Stone Temple Pilots - First Kiss On Mars Lyrics

Take a risk and listen to the radio
Click your heels at the bi-polar disco
Fly down the villa destination sign
Everybody feels the days but waits for summer nights

Boy meets girl
They might drive in modern love

Can we really find
Love, the magic place we dream of
Super magic robots set the
Solar system free

Reel over, reel over and over
Reel over, reel over

Take a risk and listen to the radio
Click your heels at the bi-polar disco
Fly down the villa destination sign
Everybody feels the days but waits for summer nights

Boy meets girl
They might drive in modern love

Can we really find
Love, the magic place we dream of
Super magic robots set the
Solar system free

Reel over, reel over and over
Reel over, reel over and over

Reel over, reel over and over
Reel over, over and over again

One of their best! And possibly one of the best albums of this decade! My fiancé at the time(2010) was about to have twins and I had a stressful job .Id put this CD in the living room stereo on weekends and after a few beers I was feeling no pain. Kept playing it for the babies at a low volume when they got cranky, it worked wonders , so uplifting, also a great album to listen to while you take a road trip on a sunny day at the beach! Masterpiece, even the critics liked it.

    j.... m....

    joe myrick Totally agree

  33. J.... H....

Scott, I'm still in shock and it's been Eight months, since you passed. Like you, I too have demons that I struggle with, if not similar. However, your passing woke me up. Now, you are one of my Higher Powers which includes Layne and Kurt. Two other heavy influences on the music industry. We will always talk of you and listen to your songs. The music industry as you always known is Corparate Hell that enforces such heavy pressures, that can effect everything and anything personal in a musician's life. You never were a sell out. You couldn't fight The Great Fight. Also, because of your death, I am revisiting my creative side and musical talent and see where it goes. I'm in a music project with a couple of people...We have yet to find a drummer. I sing covers of your songs, (and write/sing my own grunge songs). Althewhile knowing, even if I have a similar vibratone, range,ect--as a female lead singer....Doesn't mean that anyone or myself can fit in your shoes. No one ever will. The surviving members of your band will fond another, but that person will NEVER be you.You were the reason why I couldn't watch MTV or VH1,(when they were somewhat awesome),from 7-11. Ironically you were the reason the ban was taken off by my late grandmother. Who told me my mother discovered Elvis in '57. I could watch the videos. I thank her to this day. You were underestimate or the underdog. You took a lot of shit. For that I commend you. You have inspired a lot of people. I use your passing as inspiration to once again kick my Coke and H habbit. Along side alcoholism. I know you are still with us in spirit. We all do. May you rest easy. Or ascend into the Heavens. In your case you'll go down that river. It will take you to a better place.
For fellow fans: We don't glorify. We mourn. We revisit experience with Grunge Era music. We wake up and get sober. We remember him for who he really was, his music and other things.
Go see what rent's like in Heaven and know where the river goes.

    J.... H....

    So well said....

  34. L.... O....

Everything is perfect here. Contained guitars, subtle and inventive drumming, and well, those simply magic lyrics.

  35. T.... ....

As we bid farewell to David Bowie today, I just couldn't get this song out of my head - yes it's STP, but Scott sings with so much Bowie like +MinasPraSempre pointed out. RIP to two of the greats that we lost so recently.

    T.... ....

When I first heard this song, whilst washing dishes and cranking up my Pandora STP radio station, I created, I seriously thought it was Bowie. Nope...Scott...Lol

  37. M.... S....

This is an amazing song from such an underestimated album! R.I.P Scott Weiland! (You can really see him channeling his idol, David Bowie, on this song).

    M.... S....

+MinasPraSempre A tribute to Bowie from Weiland when both were still alive...cruel irony.

    M.... S....

+MinasPraSempre I swear that the first time I heard this I thought David was guest singing on it. Nope, just a pretty good sound alike.

    M.... S....

+pete g You said it brother!

    M.... S....

dapster Oh come on! He just barely sounds like Bowie, barely

  38. B.... F....

    Scott was the best. :')

  39. G.... S....

  42. J.... W....

First Kiss In The Afterlife. Thank you Weiland for leaving great music for us and future generations to enjoy.
    RIP

    J.... W....

I play the music on Pandora and here, for my daughter and her friends. They love it. I sing the songs to them. My daughter loves to dance to the songs most appropriate to play around her. Because of this, they play 'Band'. Of course my daughter, has to be the lead singer, lol. They're not bad for Kindegateners.

  43. E.... o....

    420 Likes!!NICE! great tune too.

  44. J.... T....

Great song by one hell of a band.

  45. i.... ....

    This song is life

  46. y.... ....

one of my favorite stp songs

  47. S.... ....

    STP is America's Led Zeppelin

    S.... ....

    Don't be dumb now.

    S.... ....

@Bob Malon Yeah, don't be dumb... they're way better than Led Zeppelin.

    S.... ....

+Burley Snake haha good reply on overbloated zep fans (love them) but some people are just stuck mentally.

    S.... ....

SupernalOne SupernalOne They are the "Poor Man's Zeppelin"..lol Get it right man

    S.... ....

Twp different bands....... love em both! Definitely miss Scott & Bonham though!!

  48. L.... P....

I agree, but to be fair all of their albums sound almost completely different from each other. The only real exception is No. 4 which to me is like a mix between Core and Purple.

  49. C.... F....

    Chester who???

    C.... F....

    Charles Fisher chester is dead

  50. y.... ....

    i'm the optimistic one!...

  51. c.... ....

This song gives me chills and it aint the hangover!

