At the 2:40 minute mark he states "The amazing news of the Gospel is not that we can receive Jesus into our lives, but that he's already received us into his." When I first heard this statement, it didn't sit right with me. I did some research. He is quoting from William P Young's book "Lies we believe about God" see pages 117-118. William P Young is the man wrote the book "The Shack" for those who don't know who he is. In the second part of the quote on page 118 he states he believes in universal salvation and that everyone is saved. William P. Young is a proven heretic and false teacher. It looks like Ryan Stevenson is singing about the wrong Gospel. Acts 2:38 states Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let everyone of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall RECEIVE the gift of the Holy Spirit". and again in Acts 10:43 "To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will RECEIVE remission of sins. There is an action on our part to engage our will to repent and believe in Jesus and receive Him into our life. Then our sins are forgiven and we will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. That is the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. Discernment is to know the difference between what is true and what is almost true. Ryan's quote sounds almost true but it is not true.
