If you're wondering why this space marine helped Raines consider the following: the space marine is from the Angels of Vengeance chapter, notoriously stubborn and who cannot accept failure. So much so they have a history of suffering very heavy losses but at the same time they have achieved objectives thought unobtainable by almost everyone else. So this particular marine sees Raines stand up with a busted leg, a fried Lasgun, against a group of hormogaunts with a piddling combat knife. He's not run or broken down, he is standing defiant, not accepting failure, embodying the AoV. The space marine practically fell in love

You have to think, in that moment, the marine had some respect for the guardsman, that he was willing to stand his ground, and know no fear. To ask him to take up his weapon and stand beside him in battle would, I think, be the closest an astartes could come to a compliment for a regular human.

Freakin Tyranids!! Really great job!! More than anything else I would LOVE to see a CGI of "The Fall of Malvolion" by Dan Abnett. I read it in White Dwarf sometime in the late 1990's, and I still read it every once in a while. Still my favorite Warhammer 40K short novel, even over the 30+ books I read of the Horus heresy. Worth checking out, and totally worth a Movie!! This guardsmen has to be one of the bravest bastards in the Imperium. He is a unaugmented human with injured leg and only a combat knife and yet instead of trying to run he prepares to fight 2-3 Hormagaunts in melee combat.

This is so epic! Many of today's movies are about the characters who effortlessly defeat anything and are like Mary Sue. This movie is the absolute opposite. A crippled guardsman, just a simple man facing the unhuman foe, yet he still stands and fights in the name of the Emperor. And then the space marine arrives.

People love this short richard. Im a combat vet i do too. The courage when the soldier prays and pulls his knife. The elation i feel when the deadly space marine enters the fight. This short was magnificent.

I think I am gonna make a Imperial Guard Sergeant for my IG army called Raines and give him a powerfist with Templar crusade iconography
