my milk cow, I can tell by the way she lows
If you see my milk cow, please drive her on home
'Cause I ain't had no milk and butter since that cows been gone
Get out your little prayer book, get down upon your knees and pray
'Cause you're gonna need me, you're gonna need my help someday
Lord you're gonna be sorry, oh, you treated me this a way
Aw, now take it away boys
Sail on, sail on, sail on little gal, sail on, sail on, sail on, sail on little gal, sail on
You're gonna keep right on sailing till you lose your happy home
Well good evening, don't that sun look good going down
I said well good evening, don't that sun look good going down
Don't that ol' army cot look lonely when your lover ain't no place around
Well I tried everything baby to get along with you
Now I'm gonna tell you what I'm gonna do
I'm gonna stop my crying, gonna leave you alone
And if you don't think I'm leavin' big momma
Just count the days I'm gone
You ain't gonna see me, you ain't gonna see my sweet face no more
Lord you gonna be wondering honey where in this world I've gone

George can sing anything wish him an BB King could have done something together ain't nobody like George Strait
Yes! That would have been great.
Version by Doc Watson has this beat but this is pretty good
God love king George
Elvis, Willie Nelson and Bob Wills all did this song at different times, but George's version is the best
there's a reason Waylon sang about Tommy Duncan...
Who's George Strait? Willie was doing this song for years in concert but never released it on CD until 2000. Long live Willie, the others don't even come close.

Fucking awesome
speterbilt ... one of my top 10 Strait songs...maybe even top 5...
Actually, the George's version came out in early 1991, nine years before Willie Nelson did and released his own version in late 2000. George's version is still better than the original 1930 version and Willie Nelson's version.
Bob Wills?
Bob Wills version is the best ever. This is pretty close to being a direct copy-cat. Nothing original here but better recording technology.
Original by Kokomo Arnold
King George, another great tune he remade. I used to crank this up in the barracks, some of those guys never heard of George, too bad for them......
I want you to let me go it's like going to action and WAITEN for the pen to be let loose
If you don't think I'm leavin', Big Mama, just count the days I'm gone...
The king sings The King... probably my fav Bob Wills' song <3
I know it sounds sacrosanct, but move over Bob Wills.
Bite yore tongue!
My all time favorite song
very nice blues.
fabulous
whoa! love this version
I know it is a remake, but George's version is still best.
@David Brown I love George, but you clearly have not heard of the kid from Mississippi named Elvis.
Leon Rauch was the best. He was a big man with a big voice.
Yeah, because of instrumental solos, plus slower tempo than most. Still, my favorite version is by Ricky Nelson, with James Burton on guitar.
seriously my all time go to, to lift my mood and make me happy happy happy.
I have heard him do it live a few times, and it is better than this live.
now that is some damn country sung by the King!
yeehaw!
please sir drive her on home!!
