Spektor, Regina - 2.99 Cent Blues Lyrics
Somewhere far away where I roam
There live my buffalo twin in our twin buffalo home
He calls me by my native name
And takes good care of my native son
He even lets us drink spring water on Sundays 2.99 a gallon
And somewhere further down the road where I also roam
There lives my caterpillar cousin beneath a fancy engraved tomb head stone
In the middle of his southern town
Beneath a cemetery burial plot
He don't pay rent no more
But he sure likes the spot
But in the furthest place I've ever known
Where even I so rarely roam
There lives a boy who just come back from war
His mother calls him by his given name
And the neighbors whisper how he prefers to be alone
And he gets nightmares about boys dripping blood sold for 2.99 a gallon
But when I get me all real tired
And I got no more strength to roam
I catch me a horse driven carriage ride
From a local man named Ethan Frome
He don't say much as he tips his hat
And he carries his body as heavy as lead
And he could have been flying through the snow on his sled
But he wife was in bed and the horses had to be fed
Besides it's 2.99 a story
Pay up it's just 2.99 a story...
2.99 a gallon

"I HOPE TO MARRY THIS WOMAN ONE DAY"
-ROBERT GARDNER
regina spektor is a genre
I see you every regina spektor song, it's so funny😂
I could comment on every one I see you
@Axel Olivares Hahah yeah, its kind of embarrassing really
@Lilyfloss 😂😂
I love her!
Her music is so colorfull, so emotional. For every single moment in my life there is a song that fits just perfectly.
Zayades I love that she's not afraid to sound weird she's one of the few original artists of our time
she sounds a lot like Paula Frazer here.
2:03 DAYUM YES YOU GO GIRL *shakes hand in air*
This lady has got such a voice, some of her stuff reminds me of Ricky Lee Jones with the way she gets going on a few songs. Either way, agree or not, she's is new to me and I do like it, Thanks for posting.
11:11 is really bluesy which I love! But I like her later stuff too!
Ι 'll marry whoever finds me a physical copy of 11:11
That's one way of proposing.
Right? It’s not even on Spotify
@No username wow if someone does that for me
blues, jazz, hip-hop... you name it, Regina nails it.
same :3
She is a beautiful person!!!!!!!!!!
LOVE THIS SONG
THEY SHOULD MAKE IT 2.99!
... and sell it from the back of a truck...
so physical copies are a bust BUT amazon has this album for 6.99
THIS COULD BE PART OF AN AD!!
Woo! Ethan Frome! Maybe missing the real point of the song, but I love the reference. Regina's awesome for unusual references. It's like a treasure hunt!
@Lilyfloss Haha, I do that too with Regina's songs! xD
far out regina spektor rocks my sox! :)
@pudreteflandersedu really? I speak a little spanish and I always thought the same, but since I fail at the language I thought it was just because of that :P So I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought that, and you're right I don't think there's a Spanish Regina Spektor...
@pudreteflandersedu So you speak spanish? Cool! Ahh I'm sorry :( Yeah I think she was
@pudreteflandersedu Where are you from? Haha yeah me too, I discovered her like RIGHT after she left my city! I was so sad! I think I would die to see her live :D
Where are you from? Haha yeah me too, I discovered her like RIGHT after she left my city! I was so sad! I think I would die to see her live :D
@pudreteflandersedu It's amazing how she can be so inspiring nye? :)
They say not to judge a book by it's cover, but when I picked up Begin to Hope (my first Regina experience) I bought it cuz it had a pretty cover :) and I haven't regretted it since.
I really wish she would make another jazzy album, but I actually don't know if she could do these deep jazz vocals anymore her voice has changed for the better and sadly the worse for us old school regina lovers <3
This song is amazing! I like to listen to it on road trips
Best singer alive today, hands down!!
"2.99, 2.99, 2.99, 2.99, 2.99, 2.99, 2.99, nuh-99, ah, ah!"
Fave line ever. Regina can make ordinary change sound like brilliant poetry. :D
@merdufer OH MY GOD, who's the idiot that would do that o.O?
One of my favourite Regina songs. Actually.. I love all her songs :)
she has so many facets of talented voice:):):)
ANY style of music she wants to do she executes it perfectly!
these are the most accurate written lyrics i've ever read. hats off to slicknick1986
I love the lyrics the person wrote, "2.99, 2.99, a gah-guh-guh-guh-guh-guh-guh-guh-guh-guh-guh-guh-guh-guh-guh-guhhh-guh-guh-guuuh-guh-guh-guuuh-gah-gah-gah-gah-gah
Gah-gah-gah-gah-gahhhw"
@SyDickurschmooo -- Is your 'i' key sticky?
omg this song is so ga-ga-ga-ga-ga-ga great!
This is the Regina Spektor I wish others would see in her newer music. She is absolutely brilliant on this album.
@Teauxni19
Well, I'm a man, straigth too, but i'd marry her too... ;-)
She demans so much from her audience, its bloody brilliant.
Her voice can be unassuming, fierce and daunting.
And her aura, when she performs ... don't even get me started
@tomasjmm MEEE!!!!!!
who do i have to kill to get this album?
@tomasjmm interested. very interested.
I wonder if the two first verses also reference a book or some type of literature, like the way the third verse references ethan frome. Any ideas?
I searched for it for a long time, and I ended up finding a vinyl of it at a used music store. So, I would just check every time you go in a place.
@redstrabrerreez
i agree with you. a lot of her new stuff is great, but there's something really special about her earlier songs, like this one. It's like you can hear that she's recording the song, if that makes any sense...
...oh, i reALly love this song its like a redundant but it sounds good!!!!!regina is totally freaking awesome!!!!yeah im a big fan of regina!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think I've heard a whole lot of good music but 11:11 is definitely my all time favourite album
and c'mon, all the songs were written and performed and self-released by a 21 year old girl, but it's the most brilliant music I've ever heard
And Then
Her vocals are annoyingly amazing. Im glad she used them in this song, its really good. If i could sing, then it would totally be this on my list to learn.
I love her music so much!!!!!
This album is awsome, along with Songs.
Amazing
;D
Shes so gifted. :)
hannah montana is like an ant and regina is a dinosaur ;D I love her first, I loved her first! <3 Im in love, I think she like hypnotizes people lol cause everyones so in love with her, but I swear I loev her the most. I dont even think I listen to any other music anymore.
WAY better!!!!!!!!!!
you mean at 0:24? haha it gives me shivers!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this song~!!!!! I can't stop listening to it~!!! =D =D =D
I agree. :D
to even compare regina with hannah montana... -_-*
it's sweet how ecletic her style is. the singing has a good blues feel to it but it's so herself at the same time.
the chord at 0:22 cracks me up every time XD
we know , there ´s no queen who will ever sing better.
What is the difference between a genius and a pure genius?
she uses that piano beat in Ne meh quitte pas
thats true my friend
exactly I have the same idea....like you. She is a pure genius.
everytime i hear a new song
i fall more and more in love with her.
she
is
genius.
pure genius.
She changes her technique all the time between songs. o~- Don't you love it? X3 Unlike one-two tone bands. o.=
gah. a change up.. a streach gal. but wow us anytime. 2.99 3.99 4.99 its just gazz doll..
I love her vioce in this song
