Sparks - Change Lyrics

The rain is falling down
I feel like a dog that's been kicked out into the street
I know that dogs can't drive cars
But that's about the only difference between us now
But wait, there's a rainbow over the freeway
And I think I feel the morning sun
Another song is number one
Golden days have just begun
Change. Every dog is gonna have his day
Change. Every loser's gonna have his way
Change. I don't care what other people say
Well, you can't argue all day long about whether love really exists or not
It's a complete waste of time
Like arguing about whether Santa Claus really exists or not
I got better things to do with my time
I got places that I've gotta be
And people that I've got to see
Mountains that I have to ski
Golden days ahead of me
Change. Every dog is gonna have his day
Change. Every loser's gonna have his way
Change. I don't care what other people say
Change. I know everything will be OK
Paradise was here, paradise is gone
Greece and Rome were here, Greece and Rome are gone
The Wild West was here, the Wild West is gone
Vaudeville was here, vaudeville is gone
Change. Every dog is gonna have his day
Change. I don't care what other people say
You know I've been thinkin' we'll get bck together again someday
Your hair will be some weird color by then
Maybe we'll just start off again as friends
I wonder when
Change. Every dog is gonna have his day
Change. Every loser's gonna have his way
Change. I don't care what other people say
Change. I know everything will be OK
Change. Every dog is gonna have his day
Change. Every loser's gonna have his way
Change. I don't care what other people say
Change. Just ignore them and they'll go away

How Sparks never became superstars is a great and terrible mystery of existence. So many songs I KNOW could of been hits in their time with, maybe, the right promotion and amount of radio play.

Maybe it's because they aren't superstars that they go on creating so great great songs...

As I'm French, it's quite difficult for me to understand the lyrics, especially the second level. Seeing all the comments, I know that it's so sad for me... But however, I can focus on the great music, the different rythms and breaks created by Ron and the fantastic voice of Russell.

@Lucien Rubempre, my feeling to. They create and deliver music with wit, spirit and greatness, but the masses want sleazy and sobby love stories. Broken hearts are perfect muzak, but Sparks are too good for that. Their music demands a little "active listening", which a lot of people obviously can't manage ☹️.
    Nevertheless, I love them😍🤩😍🤩😍

@Hombeline FAURE, You can find most lyrics on
    www.allsparks.com
Go to "Discography" and click on the album you want song-lyrics from. You can find many songs on Internet, sometimes easier. And of course, many songs have lyrics in the comments!
I have realized that also native English speakers need to have written lyrics to get everything 😁
(And remember; in English (at least US) adieu pronounces "addoo", took me, Swedish, a while to understand. We have since a couple of hundred years used "adieu", almost French pronounciation but spelled very Swedish "adjö", the last letter is an O with two dots above, pronounces like "-ieu" 😂)

In an interview about 'The seduction of Ingemar Bergman' they compared themselves to him, in that matter that there had been people "dangling things in their faces", like "If you do this our way we can do this or that for you". But, as like Ingemar Bergman they don't want any commercial gain to go in between them and their independence as musicians and do their own thing.
Great choise, I love them for that 💖
I believe there had been more good music in general if more artist did the same. Instead there are a few people that decide what the public want. All that only to make more money for themselves. A shitty system.
All gratitude to Ron and Russell for standing up for themselves, also equal us who can see beyond promoted brainless stuff and appreciate something with substance.

People talk about "independent music". Yeah, if anything is INDEPENDENT music it's Sparks' 💖💖💖💖💖

Love the song and band sooo much.

Yes it should have been massive sad it wasn't and other mediocore crap made it into the lousy charts

  7. x.... ....

Great single that should have been massive !! Why this & the single 'So Important' flopped i'll never know !! Shame on you people !!

    x.... ....

@xtstevie Maybe because the media had lost interest in Sparks around that time? I love this song as well as "So Important".

I kind of understand why so important didn’t do well even though I absolutely love it, it just wasn’t the sound - it fell into the pool of former stars from the late 70s making dance-able pop stuff that was kind of weird, like when Gary Numan did Machine and Soul, a great album but the sound just wasn’t right for the charts. Change is honestly as good as This town but I don’t think people “got” it because the verses are spoken word. A lot of my favorite albums by bands I like are the ones from the late 80s that flopped. Change is my favorite song and I wish it charted especially so it would have a music video but unfortunately it wasn’t to be. The one song by sparks I really can’t believe didn’t chart was Armies of the Night, given it was in Fright Night and was 100 percent a dance-able catchy pop song even in a conventional sense of the word.
