Staind - Safe Place Lyrics
Another day
Inside my world
I'm married to
you and this road.
A road that never lets
So theres no way to escape the
demons I am forced to keep.
And then I find you here
Through your eyes
Everything's clear
And I'm home
Inside your arms,
But I'm alone for now.
with what I say.
It doesn't always
sound that way
I never learned to
Work things out cause
In my family all we
Ever seem to do is shout
But then I find you here
Through your eyes,
everythings clear
And I'm home
inside your arms,
but I'm alone for now.
And when I try to sleep-
the drugs I take
are killing me - I think of you
to ease my pain -
but you're so far-
Now it's time to say goodbye.
I love you baby
please don't cry -
'cause then I'll find you here -
Through your eyes everythings clear -
and I'm home inside your arms - but I'm alone for now.
But then I find you here
Through your eyes,
everythings clear
And I'm home
inside your arms,
but I'm alone for now.

Coming back to this for answers and being able to see the staggering difference between then and now... it's... difficult to say.
For so long, all I wanted was to be a husband and a father. One better than my own father. But I never knew how to be better, at least not back then.
I was filled with so much pain and jealousy. I was a hollow shell of a human being. Cold, empty inside.
That was almost 20 years ago. I'm just now recovering from those scars. All I can really say is that I've accepted the nature of my history, why I felt the way I did and how I lost contact with who I truly wanted to be.
"Theres no way to escape these demons I am forced to keep" that hits home
"I never learned to work things out 'cause in my family all we ever seem to do is shout" very relatable
For the only woman who connected more with me than anyone then disconnected and went away forever. I love you Jessica Justina
They are getting back together woohoo

This song reminds me of myself wanting to be with a certain person while battling an addiction. Everything seems easier when he's with me, it's like I don't need the alcohol or need to self harm anymore. He's hundreds of miles away and I just want him to come back to me. Hell, I'd drive every day to see him if I had the money.
Staind began their frequent power ballads with Break the Cycle.
Thank you for posting the best audio of this song available on youtube. Also you have the song title correct. Thank you for that as well. \m/
i love this song I love how they say at the end of the chorus "but im alone for now" speaks volumes to me
You can hear the emotion in Lewis’s voice when he sings this. Beautiful expression of anger and sadness all in one piece. Underrated track for sure.
the track that never worked on the CD!
So many memories comes with this song for me. It never gets old.
yah i miss dz song..
STaINd #1
I remember I used to listen to this song in my deppression periods and actually those days were literaly in rainy seasons
Staaaaaiiinddd😍😍😍
All we ever seem to do is shout
I got this cd when I was 11 and have jammed ever since with staind.
My boyfriend loves this beautiful song💖 Now understand all of him completely😢
All you need to know is you're his "safe place". I've felt that way before with someone, it was a lie. Years later I've found it again. I believe it again. Be everyones "safe place" you care about. \m/
Break the Cycle was a beautiful album. Very profound. This happens to be one of my favorite songs from that album. Just breathtaking. This got me through some tough times in Middle/High school.
Third favorite song from BREAK THE CYCLE: 1. It's Been A While; 2. Change; 3. Safe Place. The entire CD is AMAZING!!!
Jamal Sampson I swear it is
Best alternative rock album EVER next is nirvana nevermind and hybrid theory reanimation meteors by LP and cant forget chocolate starfish LIMP BIZKIT
Jamal Sampson While I think It's Been A While is the weakest song on the album because it's so overplayed I'm so happy Change is your 2nd it's their strongest song on the album and ever IMPO
Album helped me through such a hard time in Highschool
I cant understand how come they never play this song live Actually i think they never did it even once One of the best songs from staind and break the cycle
Pretty much grew up with this album, ahh the memories.
What an amazing album and band!
break the cycle is the best album from Staind I still love this album in my thirties💗👍
I am almost 47 and this is my favorite album. It is a life changing and probably a life saving album for me. I hope it has had the same effect on you.
Break the cycle...was the best of STAINED's best..
my shit
who's watching in 2026?
I'm always going to be listening to this song.
I'll be listening to this in 2100 when i'm 105 years old, all though i'll probably be long gone by then.
