Smash Mouth - The Fonz Lyrics

I wanna try your shoes on
And wear them for a day
Learn to talk like you do
And say what I see
I'd talk like I knew something
That everyone wanted to hear

But you're the fonz

The definition of icy
The measure of what's up
You could play the tuba
And everyone would clap
Well I can play the tuba
And they all just shake their heads

Cause you're the fonz

I know its over for me
I know its over

Drove my car to the floor
And stood at the edge
When I woke up in heaven
Looked down and no one cared
But when you pulled your own trigger
They all gathered around to watch

Cause you're the fonz

  9. b.... ....

This band had a lot of potential to be great but they sold out hard.

    b.... ....

I know right? I'm 28 years old, and am literally just discovering this today. The record industry took a somewhat okay band and turned it into one of the biggest jokes in history.

    b.... ....

    Same happened to Sugar Ray

  10. D.... ....

    c.... ....

@Buford Montgomery No. Bush Sr. was busy rubbing elbows with Osama back then. The neo-cons hadn't created as many terrorists yet. And based on your bigoted comment you probably voted for those repugnantcans.

    c.... ....

Mc Griddle damn I feel bad for faggots like you. Oh well

  14. m.... p....

Did the Fonz die at the end?

    m.... p....

I thought he was a mechanic?

    m.... p....

This song isn't about Fonzie from Happy Days. The song is about someone the singer looks up to, and he wants to be like him. He calls him "The Fonz", meaning he's cool.
"The Fonz" could do something so stupid like play the tuba, that his several followers would be entertained. If the singer did the same, they'd laugh at him.
At the end, the singer kills himself by jumping off the top of a building and nobody cares, but when "The Fonz" kills himself via gun, everybody cares.

    m.... p....

The tuba isn't stupid. And I'm very sensitive to the idea of killing myself as someone I knew did that. I want a happy song. Can you please link me to a happy song?

    m.... p....

You may not think so, but a lot of people think it's a silly instrument to play.
If you want a happy song in this album, look for Why Can't We Be Friends?

    m.... p....

Not in this album, in any album, and I don't like songs about not being friends.
P.S. Silly does not equal stupid. Just ask any intelligent character from a Saturday Morning cartoon.

  15. J.... A....

    Northern lion anyone?

    J.... A....

    +Childish Kristino yes, lol

    J.... A....

    +Childish Kristino yep

I always felt this song was almost too melancholy. Listened to this album all the time in 6th grade sitting there playing Turok 1 and shit. When people still owned stereos and cd players, good times.

  18. O.... H....

Their best 3 albums were probably Fush Yu Mang, Astro Lounge, and Smash Mouth. When I was 7 or 8, my Dad gave me my first music player and music for my birthday. Astro Lounge and Smash Mouth were the first pieces of music I ever owned.
RIP Gary Colin Kochevar . I miss you Dad.
