Small Faces - Tin Soldier Lyrics

I am a little tin soldier
That wants to jump into your fire
You are a look in your eye
A dream passing by in the sky

I don't understand
All I need is treat me like a man
'Cause I ain't no child
Take me like I am

I got to know that I belong to you
Do anything that you want to do
Sing any song that you want me to sing to you

I don't need no aggravation
I just got to make you
I just got to make you my occupation

I got to know that I belong to you
Do anything that you want to do
Sing any song that you want me to sing to you

All I need is your whispered hello
Smiles melting the snow nothing heard
Your eyes are deeper than time
Say a love that won't rhyme without words

So now I've lost my way
I need help to show me things to say
Give me your love before mine fades away

I got to know that I belong to you
Do anything that you want to do
Sing any song that you want me to sing to you

Oh no no
I just want some reaction
Someone to give me satisfaction
All I want to do is stick with you
'Cause I love you

  1. C.... C....

The greatest mod band of all...

  2. G.... W....

why does this part remind me of immigrant song led zeppelin song 3:05 - 3:10

  3. p.... t....

Steve was a great showman maybe thanks to his earlier theatrical background.

  4. b.... c....

Steve Marriot went on to Humble Pie (Walk on guilded splinters on "Rockin the Filmore" has to be one of the greatest live rock song going)...and of course "The Small Faces" became "The Faces" with Rod Stewart taking over as lead....And we all know what happened to Ronnie Lane ...God Bless.

  5. M.... R....

    Britannia 2x02

  6. C.... T....

    Fantastic

  7. G.... K....

The best song of S.F. Both the group and Steve are underrated in British Rock History. P.P. Arnold is simply SWEET!

  8. J.... O....

    From reading about his .
Childhood(being born in Londons "Post War"East End)to hardworking east enders and then his parents recognising their son's potential(He was in the original"Oliver"in Londons W .end)and then he went onto drama school(at the ,Italia Conti"Drama school)but his real passion was singing and music, hence his rise to fame..So he really was a "child prodigy"with immense talent as this video demonstrates&way an head of his time..

  9. T.... T....

Just have to listening friggin brilliant song

  10. i.... g....

cant hear the black chick in this version

  11. M.... F....

This is such a great song. 50 years down the line it still sounds wicked and lifts you big time.

  12. T.... ....

Thumbs down. That’s sad, social media puppets perhaps

  13. m.... s....

Steve Marriott help the Rolling Stones backup vocals in another land

  14. P.... B....

Wow, what a great song and performance. Wish I could here this performance live rather than a lips sync.

  15. T.... T....

    Just suberbRock!

  16. W.... ....

Came here cause of Kenny Shields. Just terrific! So much raw emotion!

  17. C.... R....

Great song but this is NOT live.

    C.... R....

Oh, who really cares, Clivester? Dinosaurs are great, but they're not live, either. Now, go complain about your lint trap or something even more important, man.

  18. L.... K....

    Unbelievable music

  19. h.... ....

Steve Marriott was , is and always will the benchmark.......no one has yet to raise the bar.

  20. W.... N....

Will NEVER get tired of listening to this!

  21. L.... R....

    Awesome!

  22. G.... R....

Crank it up, moflows and watch the cones on your cheap Cerwin Vega speakers melt when you jack your McIntosh tube amp up to max volume and then go up one more to 11.

    G.... R....

Got that right; pumping my Bose 301's to the limit!

  23. R.... M....

    Pure rock&soul genius !!!

  24. V.... L....

This is also a great song

  25. V.... L....

Did anybody click to quickly before they realized it wasn’t “One Tin Soldier” the theme song for Billy Jack?🤦🏻‍♀️

    V.... L....

    Yes, a rather fortunate mistake.

  26. B.... P....

    The quality is shit :D

  27. J.... W....

Early on the lip-sync works...not so much later. Really it doesn't matter because we are watching R&R gold here. Rock and Roll Royalty must include The Small Faces and it only gets a little richer with P.P. Arnold adding background vocals. I've seen this video before but the sound was spotty and the video grainy so this is a definite big improvement. I love me some Small Faces and you should too!

  28. c.... ....

I just read Kenny(drummer) and the band did not enjoy lip singing to their record. Not bad video.

  29. J.... T....

How can anyone dislike this? It`s magic from Marriot, Plonk and co!

  30. M.... M....

Was that Ronnie Lane on organ

  31. J.... C....

Wonderful je retrouve ma jeunesse merci

  32. J.... D....

Steve had a very distinctive voice which excels all others...once listened to, never forgotten...A true artist. R.I.P.

  33. R.... D....

    The legendry legend

  34. G.... C....

Where the F did this come from? I don't want to see Justin Timberlake do a version of this.

  35. t.... ....

This. THIS!!! Is why I hate today's shit music!!!! Lol. (But it's true.)

