Stewart, Rod - Ooh La La Lyrics
Poor old Granddad I laughed at all his words
I thought he was a bitter man
He spoke of women's ways
They'll trap you, then they use you before you even know
For love is blind and you're far too kind
I wish that I knew what I know now
When I was younger.
I wish that I knew what I know now
When I was stronger.
The can-can such a pretty show
Will steal your heart away
But backstage back on earth again
The dressing rooms are grey
For they make you feel a man
But love is blind and you soon will find
You're just a boy again
When you want her lips, you get her cheek
Makes you wonder where you are
If you want some more then she's fast asleep
you're just twinkling with the stars.
Poor young grandson, there's nothing I can say
You'll have to learn, just like me
And that's the hardest way, ooh la la
Ooh la la, la la, yeah
I wish that I knew what I know now
When I was younger.
I wish that I knew what I know now
When I was stronger.

Stewart, Rod Ooh La La Comments
This sort of reminds me of the video for Chelsea Dagger by The Fratellis.
Looking at it closer I think it even has some of the same girls.
Solid song.
Gimme Faces Version ..
Sweet hand flip at 3:56 (final recorder note). Guggn hilarious!
Love this song ❤❤🇸🇪
Celtic.
I’m guessing 1998 is looking almost as good to Rod as 1973 did. Ooh La La.
Chef Ramsay is that u?
Song was written by the bass player for The Faces, Ronnie Lane. RIP...The Faces recorded the song first..
You know how every 80s/90s/00s(whatever age you were when you were a teen and/or in your early 20s) song that you look up on YT and go down a nostalgia trip? This song is the soundtrack to that trip.
These are some of THE MOST BEATIFUL WOMEN IN THEORY WORLD!!! GREAT SONG AS WELL!!!
I'm glad Rod redid this song. Love the new arrangement. The girls help too.
I'll bet you didn't know it's Ronnie Wood singing the original song. Just figured that out myself.
Concur 100%, best rendition right here. Love the flute, recorder and violin accompaniment. Would be great to see live recording to see where/when all the instruments are used. That's true with every song. Show us the live recording that pans out to see all the instruments. Many times they show the recording but flip to so many cameras, renders video useless. Beautiful sounds here!

Awesome.
Cringeworthy. Acting like those girls aren’t all over him because he paid them, stupid old has-been. Cheap and nasty. Ugh.
Viejo verde! XD
Sad you didn't use the original intro,( but its nearly impossible to play) your mate Ronnie Wood wrote it and could have showed you how, he also sang the original song,(Faces, OH LA LA Album) I have it ! but Ronnie's voice has left him, (after years of smoking) but I love the way this has been done.
Король! Женских сердец!!!

@Lucky Voigt what you are saying, i can't understand? Please elaborate.. In accordance with my comment. Isn't it irrelevant??
Музыка в машину солнечная и позитивная:-):-):-):-):-):-):-)
This guy's married to a supermodel and (apparently) never ages.
Some guys have all the luck.
I see what you did there. ;) lol
Nice one. Thinking the money and the super models extend his youth.
He (Rod) sings it in E Flatt. Original is in D....Ronnie is superior on the original. And Rod just tried cashing in (as usual).
Rod correct mistakes from the past by not singing it in the first place song lyrics seem right for rod Stewart in the literal sense on this occasion.
i was a grown man in 98 born in 76 lol
What is a grown man. The Hamburgular.
lol my idol rod stewart awesome song from the late 90s
Great song😉😉
I love this song "ooo, LA, LA" rod sewert brings back memories when I was young....
bar bar
you must be drunk and got no money
In 1973 faces did it better. It was written by Ronnie Lane and Ronnie Wood. Rod Stewart seem disinterested in the song did his best to derail it
Chorus line dropped on the street by anon. verbatim et literatim, circa 1965.
How absolutely correct you are, Ronnie wood sang the original, A better intro too, (Also played by Ronnie) But its typical Rod to steal someone else's glory.
