John Kay sings on just six songs out of 10 on this album.  Jerry Edmonton sings two songs, George Biondo one, and one song is instrumental.

My favorite band of all times. So underrated and overlooked. I bought this album when it came out and played it over and over. Just turned 59 and still love listening to Steppenwolf.
Had the opportunity to see John Kay & Steppenwolf live in Atlantic City NJ a few years ago and it was one of the best rock concerts I ever went to. Rock on John Kay - You are my music hero.

This is my favorite Steppenwolf tune with Renegade running a close second. Both a very emotional and well written.

You have to smell this. It smells like unleaded gas in an old kick start ironhead sportster. Smells like the ohio river when you are riding across the 2nd bridge on a rigid chopper.

Man, what a great song !!!!!!  ...  Classic rock stations should be ashamed of themselves,  ignoring so many of these 'hidden' gems.  Thank you, El Groover.   :)

I hate commercial radio. It's the same crap over and over and over. I've never heard this classic song play on the radio and it should be.

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet the lp is good, for me this the best cut , the guitar is bad ass , a sad song that rocks Kay is such a talented song writer thanks John for the music.

This only makes me wish we were all back in these days when things were AWESOME, could leave your house unlocked and leave the keys in the car. Now look at today-not better at all..........

No one left their doors unlocked, I'm sick and tired of that phrase. Hell you had theives and murderers back in the 60's and 70's,what with all of the drug addicts and killers back then. Tell that to Charles Manson's victims that you could leave your doors unlocked.

Dianne Miller Jerry seemed to be a cool guy. I had a dream about him where he advised me about a song to use on a soundtrack for a movie script. Why that particular song, and why he would bother reaching out to me from the beyond, I'll never know.

We never met nor communicated, nor did he even know me when he was alive. No readon why he would know me, I was and am nobody. Nor did I try to contact his spirit seeking his advice.

But assuming it really was him, I'm taking his advice. Who knows, it might bring me luck on my project, which is right now mainly a novel. I'm just thinking ahead to the movie stage lol

Really? I always thought his song "Ride With Me" was a masterpiece, his magnum opus really, and had the potential to restore Steppenwolf's career at a time when they were spiralling to the end.

Unfortunately, John Kay (I assume it was Kay because he always controlled the band with an iron fist) destroyed the song, chopping it up into a shell of it's original greatness.

As it was, it was still the best song on an otherwise very mediocre at best album. But it could have been so, so, so much more.

@Second Coming Of Bast It should've been a big hit for them but it was released at a time when music was starting to lean more towards softer rock; had it been released a year or more earlier it would've been a hit but I think it is a fantastic song nonetheless.

To newworldordersmasher ~ It's a sad story, as these things usually are, when folks are acting on the advice of lawyers instead of doing what they know to be right and fair. I think it's frakking crass that such a conflict should arise from a band that has shown such nous through their music.
