I have to say that I'm not a big Sophie fan but I must admit that she was probably one of the most underrated recording artist of the 90s.

It's interesting that this song clearly wasn't projected to be a single: the original was the B-side "Right Beside You". This remix is not awful, but I don't think it was the best option to follow-up "As I Lay Me Down". If they wanted uptempo, "Don't Don't Tell Me No" performed well in the UK or "I Need Nothing Else" on the album had the quicker beat they were clearly after and it was superior to this remix.

Also too pop. This song is clearly not on the happy side. I want the loss I want the pain I want to start my life again, I need to give you up. The album version has a more serious tone to it. In my opinion the song's subject matter is much darker than most of you might think. If any of you have seen the documentary, the cream will rise and paid attention to it then you would know what I'm talking about. I don't really want to say it on here unless somebody asks.

This indeed, to clarify some of the other posts, is the single release mix/edit/version. This was the one heard at the end of Mrs. Winterbourne.

I had heard the album mix first and fell in love with it. They both come from the same recording elements (Same vocal tracks being the big key), but that album version-- the soaring introduction vocal, the, lush backgrounds, the "theremin"-like middle break....almost damn near perfect. When I heard this, I was like "Eh....wait...what?' I mean it's still great, but the album version does it for me every single time.

What the fuck does this guy know about anything? Sophie B. Hawkins your music video has some weaknesses. People watching the video tie-in the images they see with the music they hear. An overall impression is formed. If your music is too powerful to ignore...then fine, nothing lost! Katharine McPhee found out that leaving a favorable picture (or two or three or more) may be more advantageous than leaving a video that reveals you in "less than perfect form." Just a suggestion. Nice music.

I saw her at the Charleston Sternwheel Regatta in 1995 when "Whaler" was released. It was sort of an "Unplugged" kinda concert. She was phenomenal! This is one of my favorite albums of all time. Everytime I listen to it, it's like I'm listening to it for the first time.

It was an acoustic, unplugged kinda concert, and it was nothing short of FABULOUS! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did, esoecially because you had to drive a lot further than I had to drive!!
