Starr, Ringo - Golden Blunders Lyrics

Golden blunders come in pairs,
They're very unaware
What they know is what they've seen.
Education wasn't fun,
But now that school is done,
Higher learning's just begun, hey, hey, hey.

You're gonna watch what you say for a long time,
You're gonna suffer the guilt forever.
You're gonna get in the way at the wrong time,
You're gonna mess up things you though you would never.

Disappointment breeds contempt,
It makes you feel inept,
Never thought you'd feel alone at home.
His and hers forever more,
Throw your freedom out the door
Before you find out what it's for, hey, hey, hey.

You're gonna watch what you say for a long time,
You're gonna suffer the guilt forever.
You're gonna get in the way at the wrong time,
You're gonna mess up things you though you would never.

Four weeks seemed like a long time then,
But nine months is longer now.
And even if you never speak again,
You've already made the wedding vow.

You're gonna watch what you say for a long time, (boy)
You're gonna suffer the guilt forever.
You're gonna get in the way at the wrong time, (girl)
You're gonna mess up things you though you would never.

Honeymoons will never start,
Bonds will blow apart
Just as fast as they were made.
Men and women, please, beware,
Don't pretend you care.
Nothing lasts when nothing's there, ah-hah-hah.

You're gonna watch what you say for a long time, (boy)
You're gonna suffer the guilt forever.
You're gonna get in the way at the wrong time, (girl)
You're gonna mess up things you though you would never.

You're gonna watch what you say for a long time, (boy)
You're gonna suffer the guilt forever.
You're gonna get in the way at the wrong time, (girl)
You're gonna mess up things you though you would never.

Starr, Ringo Golden Blunders Comments
  1. B.... E....

Doesn't hold a candle to the original.

  2. M.... H....

better than the original, plus, golden slumbers is what blunders is sort of a tribute to anyway, including the lines in both songs about carrying weight a long time or forever, etc. kind of obvious. it's like the abbey road song, part 2 is what posies and ringo should call it. nice touch with "boy!" and multi tracked ringo's vocals it sounds like

  3. N.... ....

I prefer Ringo's version, after listening to The Posies version, the latter sound unemotional and more of a mopey song. Ringo's version in my opinion sounds more emotional and makes you think about life.

    N.... ....

@NWR1991 Um, couldn't disagree with you more on that.

    N.... ....

Well I have a right to an opinion and I don't really like The Posies' version

    N.... ....

    NWR1991 your opinion is wrong.

    N.... ....

Yuk. Ringo is just dialling in a vocal

  4. M.... W....

Oh man....been listening to the original for 21 years.  Just discovered this.  Oy vey.

  5. J.... N....

I'll take the Posies version any day of the week, but so great to see that Ringo was a fan and felt the song was worthy of covering.

  6. R.... R....

I´ll stick to The Posies´version, thank you...

  7. M.... H....

    Love this!

  8. R.... C....

This is exactly what I'd expect a Ringo cover of this great Posies song to sound like. As accomplished an artist as he is, Ringo is not a great vocalist. But the rhythms, orchestration and chorus arrangement are fun and punchy. Props to Ringo for selecting a great bands song and giving them some due. Recognize!

  9. I.... G....

shocked that ringo attempted this great song. Points awarded for having good taste but his voice is just too tired to carry it off. Shame

  10. G.... ....

Oh, how very wonderful. This makes me so very happy. Brilliant.

  11. 6.... ....

Great cover of a Posies song. I never realzed Ringo did this one.