Hellyeah someone else! All you people stuck in 2018 have no idea. In 2026 we have cannabis legal worldwide, a cure for all terminal diseases, no wars, no political divisiveness, hunger and true poverty no longer exist, all our homeless are now housed and fed, drug related crimes are basically non existent, we started using rehabilitation instead of incarceration for drug offenders, we all love our neighbors and take care of them, we hold doors for people and say thank you, yes ma'am and yes sir. These are just the things we've accomplished in the first year. We'll be traveling back from time to time to make sure you guys don't screw it up.
Nope, 2046
funny how thats only 7 years away now
otra vez en el interior de mi mundo
It amazes me how one can connect so intimately with a song, that it could forever be a conduit straight to a specific time and place. That's magic.
+Thrillhouse What is even more amazing is that I have not had a connect to this song as far as having very sad times (nor do I want to), yet I can feel the tragedy in his lyrics of any of the band's songs, the love and escape he finds through whoever this song is for. This band knows how to make you FEEL WHAT THEY FEEL! I love them for that!
loved this song since day one, but why do i see it called "warm safe place" all of a sudden? did the name of the song change at some point? could have sworn it was called "safe place" from the start
It was. That’s what it says on the CD. I think on iTunes and other digital platforms it is now called Warm Safe Place, so of course that’s what most people are going to call it now, despite the original title being Safe Place.
@Fleef69 theres gotta be a reason they changed it
Me and my dad used to listen to this album back when I was 5. That was a decade ago. And I still have this album . The nostalgia is too strong every time I listen to it
tonesofdef Same here man🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
This is in my opinion Staind's most underrated, and possibly, best song they have made in their career. I love their angry work too but this song always stands out to me
Michael Osborne My favorite song and arguably their strongest song is Change on this album
There is nothing wrong crying from feeling the strong emotional message they give to us to experience and take in. It's sadness that's not meant to bare but that's the reality we live in. Love the song tol
My most favorite is right here, next is outside, reply, waste, n, well you get me lol
This is the best song of Staind and one of the best from the 2000s era. I love you baby please don't go.
I wounder how he found that peace in his heart, feom all this hate and anger..??? #1fan
He got a family.
Best Staind album. Great song.
seems like a lot of songs Staind records are (power) ballads, not that there's anything wrong with that, I do enjoy listening to music you hold a lit lighter up to
"I never learned to work things out, cause in my family all we ever seem to do is shout." Describes my dad and HIS family to a T
Speaks to my very soul every fkn time man . . .
soundtrack of my life!
This song will always remind me of high school, always
and then I'll find you here
Through your eyes
Everything's clear
And I'm home
Inside your arms
But I'm alone for now.
William Warero my favorite corse
This album and specially this song hit me right in my nostalgic feels...
Absolutely beautiful. Completely flawless. I don't even know what else to say about this song. It's just utter perfection.
this is my shit!
I just made a promise to myself, i wouldnt fuck buy everything that is advertised on this website because it pisses me off to seat through these bullshits while i just want to enjoy listening to my fucking music.
best staind album ever
Yeah Oregon's awesome
considering this song is old probably no one will read this but i just wanted to say i have noticed literally about every staind song relates to me and my life this one in particular does completely and goes perfect with my life at the moment i love this band and all their songs... :)
You are not alone. I always felt the same way.
Damn 7 years ago you commented.. So noone will prob see this.. But lets see!
the deepest feelings of aaron, was print is this album
Theres no way to escape these demons i ammmm forcedddd to keeeeeeppppp
"And then I find you here, through your eyes everything's clear, and I'm home in your arms, but I'm alone for now" = one of if not the most beautiful lyrics I've ever heard.
one of the best from this album, it remains one of the only songs ever that will just make me cry
influenced from opeth...i like it
The chorus always makes me slip within the depths of my mind through all my memories...
Staind's songs always speak to me and relate to my life as Im sure it does to all of their fans...
thank you Staind for existing in our lives....
@laffyta2 Chapter V? Seriously? Their 2008 release was their only bad release. Everything else is great. I'm not sure what you're talking about.
