Silversun Pickups - Surrounded (Or Spiraling) Lyrics

Remember when you were the hunted
Remember how I swallowed you in
Remember the rewards shimmering on the floor
Off the plastic chandelier
Remember when I saw you in orbit
Remember when I pulled you back in
Remember looking on blinking into the dawn
Thinking how this will never end

Surrounded
Let's romanticize
Our beloved memories
Surrounded
Let's demonize
Our softest injuries
Surrounded
Can we get behind
Distortion and liberties
Surrounded
We're surrounded or spiraling

Remember when I played assassin
Remember when my joking turned grim
Remember how we thought if we followed the dots
It would stop all the accidents
Remember when you broke my halo
Remember how I tied your wings in
Remember how we slipped on the lies we equipped
Just to bring back the goods again

Surrounded
Let's romanticize
Our beloved memories
Surrounded
Let's demonize
Our softest injuries
Surrounded
Can we get behind
Distortion and liberties
Surrounded
We're surrounded or spiraling

Is it perfect in our little Hell
Are you dancing or stumbling beside me
Well this might not be
We'll just wait and see

So now that we've stopped hearing echoes
And now that the replay wore thin
Just remember who held you
Remember who held you
Remember who held you
Remember who held you

Surrounded
Let's romanticize
Our beloved memories
Surrounded
Let's demonize
Our softest injuries
Surrounded
Can we get behind
Distortion and liberties
Surrounded
We're surrounded or spiraling

Is it perfect in our little Hell

This song has one of the best chorus I've ever heard, I mean it.

lyrically one of their best tracks, no question

  7. s.... l....

not sure - this or No Secrets.... yeah, i'm thinking this one.... "remember who held you...."

  8. H.... C....

The chorus chord progression and specially the breakdown at (3:37) sounds just like the Smashing Pumpkins song "Starz" from Zeitgeist.
But this one sounds better though, I hate the way Zeitgeist was mixed. haha

  9. u.... ....

The only albums I've actually bought in the last 5 years.

    u.... ....

useful76 right!!! These people live and love music. it shows. they jam so purely. Truth be told, they're one of the only bands I've ever supported. I actually rocked a Silversun Pickups clear sticker that I got off a CD cover on my old Mustang. The only sticker I ever put on that car. EVER! it was small but powerful.

    u.... ....

They just rereleased this vinyl as a limited breast cancer awareness edition with a pink colored vinyl record, I got it :)

  10. u.... ....

Well it's like comparing rubies to emeralds. Both are beautiful, rare gems but neither can really be called bad.

  11. u.... ....

All are good but I prefer growing old is getting old. something so haunting about that tune.

    u.... ....

  12. J.... E....

@RoyMunnson I liked "The Royal We" more than anything by far.

    J.... E....

    Jason Eubanks Creation Lake

  13. R.... ....

    This song is so lecaing.

  14. R.... ....

this is the best silversun pickups song i ever heard from the ablum... Swoon.

  15. J.... P....

i like the swoon album, and i like that their music is maturing and changing just as they are, but I miss the more chilled out, mellow-sounding pickups. swoon is much more heavily rock influenced than the pikul EP and Carnavas (which both hold a special place in my heart), not this song particularly, but the rest of it. their big label is trying to change their sound a bit :( but i love sspu. why did i just type all of that, idek im pretty high, thank you silversun pickups.

    J.... P....

Jake Parrott agreed. Pikul was my favorite record by them, it was just so raw and felt like that mastering process kept its filthy hands off of it, not saying Carnavas sounded overly produced, but Swoon kinda did, and Better Nature sounds crazily over produced :(

  16. B.... B....

@GreenRacket they play it live. Someone asked brian on twitter recently and he said they've played it many times. Can't find a video anywhere for it whatsoever it's crazy

  17. A.... B....

How can this song, SSPU's BEST, not have a single live video up? What gives? Do they just not play it live?

  18. S.... K....

FUCKING SO ORIGINAL!!! Love it...hope these guys go platinum some day. I doubt it though; all the damned radio stations in this country are controlled by Clear Channel...fucking music Nazis.

  19. C.... ....

one of my favorite bands :)

  20. E.... ....

@TheVsed This is the only monotonous song by them, and some people just think it sounds good. They certainly have a lot of musical talent, look at some other songs.

  21. s.... ....

    @TheVsed
    Zero musical talent?
    ...Look! Your ignorance is showing.

  22. L.... ....

if u like monotonous songs that show zero musical talent then ya... this is prolly great

    L.... ....

I'd like to see your musical talent, cynical fuck.

  23. D.... ....

The guitar rift at 3:08 gives me chills every time.

  24. U.... ....

@Afireinside912 That's how his lyrics were supposed to seem like, Cobain said that you have to look deep into the lyrics to actually get the meanings

  25. T.... ....

@Afireinside912 Hahaha you're talking shit on Kurt while your screen name is AFI. God, the irony.

  26. c.... ....

@Afireinside912 the pixies have gone far in music and inspired alot of people

  27. A.... ....

    @jmInDreams
I disagree with cobain being one of the BEST writers.... he wrote some really RETARDED stuff that my 8 year old cousin could pull out his ass..

  28. A.... ....

    @cornyking1992
And the pixies are NOT talented.

  29. c.... ....

@jmInDreams you forgot sonic youth the pixies and mudhoney who inspired those three bands

    and eddie vedder really?

  30. D.... ....

keep your gospel, this is my sunday musik :)

  31. d.... ....

its a good song its just softer, the chorus is beasty tho.

  32. d.... ....

    that chorus is kickass.

  33. r.... ....

That's a lot of opinion. I personally think Billy Corgan's themes are far more coherent and connect with his work farther more. However, I appreciate Aubert's novelty. Everything in SSPU feels totally fresh, even when not on target. I feel a lot out of both. I wouldn't be watching a SSPU video if I didn't like them, but there are aspects where I think SP is better.

  34. G.... ....

You did it again! For my youngest daughter whom was terribly fooled by a much older man and trapped. At 19 she could not see a complete different world without him, and it destroyed her.
mom of three beautiful people. Its just that my two youngest are giving those who have Blessed and guided my life a much needed rest. Now, they watch over me, their sister and niece.

  35. D.... H....

this is probably one of the ONE songs I like by Silversun.

  36. R.... ....

    Are you dancing,
    Stumbling beside me

  37. m.... ....

    green day is terrible

  38. R.... ....

rockin song love the chorus :)

  39. d.... ....

does this song remind anyone else of greenday?

  40. Q.... ....

    Million stars~!

  41. R.... ....

    This song is great.
