Sinatra, Frank - Night And Day Lyrics

Night and day, you are the one
Only you 'neath the moon or under the sun
Whether near to me or far
It's no matter, darling, where you are
I think of you day and night

Night and day, why is it so
That this longin' for you follows wherever I go ?
In the roarin' traffic's boom
In the silence of my lonely room
I think of you day and night

Night and day, under the hide of me
There's an oh, such a hungry yearnin' burnin' inside of me
And its torment won't be through
Till you let me spend my life makin' love to you
Day and night, night and day

[Instrumental]

Night and day, you are the one
Only you 'neath the moon or under the sun
Whether near to me or far
It's no matter, baby, where you are
I think of you day and night

Night and day, why is it so
That this longin' for you follows wherever I go ?
In the roarin' traffic's boom
Silence of my lonely room
I think of you day and night

Night and day, under the hide of me
There's an oh, such a hungry burning inside of me
And its torment won't be through
Till you let me spend life makin' love to you
Day and night, night and day

Night and day, you are the one
Only you 'neath the moon, or under the sun
Whether near to me or far
It's no matter darling, where you are
I think of you day and night

Night and day, why is it so?
That this longing for you follows wherever I go
    In the roaring traffic's boom
In the silence of my lonely room
I think of you day and night

Night and day, under the hide of me
There's an oh, such a hungry yearning
Burning inside of me and its torment won't be through
'Til you let me spend my life making love to you
Day and night, night and day

Night and day, you are the one
Only you 'neath the moon, or under the sun
Whether near to me or far
It's no matter baby, where you are
I think of you day and night

Night and day, why is it so?

    This is my JAM.

  3. D.... B....

No, trying to be a smoothie and polish over what the original did. Listen to the earliest possible original, Fred Astaire, during the Great Depression. You have to have that spirit with this song.

  4. J.... H....

Cole Porter classic, I was watching a movie with Kevin Klein playing Cole Porter, great movie, the man had his struggles but a great crafter of music.

  5. e.... m....

Justin Bieber performs the most definitive version of this song.

  6. K.... L....

Joe Tribianni me trouxe aqui, apesar de que eu já conhecia o Sinatra 😂

    K.... L....

    eu também! lol

  7. i.... t....

It doesn't get much better than this, ahhhh....

  8. b.... 2....

    Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. N.... B....

I often put some Frank Sinatra, specifically this song when I get home from work on a Friday night and am about to cook.

  10. R.... ....

My favorite Porter tune and Frank's smooth croon does it more than justice !

  11. S.... C....

    His voice is so smooth..

  12. D.... C....

Bringing on the ritz theatre show brought me here

  13. h.... ....

This is my favorite Frank Sinatra recording.

    h.... ....

there is one more version of this song ...more jazzy i have on tape

  14. D.... B....

Great to hear this old Cole Porter song again. A beautiful song sung by one of the greatest.

  15. o.... ....

The prelude verse into this track is omitted from this wonderful recording.

  16. G.... B....

Sinatra’s absolute peak or greatness was arguably his late 1950s output.

  17. s.... d....

Please dear god why did this become about a shitty TV sitcom? This is one of the greatest arrangements and vocal performances ever and you're talking about that shitbag stupid TV show? Go outside. Live your life. This is the freaking CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD. Ugh. I was happy until the comments.

  20. A.... P....

Duck, Chick or Chuck and Dick :) Friends, great memories. This is a classic :)

  21. K.... S....

THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD. WHAT AN AMAZING GOD GIVEN TALENT.

  22. E.... M....

It sounds different than the one on the Jazz Classics CD I got and it's supposed to be the same one. Wish I could find that CD version.

  33. P.... W....

I dont think I've ever heard Frankie hit a wrong note.
    Remarkable!

  34. A.... P....

This is the definitive version. Frank by this point in the late 1950's was no longer the crooner, but a mature artist with a powerful and artistically sophisticated voice. Couple this with Nelson Riddle and the great American Song book classic by Cole Porter you have one of the greatest recordings ever made.

    A.... P....

    Well said !

  35. T.... S....

  44. D.... D....

It's amazing when the orchestra apparently didn't have a conductor.

Why wasn't this in Fallout 4?!

  46. B.... B....

  80. M.... A....

    Classic

  81. S.... C....

I too was brought he from the FRIENDS show but... still not QUITE the same version. But pretty damn close and still a pretty snazzy version :) My guess is the studios, with permission, made the tweaked cut for the show like how they tweaked up the U2 song "With Or Without You" for Ross & Rachel's theme. But that was because U2 didn't allow the actual music to be used at first.

  82. M.... A....

Batman vs superman here...... if someone know it

    M.... A....

    same man

    M.... A....

    Vasili Natsis hey... bunny rabbit

  87. T.... R....

    It's "'neath" the moon.

  88. j.... ....

I think of music, pure and simple. Such great timing, tone, timbre. The first time I ever went to New Your, I rode with a cabbie who played Sinatra only, on the radio! He had stations that played only Sinatra; this was before satellite radio. I did not hear the greatness in it. I had not heard enough music yet. I was eighteen years old.

    j.... ....

+Reagan Wiles And then you came of age :) Nothing like a few years and some perspective!

  89. R.... F....

When I listen to this, I start thinking of Friends S04 E04 where Mr Treeger allows Joey to be his dance partner.

    R.... F....

Ramy Fares that’s how I found this

    R.... F....

Lol! Watching Friends rn! That's why I looked it up!

  90. G.... D....

  91. R.... H....

Joey and Treeger are now up on the roof of the appartment, dancing the night away.. Under the stars and with the Manhatten skyline before them.. Aaaaaah them 90s vibes tho.. #Joey #FRIENDS #NYC

  94. s.... c....

    some voice this man has...

    s.... c....

@shay clarke The Great Frank Sinatra. Never be another.

  95. K.... N....

a "swing and big band" version ! I  love too this beautiful version .  it preceeds the famous concerts with Count Basie in the sixties  at the Sands :-)...

  96. d.... d....

Anybody knows which key the song in?

    d.... d....

I believe it starts in D, then there's a key change to Eb at 2:10.

  97. B.... D....

So here is the recording that set the template for so many male soloists in the 1950's. If you compare this to his initial 1940's recording it is a draw - both are brilliant and as I get older I find his 40's recording to be more seminal.  However Sinatra in this more "hip" swing version seems to have been listening to the bebop phrasing of Dizzy and Bird. Would love to get some comment on this.

    B.... D....

I agree with you, Benjamin. The version I am most familiar is from "The Radio Years" CDs. It really rocks. It's straight up swingin', and it's truly one of my favorite songs. That version is before the voice change that he experienced in the early 50's. In any case, I still feel like you can't really go wrong with Sinatra and Cole Porter. Good stuff here...

    B.... D....

Now that I've listened to it a few times, I totally see how you made the connection between Dizzy and Bird. Thanks! Take care.

    B.... D....

Totally disagree. This is the definitive version. Sinatra's voice has real power. In the 40's he was a crooner. This is the work of a mature artist. His timing, his phrasing and interpretation is amazing. Add Nelson Riddle's orchestration it is a slam dunk.

    B.... D....

We played this at the end of my dad's funeral and I was expecting the 40's version but we got this one! It certainly made everyone jump when the big brass section started - it actually was a perfect send off!

  98. j.... l....

    franks voice smooth as silk