PlormPloop I thought Chapter V was their weakest other than a few songs
SOMEONE IN MY HOME BROKE MY GUITAR TODAY !! IM AM A WRECK RIGHT NOW STAIND IS THE ONLY THING KEEPING ME FROM PUNCHING HOLES IN MY WALL
you gotta face it bands change over time if they tried to keep the same sound all albums would sound the same. i love tormented i love the illusion of progress and im already inlove with the new self titled album. i love aarons country side because im open to all music these guys produce. i am what id call a true fan lol
My older brother has PTSD and he listens to alot of Staind and KoRn, that's how I got into these guys.
@MaskedChild Indeed
Great example of being soft and not sounding like pussies.
STAIND FUCKING ROCKS!!!!!!!!!
OK apparently people don't realize music is like an open opinion. its open to anyone and there musical interpretation about songs, albums, covers or what ever. some of you guys on here say that tormented was there best album or dysfunction and 14 shades of gray were and guess what, your all right cause music is about what you feel when you hear the music but you guys need to really shut the fuck nobody wants read about a couple assholes who think one album is better than the other.
Nah man....Tormented's production and mixing/engineering is ABYMSAL. Why don't you be more open and NOT just call their first album 'their best' because it was their first...in other words, don't be a music snob, LAFFYTA....and for the songwriting talent? give me a break...they've never been ahead of the class when it comes to lyrical sophistication....The albums go in this order: Dysfunction, Break the Cycle, Tormented (maybE)
Don't be a music snob - that goes for everyone
idiots :)
You're cracked...production was horrendous, sound quality was gross and instrumentation was awful. Dysfunction is about 75x better than that shit album, Tormented. Get your own ears checked and stop thinking that every band's first album 'has to' be their best just like many, many people think. Biggest joke ever when people act that way. K thanks :)
Nearly a decade later and this song still makes me tear up.
EmpiricMetulz We need a 20 year anniversary tour
@hurtfan09 get your ears checked they were at their best with tormented
No, tormented sucked...Dysfunction and Break the Cycle were the only good ones
@hurtfan09 Don't forget Tormented.
i cry and cry and cry.... i love this song....
Underrated eh...not today, they are not...Dysfunction, Cycle, and Grey were good albums...everything after that was weak, repetitive, simple, and uninspired
underrated band imo
staind is cool
love the drums in here....pity nobody ever mentions it....really best you get in Rock Music
I love this song, if I was in a rock band trying to make it big, like performing in bars this is one song I would cover, only sounding like Aaron would be very hard lol.
powerful voice. love aaron lewis
hella good song, off an equally good record
This is their best song in my opinion....and it wasn't even released as a single.
You can never predict what will happen. Keep a positive attitude and people who care will surround you. This song rocks and gives a great msg!!!!!
@VicePower whatever dude leave it be I guess, u can make a change
@VicePower well there are still a lot of people that love you
@thelastisthefirst yeah I love this album but it's kinda hard cause I love all their albums, even the newest one even though it's not hard core like the old stuff, but still priceless
@VicePower why disagree? do u think you're a bad person or something?
@abortedfetalcorpse You're damn right thumbs down! Staind is not a gay name I think it's an awesome rock band name!
@VicePower Hey man thanks for being strong & getting through it, You have many people who love you & would be very upset if they lost you, U have my respect for staying strong bro. I love this song too this album is almost my favorite but I can't decide cause all their albums are awesome.
@thelastisthefirst Layne Stanley inspired Aaron & a lot of other bands like staind
@VicePower Dude u have a great taste in music
Amazing song
@MrsBabygerri same here
@tfsharr I'm going to college & try to get into the music biz & I'm going to cover this song some day & I'll be sure someone records it lol
@hannahthepiratebitch but people find shitty reasons why not too
This is the best song off the cd..Love the chorus too
I miss when they wrote these heavier, darker toned songs... nothing comes close to it
lol Brilliant
Aaron Lewis is one of a kind
There's no explaination to how good the song is, Aaron is just plain out awesome
yeah nor has anyone uploaded a live performance of this song
best song ever, where the hell has the video gone too youtube, the vid rocked with this song
