Statler Brothers, The - Whatever Happened To Randolph Scott Lyrics

Everybody knows when you go to the show you can't take the kids along
You've gotta read the paper and know the code of GPG and R and X
And you gotta know what the movie's about before you even go
Tex Ritter's gone and Disney's dead and the screen is filled with sex
Whatever happened to Randolph Scott ridin' the train alone
Whatever happened to Gene and Tex and Roy and Rex the Durango Kid
Oh whatever happened to Randolph Scott his horse plain as could be
Whatever happened to Randolph Scott has happened to the best of me

Everybody's tryin' to make a comment about our doubts and fears
True Grit's the only movie I've really understood in years
You gotta take your analyst along to see if it's fit to see
Whatever happened to Randolph Scott has happened to the industry
Whatever happened to Johnny Mack Brown and Alan Rocky Lane
Whatever happened to Lash LaRue I'd love to see them again
Whatever happened to Smiley Burnette Tim Holt and Gene Autry
Whatever happened to all of these has happened to the best of me
Whatever happened to Randolph Scott has happened to the industry

    Damn catchy tune

His horse, his favorite, was Stardust, a Saddlebred. Stardust was not “as plain as could be”. He was a dark chestnut with flaxen mane and tail. Sometimes described as a dark palomino.
Rocky Lane’s horse Blackjack and Rex Allen’s horse Koko were Morgan’s.
Roy Roger’s Trigger was clocked in one chase scene doing 62 mph. The only horse that outran Trigger, for a short distance, was not a horse, but Raymond Hatton’s donkey Dinah.

The Statlers were major act, touring as the Headliners in top venues, combining with Cash and most other country singers. They had their share of Grammys and ACM awards, were long time members of the Grand Ol' Opry cast. The description above is insulting to their memory.

Even as a kid I never liked those kind of westerns. It is a real hot LZ, People are being blown away right and left,. Gen Autry rides in to save the day. Clint Eastwood is more my style.

    J.... A....

John Acord and if you read their Bios you’ll learn they were true honest men with integrity that was reflected in their marriages and upbringing
And a compassionate behavior throughout their Lives of others!
And that is what won two world wars!

Recommend The Tall T..western I had never seen until recently, with Richard Boone..Randolph Scott reminded me of Gary Cooper somewhat.....the Statler Brothers one of the best groups ever, and of Virginia!...and the Oak Ridge Boys (esp. Jesus is Coming Soon!)..of the many great western TV shows in the past, I think Richard Boone in Paladin - Have Gun Will travel..was perhaps the best!...the Renaissance Man from San Francisco who traveled like a knight in shining armor throughout the west! (maybe The Rifleman no. 2!)

    K.... O....

    They were the best.