  36. D.... G....

Great song. Weird clip though - the two singers don’t acknowledge each other at all.

  37. J.... F....

There are But Four Small Faces is one the greatest rock albums that most people have never heard, and they don't know what they have missed!

  38. W.... ....

The Artfull Dodger is sadly missed. My hero.

    W.... ....

    Cigarettes kill.

  39. W.... K....

One of the very best pop songs ever!

  40. P.... ....

I was 14 years old, supposed to be doing my homework, when I played this up loud and wrote down the lyrics. My Mum stormed in: 'What's this bloody rubbish you're writing!' 51 years later, my dear ol' Mum has passed, and it's probably true the lyrics are a bit rubbishy. But man, it's still one of the great songs.

    P.... ....

That's a pile of pants, Paddy....I just wanted to say my favorite English phrase...:) and, BTW, Bob's not your Uncle.

  41. s.... b....

It's 2019 and I'm still waiting to hear something that tops this, it's not going to happen.

  42. t.... S....

    Live performance, very good

  43. M.... C....

This song inspired The Raspberries "Tonight" (from 1973 "Side 3"). Small Faces "Tin Soldier" went to # 73 in May of 1968 while "Tonight" went to # 69 in October of 1973.

  44. S.... C....

  45. J.... W....

    J.... W....

Heartbreaker by the Stones borrowed heavily from the intro.

  47. M.... B....

  64. M.... M....

  65. R.... L....

    Brilliant ....

  66. K.... W....

Marriott was one of Britain's greatest rock stars. His career went into decline when the Small Faces's reformation in the mid 1970s failed, and he died tragically in 1991. He is a completely different type of singer to Rod Stewart, and just as great. For the record, in the UK the Small Faces and the Faces are seen as quite different groups, so we do not see comparisons as being necessary or needed.

  67. T.... T....

    JUST AMAZING!

  68. .... ....

    All thumbs up

  69. p.... ....

Never mind Jagger, Morrison, Plant, Tyler, etc., Steve Marriott was the ultimate rock 'n' roll performer ever. The band Small Faces was hugely underrated; Kenney Jones was amazing on drums, perhaps second only to Keith Moon; Ian McLagan's organ sent many of their tunes into orbit.

  70. L.... ....

I hear 'Gimme Shelter' in this song, but I think this came first. So I guess they influenced the Rolling Stones to some degree. Great song.

  71. M.... M....

Watch the black girls face. Priceless.

  72. B.... C....

I wonder if Paul Weller has heard this before😍🤩😎🛵

  73. T.... R....

    What a Great rock hit!!

  74. C.... L....

Just got PP Arnold's autograph at the weekend- just saying!

  75. 7.... ....

IT CAN'T rock any better than THIS HERE !!!! Small ,... FACES !!

  76. M.... M....

If anyone has ever played in a band this video is an inspiration

  77. E.... B....

Love the way Steve bows down to the last drum beat.

  78. L.... M....

I'm a great Beatles fan but, along with "Waterloo Sunset", this is probably in my top two of 60s songs...........

  79. A.... M....

Never heard it before...which surprises me 🤔

  80. a.... l....

This would make number one ,if it wasn't for weeping young dickheads ,get a life youth wake up ,put your knives away and go and learn an instrument.

  81. E.... H....

What a great band from the 60's, still great to listen to in 2019 🤗

  82. R.... D....

Best faces of all time - Thanks. RIP.

  83. m.... ....

  87. L.... l....

  88. S.... G....

965 people do not know what a bloody good song is!!!

  89. D.... E....

what kind of cloth eared tool gives this a thumbs down?

  90. t.... ....

Steve Marriot is the voice of rock

  91. I.... R....

    Paul Wellers Role Model .🇬🇧

  92. C.... W....

this guy is miles ahead of all around him

  93. E.... A....

Steve Marriot showing us all how to rock sing and how a guitar should be properly handled. Page and Plant took accurate notes on this

    E.... A....

Rob Grille knew how to handle a bass guitar. Check him out on this Eko model 995. He practically plays lead on this song. The bass line is all I remember from this song.

    E.... A....

@George Ralph wow that 's genius, never heard of The Grass Roots before, thank you

  94. Z.... S....

    Fuckin' brilliant !

  95. F.... W....

Sorry forgot to applaud PP. She had a great run in the UK. I guess she quit the Iketts in 67. Hooked up with Jagger, she and Steve had an arrangement. They backed her up in some of her work. She backed numerous others too. I think I read in one of the comments that she's still around. Does her voice still have the same power at 75ish?

  96. F.... W....

The funny thing about Steve was his size. Where the hell did that voice come from? Humble Pie kicked ass..He had that weird experimental phase that turned Peter off and a lot of listeners but the Pie kicked ass. Smoking kills in more ways than most.

  97. B.... ....

Wonder where Paul Weller got it from eh?

  98. P.... D....

    Damn, that's some good harmonies.
