I believe Skylar Grey is very talented, as a writer and a singer. I personally prefer Rihanna's voice. (Though it may be autotuned, it still sounds good to me.) No hate to Skylar though, her singing is very good too. I like other songs sung by her a lot better. But I do believe Skylar deserves the credit for this song. Being a "Part III" doesn't feel right. More like "Part II (Original)" as it was originally wrote by her and didn't have the rap. (No hate to the rap, I love the story it tells and its power thats combined with Rihanna's singing). Skylar's story through this song was by her and it's beautiful and powerful and she deserves to be known that it's because of her. Rihanna's songs aren't able to match Skylar's in my opinion.

Her voice gives me shivers (in a good way), especially the first and second verse between the chorus, where she sings in a lower tone and a bit gravely which is extremely sexy.

Found out about this version last week and this much more heartfelt and personal. I love Em & Rihanna in general and I understand that their version got more publicity and sales but still, they kind of butchered it to a traditional pop song by feeding it to some POPTRON 3000 machine that shat out Em&rihanna version, with full "band playing" and autotune to some extent of course.

More emotion, some say? All I hear is her struggling to hit the high notes. She was better in the coming home part 2. In that one she actually adds creative lines. I like the riana version better. To me that one really shows the pain and intense mood of the entire situation, unlike this one which makes it seem as not much of a big deal aside from slight heartbreak... After hearing the coming home part 2 she did I really expected more from her... Sorry. It's just my opinion.