@TheJmccready Ah so. No one claiming they wrote it, actually did write it. It's not an easy lyric to construct grammatically, so it's not going to roll trippingly off the tongue, without a push...
this song is originally from the 1973 faces album Ooh La La
Jammy bastard's 75, what a life he's had and still looking great.
Sir Rod and family happy Xmas don't laugh fancy ya backing singer I'm Duston Northampton any chance Costa ha!
All those almost naked women and manly sunglasses inside. Its almost like Rods trying to hide something under those frosted tips
Rod Stewart.... One of the best
Is that Linda Evangalista as one of the can can gals?
🎼🎧🎼
Not as good as the faces
Look Mister stop making faces
This was one of Rod Stewart's better cover songs
I love this song it brings back memories when I was a kid I love Rod Stewart.
I Surely Wish I Knew🤔
I FINALLY FOUND THIS SONG AFTER 19 YEARS........
They say youth is wasted on the young, but the truth is, wisdom is wasted on the old.
A ROD STEWART "CLASSIC"!!!👏👍👍
It wasn't a Rod Stewart "Classic". It was written by Ronnie Lane and Ronnie Wood. It was sung by Ronnie Wood.
+Neil Ouellette Ok, this a Song that Rod Stewart Sung, So therefore it's a Classic to ME!!!
Ooh La La Yeah
Thanks and r.i.p. Ronnie Lane
I Will try to explain It in english becauase my english is very poor. Every saturday And Sunday the most important show station radio in Spain ends the program with this song. I think it is a little homenage to one of the BEST Singers un the history. Greetings from Spain
Your English is excellent, much better than my Spanish.
Es genial e hizo muchas grandes canciones en vivo la vida y ser amigo feliz. 😀
I love, love, love this song. One of my all time favorites. God bless you Ronnie Lane for writing this gem.
That's so dope, rod Stewart in we trust.
Took me FOREVER to relocate this song after listening to it often on the radio in my childhood years. I knew of Rod Stewart through the song "Young Turks", but I love this song more!!
I prefer the older videos with the sluttier girls doing whatever it took to get on camera, God bless the 70s ...
Good song, terrible video. Seriously, an old man surrounded by a dozen sexy girls. They couldn't come up with anythjng more original?
Louder with Crowder brought me here 😂
Louder With Crowder got me here; awesome song!

He's not wearing any socks!
Where did it all go wrong Rod hehehe ..........wonderful track
She's my Rushmore
Song is still AMAZING!
Early Mgtow song.
Wasnt this song written played and sung by Ronnie (s)?
Co-written by Wood and Lane, original album version is sung by Ron Wood after Lane and Stewart versions were each rejected by themselves.
good shit
I don't care what people say he has the best voice I have ever heard, I taken a lot of criticism since I found him because I'm only 15 and a boy my age to like such someone like him means that I get the mic taken out of me. I know you probably you won't read mr Stewart but on the off chance that you do, thank you your songs have got me through a lot your a one of kind person. A diamond among men as some might say. So just thank you!!
In the exact same position, same age and all, feel like i was born in the wrong generation! All the singers i like are dead ( George Michael , David Bowie, prince, Freddie mercury, ect) except rod! Got to hang on to it i guess
You too Georgia! Stick to the good music that you and Will have fallen in love with! You can enjoy all of the older artists while you try to sort out any potential new and upcoming artist.
He does indeed have one of the best voices. I just saw him live for the first time last month in K.C. Wow what a performance. I agree stick to your guns. Some of the best music was from the 70's and 80's.
Good for you, Will! Don't care what people say about Rod Stewart's voice! I was your age once...a long, long time ago! I like Rod Stewart's voice too. He is one of my favourite singers! I am so glad I am not 15 anymore! Will, it gets better. It gets way better! Life is good! LOL. Never stop being outspoken, Will, I like you...whoever and wherever you are.
Will .......never ever feel bad for having GREAT taste ,good music is good music . Nothing makes me feel better then good music and this is some of it . I want you to listen to Zeplin and The Stones , The Cure , Journey EVERYTHING including Boy George and Culture Club there will never be anything like the music of that time enjoy it 9h and please take time to listen to Lynard Skinards Simple man you'll enjoy it . I wish you the best life with the best music
2017 Still liking this classic Rod.
Ronnie Lane, Ronnie Wood, Ian and Kenny Jones brought me here...
