Stevie Ray Vaughan - Crosscut Saw Lyrics
I'm a crosscut saw,
Baby, drag me across your log.
I'm a crosscut saw,
Baby, drag me across your log.
I cut your wood so easy for you,
Some call me Woodcutting Sam,
Some call me Woodcutting Jim.
The last girl I cut wood for,
She wants me back again.
I'm a crosscut saw,
Baby, drag me across your log.
I cut your wood so easy for you,
You can't help but say, "Hot Dog!"
I got a double-bladed axe
That really cuts good.
Well, I'm a crosscut saw,
Gonna bury me in your wood.
I'm a crosscut saw,
Baby, drag me across your log.
I cut your wood so easy for you,
You can't help but say, "Hot Dog!"

Great video
Those Albert King style double string bends sound amazing on the middle strat pickup😍
Anything that that slides out of Stevie Ray Vaughans lips is golden..and from his guitar cords and strings..sensational to the EARS..you with me? Performance is upward and beyond .
Smokin'
Stevie Ray is the guitar God period.
Stevie's double stops are just disgusting....so much life on that vibrato, my God, it's beautiful.
Raw as a motherf#$&er, really cool
Gonna drag you cross my lawn....
Texas FKN Blues
Its ok but not great too much distortion blues is more of a clean setting on your amp , Clapton does a better job.
Erik dont do shit better than Stevie
......O.O
SRV is the Guitar Gawd
John Atkins except put you to sleep.
The one and only.
SRV is a musical ability freak of nature. Only he can cover so many of the legends songs and not only do a good job, he actually adds an intensity to pretty much any iconic song he does. The guitarist in the devils band in hell may be Steve Vai, but Stevie Ray is the lead guitarist in God's band in heaven. He is like higher deity musician. When your playing makes Clapton pull over his car the first time he hears it because he can't believe what he hears and that someone is that fuckin good, and that he knew whoever it is was much better than him.... And people always referred to Clapton as "God", but yet thier god worships another... That really says something.
MR. DICKENS. #1 HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN ABOUT MR .ERIC CLAPTON. HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN ABOUT DERECK . TRUCKS ? STEVE VAI.. OH I FORGOT. JAMES MARSHALL HENDRIX! REAVLIUATE.

That time might be from that Flying V he owned
awesome tone to die for
I can't find it. No matter what I gear I buy or what frets or strings or switch position or how I hold my hands or pressure on my fingers - type of guitar next -- thickness -- nothing in this world will bring it back.
12 gauge, good luck:), i prefer 0:8-9. ultra light, tube lamp amp or something. switch position (fender type: up (right handed).
When I was a teenager I wanted to be like him so much that I put .13's on my Strat and literally bowed the neck! Got it fixed and after that just played .11's in standard tuning.
swee abn it’s not that hard to find just do what I do, take a super reverb put on eight find a really good Strat with a 59 style neck pick up a little bit reverb and bingo Bango you’re there
swee abn sounds like a silicon fuzz face or some solid state amp (maybe a backup?) about to blow up
2:19 soul just ooooozing out of that Strat. ;)
0:24 Cheers!! yeeeehaaaa
Misleading title holy fuck
@JustSomeGuyOk how lol?
+JustSomeGuyOk is not Misleading title idiot.
He was expecting a literal crosscut saw.
Damn!!!
Thanks man. Not much of this cover out there. no video I can find.
Thanks!
My Altecs are loving this
Check out John Hammond Jr;'s version, from the late 60s. Atlantic Records, I have the single!!!, somewhere. B side, Brown Eyed Hansome Man. Funkier, more "chunka, chunka".
I agree....all his covers were the best when you think of the ones he did..
gimme a hot dog and a side of cole-slaw
I think it's one of the best crosscut saw covers I've ever heard. I don't think Stevie woulda argued with you.
This is why the In Session Album happened!!
@JSCPYLON Just you personal opinion...isn't it?
Sorry.....Guys.....Albert's version is still the best to me. This version sounds crude and butcherd
We all hear things in different ways. When I hear Albert's version it sounds hollow, and like it was recorded in my friends basement. Stevie with all his fret beating and lazy strumming sounds full, and more like how a crosscut saw sounds. One cannot deny the licks Stevie took from Albert, but I think in the end Albert gave them eagerly. Cheers
I agree. Albert King's style of blues was so much more relaxed and just flowed out. This seems more pushed. Don't get me wrong, I like all the Blues players in their own right and different flavours but Stevie Ray and Gary Moore in particular have a style that is too much like showing off for my tastes. I'm trying to learn some Albert King style licks at the moment, it's not as easy as it looks.
i love stevie :] and i love this song, and i really love hearing stevie play this song :p
stevie rocks irish band achilles do a excellent version cross cut saw

ITS ALL BY ITS SELF!! BUT i love albert too!
He blows my mind. Love you always Stevie! Thank you for posting!
Wow--I had thought Albert's version was best--but Stevie takes it to a whole new level!
@ElmoLewiss where do I buy it please?
Stevie throwed it all with his guitar!! Is just too much...Play it Stevie!!! God SRV.
never heard this by Stevie before, I had the albert king cd with this on it. This is golden, thanks for putting it up
Hey guys, check out Antar Blue's lick of Crosscut......awesome.
Man, he was loud! Check this out: -9ePM0b5iJQ (video id) It's Evan Johns doing cross-cut saw. Raw and tasty.
Turn it way, way, waaaaay, up play the mutha like nobody's business.
yeah it's that classic Albert King lick. Albert did it so easily because his guitar had the treble e on top, meaning that when he fretted it, his finger would naturally rest on the b string too, so it'd be easy to bend them at the same time. Such a awesome sound though
is this stevie in the 70's?
Este tipo era bueno, pero cuando tocaba temas de otros, por lo general se los cargaba.
I agree buddy.I been to Joe,s generic bar in Austin,TX.Went there all because of Stevie.A guy by the name Mike James back here got his voodoo guitar power. They gave it to the wrong guy ,it's the same name but my lastname is Fetsko.I seen him break a sting and not miss a note.ALL TRUE!
I was operating a crosscut saw in a cabinet shop the day/minute/instant that I found out SRV died, sorrow and blues.
i love the part at like 2:04 when someone in the crowd whistles and its like right on pitch.
sweet lord thats the stuff, thanks man!!
