Stephen Stills - Both Of Us (Bound To Lose) Lyrics

Why can't you hear me
Why can't you see me
How can you be so blind to this feelin' in my heart

Time is a'waistin'
What have I tasted
Can you turn a deaf ear to my call
Both of us bound to lose
Why do we have to choose
Both of us bound to lose

Now can you hear me
Now can you see me
How do you like the fool when he's down

Is that really how you see me
Just a statue making sounds
The Fallen Eagle
Sing to the fallen eagle

Helicopters fly
Chase him 'round the mountains
Chase him 'til he dies
They say that it's good sportin'
Shootin' him on the wing
Above the roar and clatter
You can hear your rifle sing

His death song
It won't be long
Sing to the western rancher
The eagle takes his lamb
He's got a thousand others
He don't give a damn

Get up with the sunrise
Everybody gather 'round
Kill him with the first shot
He'll turn and bring you down
Down down
Crash on the ground

Sing to the noble eagle
Help is on the way
A government team of experts
Is a'rushin' to your aid
I know your not excited
An eagle is no waif
Fly on up to Canada
This country isn't safe
Anymore
That's for sure

Why can't you hear me? Why can't you see me?
How can you be so blind to this feelin' in my heart?
Time is a waistin', what have I tasted?
Can you turn a deaf ear to my call

Both of us bound to lose

Why do we have to choose?
Both of us bound to lose

Now can you hear me? Now can you see me?
How do you like the fool when he's down?
Is that really how you see me
    Just a statue making sounds?

This album just keeps on giving...

  3. K.... ....

Hillman / Stills - great combination.  Love this song.

I think this was the 1st album I bought after I went away to college (Might have been Rod's "Never A Dull Moment.")
I had my parent's credit cards so it wasn't like I was spending 'real money.' I bought it at a Sears store near the University; brought it back to the dorm, rolled up a fat bone on the album jacket (it was a double-album, perfect for bone-rolling and seed-catching) and....AWAY I WENT!!
P.S.- A great album, stoned or otherwise.

So much great music on this album. Stills and Hillman were good together.

Actually, this would have been better as a CSN song or CSNY song. Crosby's vocals would have worked with Stills much more effectively on this one. And the part at 1:53 is no good. It destroys an already good melody. The guitar at 2:11 should just come in immediately at 1:52. Replace the percussion with better, like the vibraphone. Ending is good.

@ Eric Shoemaker....All I can say regarding your harsh, know-it-all criticism is that these are world-class, accomplished, famous musicians you are talking about. You are just someone commenting on YouTube. Opinions are fine, acting as though you know better is another thing.

@Most Peculiar Mama, Whoa!! Agreed 100%

    E.... S....

    P.S.- David Crosby (that thin-lipped, sperm-donating-to-lesbians, no-talent, egomaniac) sucks....

And I'll bet you consider yourself a great couch quarterback - knowing more than all the football players that ever lived.  Eith an ego like that, I'll bet you wear a hat sized 100.  What an egotistical, know it all PR*CK

And in comparison to Manassas, how much money have you made writing and performing music?
