Slaves - As The Light Cracks The Foundation Lyrics
I'm fighting from the fire again
The whole time I was spread beneath the ashes
I'd rather leave but if we had to go back
I'd take all of you
Poured to be cracked open.
I watched the light find it's way in.
Maybe my life was meant to be tested.
How else will you learn from me failing.
I wanna step out of your shadow
But when I do there's no sunlight at all.
Pressed against the wall
We can't stop breaking
These nights, they never fail to show us
I can't wait to be born again
I belong here
I was meant to be condemned for your fears.
Sometimes you need to look down
To find faith again
I'd rather see you die than watch you choke.
I'd rather see you die than watch you grow.
I wanna step out of your shadow
But when I do there's no sunlight.
Pressed against the wall
We can't stop breaking
These nights, they never fail to show us
Who we are.

Slaves As The Light Cracks The Foundation Comments
This album is without a doubt Jonnys best work besides DBM. Light years ahead of slaves first album. I don’t understand how anybody can listen to this and not see that. Amazing and passionate vocals, lyrics, and songwriting. This album is so underrated.
What does he say in the outro? I hear:
"(?)
These walls cracked down underneath your fire
(?)
These walls cracked down underneath my fire"
This is one of the greatest albums of all time. I listen to it almost daily since the release
😍😍😍
this is going to sound corny but i rediscovered myself with Slaves. Thank you for this beautifull experience!
Yo canto mejor !!! lml jaj
Just realized this was Jonny I'm lovin this 😂❤
How do you just realize lol You should be able to tell immediately! He has a unique voice and sound!
I love the very beginning lyrics and how he sings "id rather leave" haha so good. Oh to have them vocals lol
I'm fighting from the fire again
Reminds me of Kuroi Ledges opening lyrics: The cool air takes me back
DgD vocalists ftw!

i just want to drink a beer with you jonny.. ive been trying for years now.. or even just a high five
+Lyndsey Broyles You'd get better results if you brought heroin with you. jk sorry jonny
i thought it was crack. im down for whatever i just want to hump his voice box
+Lyndsey Broyles during the dgd ten year anniversary I got to see him and we had a fee drinks it was literally the best experience for me, if you see him live he usually hangs around the merch tables
When he comes to Fresno, he has a drink at Strummer's after he performs. All the fans drink with him and have a great time. Pretty cool, even DGD goes after they play at that venue
Lyndsey Broyles My top 10 goodlooking band frontman list

YAAAAASSSSSSSSS FUCK ME UP JONNY!!
+Jackeline Posada same XD
where is your mother
Create_ Consciousness 😂😂😂😂
This one reminds me of old emarosa
How? Old Emarosa was hard and loud.
I understand what he means. There is a certain intensity about it that johnny usually uses when the instruments are harder.
I can somewhat see it, but don’t completely agree. Lyrically and vocally it may resemble older emarosa. Musically it’s not even close. As much as I love slaves and the new lineup, this has a totally different sound musically. Old emarosa was heavy, fast and hard with clean and unclean vocals. Great time for the scene in my opinion. Then again, I’m old as fuck now and am trying like hell to hang on to the good old sound.
I'll listen to anything with jonny, for the rest of my life. this shit is too good. just makes me feel better. takes away my anxiety. feels like home!
+kendra neely same here man
so much yes to this.
Lyrics; I love this song, personal favorite on this album
Why is it, that when I read the lyrics online, it says, "I'd rather see you die, than watch you grow". Yet if you listen to the vocals of JC, the verse sounds like, "I'd rather see you die, than watch you hurt"? Really confusing me with that one, but all in all, possibly my favorite song on the album at the moment.
+Brandon Setsodi its actually 2 lines
First line: I'd rather see you die, than watch you choke
Second line: I'd rather see you die, than watch you hurt
Then chorus
Hope it helps!
I always thought it was I'd rather see you die than watch you cry :/
To the ones who dislike:
there is 14 other songs on this album that are all different. Check out a few others.
LYRICS?
This straight uo sucks
@NNuclearWinter i didn't read that. stop being a whiney bitch.
+NNuclearWinter Drink some bleach, do the world a favor.
@NNuclearWinter hahahahahahaha
You straight up suck! LMAO.
When is he gonna learn a new melody? All his songs sound the same.
Who cares
My favorite track on the record.
That Chorus! Gives me chills everytime!
The breakdown and the intro was the only good part the rest of the time the beat made no sense or the effects made his singing not understandable.
+GusMOfficialChannel ok, so tesseract is cleancore? LMAO
@shucklesors Terraract are obviously progressive metal/djent, just like they label themselves. You can understand the meaning of it with a few good examples that Zachary gave, if you scroll in the comments. Anyway I don't get the point on bothering me and whinning about an expression I use to label a couple bands, if you don't like it or you disagree just ignore it...
+GusMOfficialChannel damn dude, I thought it was clever. The cleancore thing
@Mackenzie Wood thanks mate, too bad that some people just have to bitch about everything
I love it!