  52. G.... ....

I was at a Much Music free S.T.P show when I heard Scott quote that. Don't know if he originated it . But it sure sounds right coming from him.

  53. S.... N....

I believe that Dean DeLeo was quoted as saying that. Scott Weiland talks about in it his book...

What a quote it is too!!!

  54. C.... M....

I wanna find the lovely magic place we dream of super magic robots in the solar system :D

  55. C.... M....

oh my god this is so beautiful

  56. n.... ....

    Sounds like David Bowie definitely

  57. N.... W....

This sounds like "pretty" meets "AC/DC"... I love it...\m/

  58. m.... m....

    Great Song!!!!

  59. f.... ....

I just heard this for the first time the other day and thought it was a new Bowie song! Good to clear the confusion.

  60. B.... M....

this song is great but it doesn't sound like the stp i used to enjoy so much

  61. K.... ....

    Bravo STP; Excellent as always.

  62. e.... ....

    adj love be

  63. T.... C....

Brilliant. Love Dean's tone on this song and Scott's hook.

  64. g.... r....

they should make a movie on David Bowie and cast the gr8 Scott W.as the starman,he would do a great job,:-)

  65. g.... ....

    Van Halen < STP

  66. M.... ....

@DieHardGardenFan ...That some good shit you're smokin' ;)

  67. D.... ....

    Best song on the record

  68. s.... ....

What the hell dont compare this album at all to grunge ... STP evolves so much and to this point so far away from grunge if it still was grunge then maybe I dont know

  69. d.... ....

@LanceHelmut As soon as Scott started singing I immediately thought of David Bowie...

  70. S.... M....

sounds a little like david bowie

  71. d.... ....

Best song I've heard recently from ANYBODY, can't stop playing this. To think I used to hate these guys!!!

  72. a.... w....

@XXtrckstarXX9 no he`s just so versatile

  73. D.... ....

This past summer, i was driving home with my fiance from camping. Played the whole cd for her. This was one of her favorite songs. Something about the mood that's created from music and creates a permanent impact/memory on the love you feel. Thanks STP for that moment.

  74. C.... N....

One of the best songs on the album. Great album too.

  75. n.... ....

@cometandcupids That's kinda the whole point of the song :-)

  76. S.... ....

@Bobbovich1969 For the record, I never heard this song AT ALL on the radio in 2010. Loved it, but never heard it. :)

  77. M.... ....

    simple great.

  78. T.... ....

    STP Changed..but they're still good.

  79. m.... ....

@thedeadlysphinxes This is hardly grunge, though.

  80. d.... ....

@noblesiner They were written off early in their career and it turned out that they outlasted all of their peers, even with the hiatus.

  81. n.... ....

Its bad when the best album of 2010 is by a band that if being honest prime is far long gone, and have just come back after a 9 year hiatus, but that is exactly what this is. STP some how turned out a very credible album without sacrificing their original sound to much, and seeming somewhat relative in the process. This thing beats out any new rock act going today.

    n.... ....

Only a group of geniuses could produce something this good. They continue to stretch the universe of sound. But you are absolutely right.

  82. D.... H....

I wish there was a live version of this song. I guess they've yet to play it live anywhere?

  83. b.... ....

click your heels at the bi-winning disco

  84. b.... ....

@YOUCTOO THE LYRIC IS ... " DATE NIGHT DRIVE IN MODERN LOVE"

  85. D.... M....

Yes it is, we can hear the David Bowie influences in Scott first vocal parts

  86. p.... ....

What song by David Bowie do you really consider this a ripoff of?

  87. p.... j....

the line is date night, drive in, modern love

  88. G.... ....

@loveisthelaw20042004 Well, you can definitely consider it a ripoff of Bowie if you like, but it's a pretty fucking damn good one. I personally don't see it as a ripoff. I see scott bring the style back to the mid to late 80's and even early 90's. It's the style of music, remember that. One thing people forget is how well the music industry peaked in the 80's and throughout the 90's. Right now they have ignored all that good stuff and focus on pop artist now.

  89. J.... S....

    @Bobbovich1969 , I totally agree man..

  90. G.... ....

@brainfoodjunky could be, I mean even the title is something David Bowie would use. LOL

  91. b.... ....

trust me guys...while I'm listening this song...I swear to God, it just gave me shivers, and even though it reminded me on Bowie, I still thank God that there is still my music around and alive...(you know what I mean by ''my music'')...90s, alternative grunge, so passionatte and strong with lyrics...fuck I might as well cry as a pussy now ;)

  92. C.... ....

Best Tip-of-The-Hat to Bowie I've heard in a long, long while. Funny how Scott was also tipping his hat to another former junkie - Lou Reed - on 'Hickory Dichotomy', oh, of course ... Scott's immense talent aside, no wonder he's so good at it.

  93. T.... R....

best song on the album i must say

  94. A.... M....

@MikeDiamond69 y'all are absolutely right! Nickelback is so f*cking bad! What's up with those guys??! they've gotta know that they're not fooling anyone over 22...

  95. A.... M....

i gotta say it, didn't think I would. GREAT bOwIe reference in the voice here for scott. Way 2 go!

  96. A.... M....

    mars attacks again...
    Scott Bowie rocks!!!

  97. W.... ....

Sometimes Scott almost out-Bowies Bowie! Check out the Bowie song title references in this song, from the title itself (a nod to big Dave's "Life on Mars") to "Modern Love" and (obliquely) "Drive-in Saturday". Scott Bowie, David Weiland.

  98. o.... ....

i like the track, but can see myself getting boared of it very quick. Very dated style of writing.

  99. T.... R....

one. beautiful. song.you gotta love this