Ronald Brown Lives in Kissimmee. He said he does not know him. just WORLD BE FREE
Why haven't I discovered this earlier?! I'm sooo lame. Rod is the best!
The chorus "I WISH THAT I KNEW WHAT I KNOW NOW WHEN I WAS YOUNGER" says it all ...........
Purely awesome
Too bad time machines don't exist!
Tim Timebomb didnt bring me here, he brought me BACK here. Cheers for that, brother!
the video is completely different from the song. it looks like Rod is not regretting a single bit of being a philanderer.. hes revelling in it!
I really wish I could see some of the awesome scenes from the movie " Without a Paddle" with this song... It would be so perfect. <3
Thank you so much for posting. Lots of Love <3
lets do ooh la la....
He's still a poser! /Ingrid in Sweden
Great song ..a classic ; Keep working Rod ...because none of your spoiled daughters and kids you have will ..you have a lot of bums around you to feed ! don't quit your day time job singing .
Sorry, I took the words to this song so different than the video. In Fact just the opposite. Are we that blind?
Do possums come out at nighttime. Are you for Real
The blacklist brought me here .. Elizabeth keen death
One of Rod's better songs, yet underrated in the United States, only reaching #39 in the summer of 1998. Did you know the Corrs provided instrumentation on this song?
written by ronnie lane when he was with rod in " the faces "
Written by Ronnie Lane and Ronnie Wood of the Faces in 1973. Of course Ronnie on vocals as Rod Stewart wasn't on the Faces last album. From their last studio album titled Ooh La La.
@Neil Ouellette No that's not Rod on vocals Ronnie Wood sang it on the Faces final album.
@dsfddsgh Yeah, I know I fucked that one up when you pointed it out. I did mean to put Ronnie down instead of Rod. In fact Rod wasn't even on the Faces last album. Going to edit. Thanks @dsfddsgh
Ahhhh the faces.
Rushmore brought me here...
Great tune and insight. I associate it with a place we were "camping" at in a Lance pick-up bed Camper in Banff, Canada, where I heard it one morning ~1999. But with nowhere else. Funny how that happens sometimes.
i love this song!!!
Love to you Brits from here in Canada! haha this guy is a geat soul.
Dedicated to Starr Reid...
That line in this song "I wish that I knew what I know now when I was younger"! That sure applies to all of our lives in certain situations and etc.
you all got it twisted. i wish i didn't know now what i didn't know then. i would be a better happier person
+Kilgore Trout True!👍
You got that right
Line dropped on the street by anon. verbatim et literatim, circa 1965.
Without A Paddle brought me here.. haha thank youu
Do you play Ping Pong
Just a Superb Ronnie Lane Ron wood Composition and this Lip Sync done back in 70s I believe but My Favorite Rendition. Same Era Ronnie Lane sings "Debris" and Early Rod Stewart Sings Backing Vocals, That Faces Band was an original much in the J Geils Party Onstage Genre And I never Missed seeing them when I Could
One of Rod's few covers where he doesn't top the original
So Wrong!!!
@Martin Kelly wrong. Faces recorded 3 versions, with Stewart, Lane, and Woods each as lead. The producer simply thought that Woods did it best.
@Judith Smith What is wrong with that? He missed the first two weeks of recording sessions for the Ooh La La album entirely which tells you all you need to know what his attitude to the Faces was then. In interviews with NME and Melody Maker respectively after the album was released he called it "a stinking, rotten album" and "a bloody mess" Stewart's attitude to the band and his band mates was one of the reasons Ronnie Lane quit after it's release.
Yeah this isn’t a cover if it’s rod stewart since he was a member of faces and he was part of the original version
@Jessie Farmer Its a remix
Love that he refused to record this song back in the day so Ronnie sang it and it became a hit
like the song after all
Notes I read were he sang it but didn't like his version. Ronnie sang it and didn't like his, so Glyn Johns had Ron sing it.
