Status Quo - Lonely Man Lyrics

Lonely man upon the shore
What on earth are you looking for?
You're protection is quite clear
And you're never really near
Will you ever find what you are looking for?

Seeing others on the shelf
Only thinking of yourself
Will you ever start to learn?
Will your pockets ever burn?
Will you ever find what you are looking for?

Look at the sky, why do you cry?
What do you see? Your misery

Look at the sky, why do you cry?
What do you see? Your misery

Lonely man, you're on your own
Find someone to take you home
A friend is what you need
Would you mind if it was me?
Maybe then you'll find what you are looking for.

Will you ever find what you are looking for?

Aweaome Tune, Instrumental and Voice, everything is perfectly done.

The best Quo song of all. What a pity we don't have a video of them playing this live. The way this builds up from acoustic to full-blown rock is just incredible.

  3. F.... V....

    SUBLIME!

  4. t.... ....

how do you go from this sublime sincere soulful classic with great arrangements and dynamics plus awesome playing, to the twee, uninspired. insipid , sound of rossi and his current employees.

  5. A.... ....

  6. H.... H....

    A matrpiece from Quo.

What a song. What an album. What a band. The Frantic Four had no match. Best line up ever. You will never see or hear a better rock band then QUO in its prime with the Hello , Quo, Live, On the Level and Blue For You albums. Thanks guys.

    Brilliant Band

Quo: the band that produced little known rock gems like this, and then went on to make throw away pop songs like "Burning Bridges" - an absolute Jekyll and Hyde band for me.

    P.... H....

they lost the balls of the band well before burning bridges, Nuff and Spud are great on this track

    P.... H....

Cocaine made Rossi paranoid, lost his mind and friendship with Alan. Spud was sick of touring so much and took to alcohol. Rossi became the anti Quoist { Lancaster quote}. They were totally brilliant as the FF. Saw them reunited at Manchester Apollo 2014. Older and Nuff less nimble but the original sound as if never apart. FF for ever, RIP Rick, rock on mate in heaven.

Angio Proceed Do people really believe that's what happened? I mean, I wasn't there either but even Rick admitted on multiple occasions that Coghlan and Lancaster's behaviour was what ruined the FF. Both Rick and Francis had problems controlling Lancaster's bad behaviour even on the reunion tours from what I've heard (he was definitely abusive as hell to the staff on the tours). Every account, including sometimes Lancaster's own, seems to agree that he has always had massive behavioural issues.

No band could continue indefinitely under those circumstances. And I certainly don't blame Francis for what happened. It's not like the rest of the band didn't want him gone as well.

Even stories that have been independently corroborated make it clear that Alan was a bit of a bully and a dickhead. Fantastic musician, though. It's a shame that he had such a difficult personality and things didn't work out differently.

Bands evolve sometimes for the better sometimes not, I stopped listening to Quo after ‘Blue for you’ I just felt the direction & personal changes were wrong, but for 5 or 6 years previous the frantic four were untouchable, the live shows caused near riots & the ‘hello’ ‘quo’ & ‘on the level’ albums are masterpieces

    m.... m....

That's interesting, I gave up after Blue For You too! I thought they were finally getting a bit "samey" and going through the motions. I guess the advent of punk made them sound a bit dated all of a sudden too.

I totally agree with you, from a fan born in 1984, but brought up on dad's lps of on the level quo, dog of two head and many prior albums. Rick was seriously underated with his voice and song writing talent. I cried when I heard the news of his death

    m.... m....

I gave up after Hello when the whole denim thing became a bit of a cliche and I had a more sophisticated image to pursue!

    m.... m....

I have to agree with everything you have just said furthermore I think Francis Rossi ( and I once had a memorable Evening with him) has turned the new Quo into his backing band and when Rick had his cardiac arrest and subsequently died Status Quo died too, those are my heart felt feelings about a British institution
