Stewart, Rod - Don't Come Around Here Lyrics
How do you know when it's over
How do you know where did it all go wrong
Can I embrace the perfect stranger
How do you know and where did it all go wrong
I lost the only one
Could you tell
Stoke the funeral
So now it's just me, myself and I
Don't come around here (don't come around here)
Just to see me cryin' (see me cryin')
Don't come around here (don't come around here)
Just because you can (because you can, yeah, yeah)
How do you find tinsel Motown
How do you find it if it's the only one
Dear, love is strange the right emotion
How do you find if it's the only one
Cause lately (lately) could you tell (could you tell)
I lost the only one
Could you tell (could you tell, could you tell)
Stoke the funeral
So now it's just me, myself and I
Don't come around here (don't come around here)
Just to see me cryin' (see me cryin')
Don't come around here (don't come around here)
Just because you can (because you can, yeah, yeah)
Give me Motown (tinsel Motown, lady)
Tinsel Motown (one emotion maybe)
One emotion (with a perfect stranger)
Tinsel Motown (me, myself and I)
Don't come around here
Just to see me cryin'
Don't come around here
Just because you can
Don't come around here (don't come around here)
Just to see me cryin' (see me cryin')
Please don't come around here (don't come around here)
Just because you can (because you can, yeah, yeah)
Cause you can
Don't come around here (don't come around here)
Just to see me cryin' (see me cryin')
Please don't watch me cryin'
Please don't watch me cryin', yeah
Cause you can
Don't come around here
Please don't come around here
Just to see me cryin':

Stewart, Rod Don't Come Around Here Comments
I spent good money on this album and I guess I didn't give it much of a chance. I have spent this entire time hating the album and frustrated that he didn't write his own material anymore. For a little context, when this came out, rod was coming off a string of compilations, the unplugged album, and greatest hits including a boxed set and then this and it was all just before the great american songbook projects started. So i was really pissed because i remembered rod as a proper songwriter who seemed to be losing his way. I joked semi seriously that if I could have done it I would have locked him in a closet with a piss bucket, a loaf of bread, and a guitar and notebook only to be let out if he could somehow produce something from his heart again. Of course he had alwasys been able to cover a classic with great finesse but he had never relied so heavily on outside songwriters for his own material. And so when human came i thought it was just crap. Trying tooooooo hard to be an R and B album. The irony is he was already known to be as R and B as any of the soul singers from any period in time. He didnt need to collab with rappers and hiphop singers to help his credibility as a soul singer.
The reason human flopped in my opinion is that there wasn't enough rod in it. He wasn't being true to himself at all. It wash the same old rod, and he wasn't doing anything special enough to say he had reinvented himself for the 90s so who did human? Nobody we recognized. He had done the same sort of thing with do you think I'm sexy as a disco song, dabbling too much in the trend and losing his way and some of his audience. He should have known that he couldn't pull that stunt twice. Its only a miracle that most fans look back on sexy fondly...its so damn cheesy he got away with it.
I also need to say I don't just think rod only good in the 70s. In fact....I really loved spanner in the works and out of order. I always flew my flag proudly for him and it was my love for rod and knowing his potential that made me so disappointed in human.
All that said this song is nothing I remember but its pretty. Its very slick in its production maybe more than rod ever needed because my opinion anyway rod was best coming out of the faces as a scrappy rowdy diamond in the rough kind of guy. Also want to make sure ev knows how proud I am now. The last three albums are new and fresh original rod Stewart songs. Same old rod all grown up...which is how an artist should do.
Rod sings with a lot of different singers mixes up his music I wonder if Jeff Beck still performs with him every now and then haven't seen him in a while.
From one of his best albums
Please dont came aroun
weekend
Amo muito!
Dueto maravilhoso grande voz rod.
love that song
Rod Stewart's finest song of the 90s. His career had somewhat stagnated by this decade but this well delivered song and collaboration with Helicopter Girl proved that with the right song he could still create magic.
A perfect song for a broken heart.
great song
His best song ever, finally one I like
2 days blending beautifully
The only reason the album flopped was because cd pirateing had just began . I remember everybody at work ie 2 thousand plus workforce , most people loved this but got it on pirate copy. I wish someone could tell Rod this.
Linda não conhecia ?
very good combination like it a lot
I love this song. In fact I like the whole album.
always love this song
only bright spot on the entire cd.....
Helicopter girl sounds like a zombie
or Macey Gray :D
The Nintendo Fingers ..
I thought it was Macy Gray
Her voice is fantastic.
One of his best albums in my opinion. Totally different than anything else he's ever done, really love it!
I think the entire album is GREAT!!!!
i love rod´s music but i cant stan this albun
:O This is too good to be Rod Stewart but it IS. If more of his songs were like this people from my generation would like him.
Have you listened to all 40ish of his albums..... Try Smitten too, written FOR HIM, by Macy Gray!
How can you not like rods songs it's not like your going to marry him
One of his most underrated songs. Sophisticated, wonderful performance from them both
Scot duet ! Rod Stewart & Helicopter Girl made in 2001 ...Rod was right to do a song with her...she is precious ...she is musically hard to pigeonhole in a proper style...she break some boundaries at least in her records
Starry&Bohemia Ana Kepler Nas metropic1 Ana Leo
the track is exceptionally well produced and performed...the sound has an an atmospheric quality...Rod pitches the vocal to a high standard.
the video is easy to watch.
very melodic / sophisticated sound [rod is very chasimatic] I love his stories...
see pg 331 of Rod The Autobiography.....he says...'It had worst opening week for sales of any album' ---'as popular as a veruca plaster in a swimming pool'............so yes it was a flop
But I still think there were some great tracks including this one and Loveless.
never a flop in my eyes
a great album, can"t understand why it flopped
