Steve Miller Band, The - Children Of The Future Lyrics
We are children of the future
Wonder where this world is going to, going to
We are children of the future
Wonder what in this world we are going to do, going to do
They can see for miles and miles
When I get high
I can see myself for miles
You know I've got something that you can use
It takes a little bit of lovin'
A little bit of huggin'
A little bit of lovin'
A little bit of huggin
And if you don't think that it's peace of mind

Steve Miller Band, The Children Of The Future Comments
Abracadabra for 17 thumbs down...
Sounds like the title from Brave new world.
It's still ORIGINAL Steve and isn't That what REALLY mater's..
Been there, summers of 67-87, Northside Chi-town.
Loved all the returning service folks.
Man, could they party!!!!
Brian.
"We are children of the future. Wonder where this world is going to, going to." Not a good place...... Your parents did a better job than you........
Great album!!!At the bottom it says The Future. This is one of those albums that you need to put in MP3 all in one track,as the songs run together-luckily i have an CD recorder.Even if you have it on CD,when you put it in your IPOD,it breaks up track by track.
The original album cover folded open and you could read (with difficulty, of course) "Children of the Future" across the bottom. The back had an edited version of the picture you see above on the front.

Who still has the orig LP. 😎
@Rich915 me me me . Vinyl doesn't break up the songs. vinyl is real.
His first albums from the 60s were his best! the last two comments before mine were right on! Also Pretorius 70 comment so true! I had every single album he made all stolen at a party so thank you so much for sharing Old memories for those of us over 70 now! So many positive space songs like brave new world ! Check out also early traffic their first albums from the 60s
At least the thieves knew good music.
And then the gods of music said, “Let there be Miller!”
It is NOT Norton Buffalo on harp it is Steve Miller. Norton told me this himself a few years ago. Norton played with Miller for years but Steve Miller did the harp on all the early albums.
Norton joined the band in 76 and played on two tracks on book of dreams in 77. He put together his own band in late 77 and put out that fine album "Loving in the valley of the moon". I played with his sister Jo in high school jazz band....we were all over that record...
I guess you probably knew all that already...sorry didn't read your post right the first time and oh and yes he did tour and record with Miller's band for something like 30 years.
that would be Norton Buffalo on harp
It is NOT Norton Buffalo on harp it is Steve Miller. Norton told me this himself a few years ago.
definitely not Gordon Buffalo as the previous person stated
Norton didn't appear on any Steve Miller recordings, until '77... 9 years after this album.
One of the greatest albums to come out of the late sixties!!! Amazing and prophetic in a grounded psychedelic way few can comprehend or fathom!! ~~~ ∞ ~~~
So true, thank you
goldeneaglevideo 😂 😆 😝
ABSOLUTELY !!!
I hear that!
I loved this album, lost it ina move. But this song stuck with me, let me tell you!
Glad to hear this -- got the album in 1970 & lost it at college in '73.
My travels were never complete till I put on Children of the Future and even today, 40 years later, it brings a tiny flash back to moments when only now mattered. Many a journey shared with Steve in the lead.
David Anderson Great comment. Were you at Spahn Ranch in '69?
very dead like , a little space jam ,
This was the quintessential San Francisco 60's sound - along with Airplane's Surrealistic Pillow and Moby Grape's first album. This makes me think of the times we cut school and hitchhiked to Pescadero, misbehaving all the way.
many SF bands, hate naming names but here's a few: qms, santana blues band, sons of champlin, big brother&the holding co.geez i could on and on and........
dominator.....thanks for all these steve miller flashbacks on new years day....nice collection of memeories
@pretorious700 Amen brother!!
Back before Steve went commercial he had some great albums. This and Sailor are my favorites.
So true, thank you, yet sad that most people don't even know his early stuff from the 60s which were his very best
EXACTLY !! I like some of his commercial stuff too, but it's not THIS !
I was in a band in 1968 and one day the lead guitarist (and my good friend) walked in with this album and "Sailor" under his arm. A very good day !
yeah always thought this was his greatest album..had some really nice vibes.
